The verdict in Charlottesville will bankrupt hate organizations, the verdict in Brunswick will put Ahmaud Arbery’s murderers away. Thank you to the prosecutors, juries, @karenleahdunn, @IntegrityforUSA, and the brilliant @kaplanrobbie, who I am so proud to have as my attorney.
As the excellent Dahlia Lithwick writes specifically in regard to Charlottesville, “This lawsuit was a template for how to hold violent white racism to account without giving it a platform, and a guide for how to do so with dignity and decorum and compassion for the hurting and traumatized and the dead.” It doesn’t make up for the fact that Heather Heyer and Ahmaud Arbery were murdered or the egregiousness of the Rittenhouse trial and its aftermath but it is something we can take some measure of comfort in.
Good night, everybody.
I would like to share what Bernice King said yesterday.
"I don't have to respond whenever provoked.
No one does.
Steward your energy well.
We have justice work to do.
And strategy to outline.
And self-care to prioritize.
And love to live.
It's okay to let provocateurs leave empty handed."
Count every blessing! Love and peace to everyone this holiday season.
