Mary, I’m a Canadian who thanks you very much for exposing your uncle for the monster he is. It cannot be easy to be so outspoken when you know you are exposing yourself to the ire of his cult. His style of behaviour and attitude has leaked across the border and has emboldened our far right extremists. Reasonable people who believe in decency and democracy have to stand together to defeat this rising evil. Stay strong!

The Donald gets less digestible day by day. July 11 is to bring sentencing to him. He is thumbing his nose at the court just as he does those who attend his hate rallys.

The Biden campaign is getting more aggressive in touting their real world gains and Donald's mental decline.

The American people are tired of Donald's whining and threats. The House Republicans may not care but the Supreme Court has to. There will be a day when both groups get prosecuted for corruption.

My birthday is November 5th. I will be 73 on Election Day this year. I look for Donald to be gone or to lose with half the votes that the Democrats get. If he is still here, he may try to continue holding us all hostage with his "stolen election" lie. People send a billionaire their money. Other people take orders from a whiny toddler. This is unacceptable and people are turning against it.

Apparently yes. They're always doing experiments and measuring the results. I don't understand why it works because I always vote anyway, but apparently it persuades enough people to justify doing it.

Expand full comment
Ellen L Wright's avatar

It works because it gets to the people who "forget" there's an election (imagine that), don't know who's running (so they would only vote for Biden and nobody else which is helpful to a degree, but..), or they are "undecided/independent/leaning?" and need a small push one way or the other. Strong Dems or Reps are going to vote. We're just going to. It's the people in the middle that you're looking for. I actually love talking to these people. They're not the rabid, going to bite your head off folks. They'll take a minute and tell you what's bothering them and why. They're really good folks.

Ah...give da guy a frickin' break. He is out on the high seas in a battery powered boat--a really large and heavy battery. He is worried that the boat will sink under the weight of the battery. Fast forward. Ten feet off the Starboard side is a huge shark, eyeing the poor dude. He realizes he must make a

choice. What to do? If the boat really starts sinking, he should jump into the water before it is too late. However, if he does he will be attacked by the huge shark (obviously a man-eater). He must make a decision. He takes a deep breath and decides to stay with the boat. Better to be electrocuted than eaten by a shark!

This, my fellow commenters, is what The Orange Menace is talking about these days-in land locked

Nevada, no less. Here is the point. He is revered by low-information voters. Four in ten did not know what his felony convictions were for. They had not paid attention to the trial at all. Four were not sure about the convictions, but surmised they had a political element. Witch hunt? Only two knew much about the trial. You would be wrong to think they would never vote for Trump. They are unsure who they will vote for, because they do not like Biden's handling of the economy. Wait...what? We are seeing the pathetic state of many American voters. They are hooked on social media and that is where they turn for information. They still say Biden is too old, because he will be 81 in November. Geez. Trump is only 77. His birthday is tomorrow. He will be 78. So there are three years that separate them, and the only cognitive test Trump has taken was administered by Ronny Jackson five years ago. Yes, that Ronny Jackson! The guy who kept all sorts of pills in plain sight in the WH staff lounge and allowed employees to take what they "needed." We are in BIG trouble! I am not sure we can reach these people. They are not Taylor Swift fans. Most love the Kardashians. I think we stand a better chance of reaching people who are not hooked on social media or reality shows--probably more hardworking rural voters, who are not in thrall to Bennifer or Kim and Ye.
