It’s going to be interesting (by which I mean nauseating and totally predictable) to see how Republicans square their recent (and in some cases ongoing ) support for Putin with the atrocities and crimes against humanity being revealed in Ukraine every day. We know they’re going to try—and they’ll succeed to some degree both because they are shameless liars and hypocrites and many in the media will fail to call out their lies and hypocrisy.
Before we get to the lists, here’s some emergency art:
You can find the updated “Glossary of Fascists” here and the “Glossary of Pseudo-Intellectual Hacks” here.
N.B. The numbers in parentheses indicate the position on last week’s list.
FACEBOOK
THE RIGHT AND THE ENABLERS
Facebook continues to be weird. An uptick in right-wing posts this week but, again, the dominant names are not quite as dominant as they have been. For the second week in a row, a lot of the entries were mainstream news outlets(like CNN and NPR) and general entertainment sights (like The Dodo and The Today Show).
Here are the relevant 70 daily top ten posts for the week:
Dan Bongino (01) held 06, followed by Franklin Graham with 05, Fox (02) with 04, and Ben Shapiro with 03 (08). Breitbart (04), Newsmax, Blue Lives Matter, The Federalist Papers, The Washington Times, and some godforsaken organization called Donal Trump for President each had one—for a total of 24 out of 70. Last week it was 22 out of 70.
THE LEFT
Occupy Democrats held 12 spots, up from 11, and The Huffington Post held 1 for a total of 13 out of 70. Last week it was 11 out of 70.
NEW YORK TIMES BEST SELLERS LIST HARDCOVER NON-FICTION
Whenever you see this symbol † next to or underneath the title of a book on the NYT Best Sellers List, it indicates that there have been significant bulk sales which may, at least in part, be responsible for that particular book’s appearance on the list. It’s been three weeks now and, although I keep looking, there is no such symbol next to Bill Barr’s book which, for the third week in a row remains in the #1 spot.
1. One Damn Thing After Another, Bill Barr (1)
2. The 1619 Project, Nikole Hannah-Jones (3)
3. Lessons from the Edge, Marie Yovanovich (2)
13. The Great Reset, Glenn Beck (15) †
AMAZON BESTSELLERS HARDCOVER NON-FICTION

20. Laptop from Hell: Hunter Biden, Big Tech, and the Dirty Secrets the President Tried to Hide, Miranda Devine (12)
Thanks to the racist idiot Ted Cruz for pushing this to the top of the best sellers list:
2. Antiracist Baby, Ibram X. Kendi

The Secret Life of Cookies with Marissa Rothkopf
#SistersInLaw with Barb McQuade, Kimberly Atkins Stohr, Joyce Vance, and Jill Wine-Banks
SUBSTACK POLITICS NEWSLETTERS
The Substack top-ten is more ideologically diverse across the right-wing spectrum but it still contains a disturbing number of serially wrong anti-democratic writers who have way too many followers than is healthy for our nation. Every single newsletter in the top ten has tens of thousands of subscribers.
This list is very stable and won’t change much from week to week.
2. The Dispatch, Jonah Goldberg, editor-in-chief
3. TK News by Matt Taibbi
5. Glenn Greenwald
6. Unreported Truths by Alex Berenson
7. Common Sense by Bari Weiss, (aka the “Substack grifter,” in the words of Press Run’s Eric Boehlert)
8. Take Control: Dr. Mercola’s Censored Library, Joseph Mercola
9. The Weekly Dish by Andrew Sullivan
Letters from an American by Heather Cox Richardson is still representing at number 1.
Here, again, are the Glossary of Fascists and Glossary of Pseudo-Intellectual Hacks. I’m constantly updating this so if you have any suggestions you can leave them in the comments. Please note that these lists focus on figures in the media.
Thank you for the emergency art. Very calming in a chaotic time.
Emergency art is VITAL! Thank you! It helped me reset.
