The Republican Party no longer exists. It's not "the fascist Republican Party." It is the Fascist Party of America.

It’s not strictly “fascist”. It’s its own unique thing. Under National Socialism in Germany, the state owned most of the industrial production. USA is hyper capitalist.

There are plenty of POS. Perhaps they can all be corralled into their own state and we can build a wall?

My hero, George Carlin, had this same plan a few decades ago. He figured that using rectangular states made sense--easier to fence in. See: "Back In Town" performance, 1996. Good ideas; plus, you'll get a laugh or two--hard to come by these days!

I miss George Carlin. I wish he was still here to give us his thoughts on the current political situation. Thanks for sharing.

Alas, corruption is so much a part of Donald Trump's behavior, nothing surprises anyone who pays attention. Congress needs to make some serious laws about pardons: no president can pardon anyone involved with an action he/she has been involved in; no president can pardon anyone involved with an insurrection; no president can pardon a convicted murderer, rapist, or terrorist. I am sure there are other curbs that could be put together by people who actually care about the office of the president and about this country.

Absolutely! Allowing the USA to be targeted because of bad decisions by a corrupt, dear leader and his band of jokers! Putting our Navy at risk due to illegal activities perpetrated by incompetent "leaders," who are appointed with the qualification of being loyal (and not having the qualifications, nor experience for the job).

no felon can run for president!

Correct. Isn’t it ironic that as a convicted criminal, felon Trump cannot vote; yet he’s able to become President of the United States. Just sickening, and must change! Impeach the bastard now!

Unfortunately, the Supreme Court has said: “[T]he power [of clemency] flows from the Constitution alone, not from any legislative enactments, and . . . it cannot be modified, abridged, or diminished by the Congress.”

And just in case! Donald Trump is a pedophile. We are wondering geez Donnie why were you and Virginia Dufrey in Epstein’s house for hours? Just asking as is all the victims of the sexual abuse. You should be in jail. Remember your birthday card you signed telling Epstein how you shared some special secrets together and now we know why. You are a predator and should be behind bars!!!

He wanted to come across as a strongman. Compare it to his first portrait! Quite different. Melania has a matching “strongwoman” portrait. I was very struck by these when they first came out, so I saved them in a folder.

You just know that if anyone gets pardoned by DT that they are as guilty as hell. In fact being pardoned by DT is a greater condemnation than the guilty plea or verdict ever was. It’s like getting a literal pat on the back by Satan himself.

All of those pardons will be reversed when sanity returns to government and Trump’s “Presidencies” are proven illegitimate. The prosecutions will go on for many years.

Judith Pont's avatar

Many changes needed. Time for paradigm changes and this presidential pardoning is overplayed! Life terms for SCOTUS, Citizen's United, the Electoral College, Healthcare, Monopolies, presidential pardons, Education, equity, freedom to marry or worship as private decisions--just for starters and accountability with limits set upon delays for justice. Also, vile hate speech does not get the same megaphone. Oh, yes, so much more!

An updated version of the ways in which our tripartite system works must be studied, debated and implemented without delays. We need a respected panel of experts with the highest credentials and a timeline that is accountable. Citizen input should play a part, responsible voices need to be heard.

Executive orders have been abused—it's time to remove them from the presidency.

Cabinet appointments have been abused—time to remove them too.

The Emoluments Clause, Hatch Act, Logan Act, Johnson Amendment, 14th Amendment, and more have been flouted—time to codify them into enforceable law.

The Electoral College has been abused—time to abolish it.

Frivolous media lawsuits by elected officials are out of control—ban them from suing while in office.

The list goes on. Enough fighting. It’s time to fix the broken systems that leave us weak and vulnerable to an imperial presidency like we have now. Thank you, Mary!

I don’t want him to die. I want him to serve prison time for his past convictions. And I want to see him tried and convicted of all of the crimes he’s committed during his current time in office. I want to see him publicly humiliated during a live tv trial for all the world to see. And I want to see him in an orange jumpsuit, bald, without makeup and slowly dying while serving many, many years in prison. That is what he deserves.
