I discovered my parents 78s in the early 1960s. I recall listening to some but when we were forced out of our homestead in 1969 after the city took our land under eminent domain, I don’t recall what happened to those nice old 78s. I have my collection of 33s. I need a new stereo system. Im not so occupied since I became a songwriter (a sideline) and I’m more interested working my own songs. Music has always been that glue that bonds families and pre-electric days when song was almost the only form of entertainment. The Troubadour that traveled from town to town. It was rewarding for me to be hired to perform at the very plot of land my original family’s house sat on during their harvest festival late year.

My Dad played “Beautiful Loser” and “Turn The Page” by Bob Seger constantly in his car.
He’d buy us a flat of cherries from the fruit stand, hose them down, put them in the car and tell us to spit the seeds out while he drove us through the vineyards in Lodi, Ca. blasting Bob Seger and Ray Charles.
That's not a bad thing to hear but in this song it is Pete Seeger. I have been a folk music devotee since the late 50's and still love them all. I adore Ronnie Gilbert's voice and also followed her later in life popularity with singers such as Holly Near.
To add... check out the version of 'Kisses Sweeter than Wine' by Jackson Browne with Bonnie Raitt. I find it to be the most palatable... actually I like it..🙂

"Kisses Sweeter Than Wine" was a big hit by Jimmy Rodgers while I was in high school. I didn't discover the Weavers until shortly after I graduated.
Love the Weavers. Kisses Sweater... is in my head but I cannot call up the name of the male vocalist.
