Today Judge Engoron did what no one in my family – or America – has ever been able to do.

While addressing the court and delivering his closing argument in the $320 million fraud trial, Donald’s attorney Christopher Kise asked Judge Engoron if Donald could speak — after which Judge Engoron immediately turned to Donald and asked, “Do you promise to just comment on the facts and the law,” – terms Donald’s team had refused, as I outlined yesterday.

Surprising no one, Donald started talking immediately without answering the question.

With $320 million on the line, including Mar-a-Lago itself, Donald went on to deliver an unhinged tirade that was sure to horrify his attorneys, and ensure Engoron will apply the full amount of devastating damages to his case.

“This was a political witch hunt; we should receive damages for what they have taken our company through. They have no documents — they have nothing!” Donald complained, after months of documented evidence that showed the lengths of his vast fraud – about $2.2 BILLION of it.

“I am an innocent man,” said the guiltiest man since Ghengis Khan. “I have been politically persecuted… “What has happened here is a fraud on ME…they want to make sure I don’t run again.”

If that weren’t bad enough for Donald, he then completely ruined his entire case:

Donald Attacks the Judge

In a move that truly defies all logic, Donald then did the worst possible thing for his case.

He turned to the very judge who is about to decide his damages and attacked him.

“You have your own agenda,” Trump told Engoron. “You can’t listen for more than one minute!”

At that point, Engoron had enough.

Engoron Shuts Donald Up

Engoron finally insisted that Donald’s lawyer shut Donald down. “Mr. Kise, please control your client.”

Good luck with that, Mr. Kise!

Did Donald stop? Of course not.

He proceeded to attack Letitia James, the judge – again – and the trial itself, before Engoron finally succeeded in shutting him down.

Then Donald just sat there, futily fuming.

Donald’s Past, Donald’s Future

This behavior is partially the result of Donald's never being disciplined effectively as a kid. By the time he was an adult, every conversation in my grandparents' house revolved around him. His style of "negotiating" was to ignore the terms of any deal and throw a temper tantrum or threaten the other side until he got his way. He believes he will not suffer for ignoring the rules – which he no longer even pretends to play by.

He gets to score his points without consequence… UNTIL TODAY.

The damage has been done. Despite the fact he just destroyed any hope for leniency, Donald said exactly what was on his mind. Now, he will pay for it.

I asked an attorney friend just how bad of an idea attacking the judge was for Donald today. His answer was short and to the point: “Donald screwed himself.”

Yes, Donald’s cult will still endanger the lives of anybody Donald smears – like the swatting attack done on Judge Engoron this morning.

But with the exception of his delusional base, Donald's repetitive and immature – and dangerous – ramblings are not playing well with the majority of the American people.

Donald could lose Mar-a-Lago over this. He’ll likely lose Trump Tower. He will almost certainly lose hundreds of millions of dollars.

And I’ll do everything I can to make sure he loses one more thing: the 2024 election.

The good news we all need

I think you know documenting EVERY SINGLE one of Donald’s self-owns, crimes, and threats to America is a full-time job. But I am determined to use this platform to energize our base in 2024, to stop Donald from destroying our democracy.
