The following people and organizations support the big lie, the January 6th insurrection, the flying of the confederate flag and the wearing of the Camp Auschwitz and 6MWE t-shirts in our Capitol. They want Donald Trump to be president again even if they need to lie, cheat, steal, and commit violence in order to make that happen. They hate democracy. They are dangerous because of these things but they are also dangerous because they are popular and influential. We need to keep our eyes on them.
Individuals
NICK ADAMS
Adams denounced multiculturalism, saying "It creates groups and pockets of people that of course, then feel that there are certain elements of superiority and inferiority and I think that we need to be united."
In addition to appearing on Fox News and other conservative media outlets, Adams has been a columnist for Townhall.com and a "Centennial Institute Policy Fellow" at Colorado Christian University.
And Donald likes him.
STEVE BANNON
An anarchist who seems hell-bent on destroying America. The host of the truly awful War Room, Bannon recently had Erik Prince, mercenary, on as a guest and they declared Americans should be supporting Russia in its illegal war of aggression because Putin is “anti-woke” and “anti-LGBT.”
GLENN BECK
A long-time far-right conspiracy theorist, Beck hosted shows on CNN and then Fox from 2006 to 2011. At one point his show on Fox had better ratings than all of its competitors in the same time-slot. In 2018, Beck started The Blaze, a subscription-based internet network which carries his top-ten podcast, “The Glenn Beck Program.”
ALEX BERENSON
Berenson initially downplayed the Coronavirus and now spreads disinformation about it on right-wing media outlets. He recently compared the January 6th Committee to the House Un-American Activities Commission.
DAN BONGINO
In November 2020 Bongino was listed by The New York Times as one of the top 5 election "misinformation super-spreaders.
TUCKER CARLSON [FISHSTICKS]
At this point, all I can really say about this odious person is that he is a white nationalist, pro-Putin propagandist who has been using his significant platform to spread racism and anti-immigrant hatred and to undermine our president and our democracy. His Fox show has frequently been the number one cable “news” program with as many as 5.3 million nightly viewers.
STEVEN CROWDER
Popular with young male conservatives (shock), Crowder traffics in racism and homophobia. Because he lied about the legitimacy of the 2020 election his YouTube channel was demonetized.
BEN DOMENECH
He is the publisher of the very right-wing The Federalist. He’s married to John McCain’s daughter who used to be a host on The View because nepotism. Enough said.
DINESH D’SOUZA
A promoter of conspiracies like birtherism, the idea that George Soros, a Jewish man, was a Nazi collaborator, and the insurrection on January 6th was not an insurrection.
Charged with making illegal campaign contributions in 2014, he pleaded guilty. Donald pardoned him in 2018 because of course he did.
NICK FUENTES
A white nationalist, holocaust-denier who doesn’t think women should have the right to vote, Fuentes started the America First Political Action Conference because, apparently, the Conservative Political Action Conservative Union (CPAC) isn’t offensive, crazy, or unhinged enough.
BRIGITTE GABRIEL
An Islamophobe, Gabriel is the founder of the anti-Muslim group ACT! for America and is, therefore, by definition, a horrible person.
DANIELLE D’SOUZA GILL
An anti-choice zealot, enemy of “wokeness,” and contributor to the propaganda outlet The Epoch Times, this particular apple did not fall far from the tree—her father is the execrable Dinesh D’Souza.
FRANKLIN GRAHAM
Wikipedia describes Graham, son of misogynist, homophobe, and anti-Semite Billy Graham, as an “evangelist” but it would seem the gospel he’s preaching is an even more virulent form of intolerance than his father’s.
The list of Graham’s prejudices and offenses is long. He claimed Barack Obama was Muslim after stating that Islam was "a very evil and wicked religion;” he supports Donald Trump and actually said "Trump will go down in history as one of the great presidents of our nation, bringing peace and prosperity to millions here in the U.S. and around the world,” which suggests he is either a consummate liar or delusional (I’m going with the former); he supports conversion therapy, praised Putin’s “gay propaganda law, and opposes marriage equality.
SEAN HANNITY
A long-time host on Fox, Hannity has been one of the most prominent propagandists on the right. The conspiracy theories he’s spread include birtherism, lies about Hillary Clinton’s health, and claims of election fraud. Despite pretending to be a “journalist,” Hannity really played the role of Donald’s de facto chief-of-staff and campaign advisor. He is an inveterate liar and shameless enemy of democracy. In other words, he’s exactly what Rupert Murdoch wants him to be.
LAURA INGRAHAM
ALEX JONES
Host of the widely syndicated Alex Jones Show, Jones is a conspiracy theorist and snake oil salesman who hawks dietary supplements and survivalist gear. Jones also spread the big lie and spoke at the insurrection rally on January 6th.
This man has done and said so many hideous things so I’ll keep it simple:
He claimed that the massacre of 20 six-year-old children and 6 adults at Sandy Hook Elementary School was a false flag operation. As a result many of the families—who had just lost their children—were harassed and some received death threats.
I don’t believe in hell but I hope there is one waiting for this despicable man.
MEGYN KELLY
A former Fox flunky and Black face apologist, Kelly has managed to fail her way up—after she left Fox, she received around $15 million from NBC to host a disastrous and short-lived daytime show and $10 million for her autobiography. Currently an anti-masker, January 6th apologist, and basic asshole.
CHARLIE KIRK
Kirk is founder of Turning Point USA, an organization that recently invited Kyle Rittenhouse to speak and hailed the double-murderer as a hero.
MICHAEL KNOWLES
A homophobic, anti-trans bigot with a podcast, also co-hosts a podcast with Ted Cruz (what more needs be said?).
JOSEPH MERCOLA
Mercola is a doctor of osteopathy whose Substack newsletter ,Take Control: Dr. Mercola’s Censored Library, has tens of thousands of monthly subscribers.
Mercola has declared that coronavirus vaccines are “a medical fraud,” saying that the injections did not prevent infections, provide immunity, or stop transmission of the disease—all dangerous lies.
He has claimed that the vaccine “alter[s] your genetic coding, turning you into a viral protein factory that has no off-switch.”
Mercola is a snake-oil salesman who, through pushing fake cures and maligning valid treatments, has amassed a net worth “in excess of $100 million.”
JAMES O’KEEFE
Founder of Project Veritas and a criminal who attacks progressive groups by doctoring evidence against them, O’Keefe has been banned from Twitter for "operating fake accounts.” That’s great, but I have no idea why this charlatan isn’t in prison.
CANDACE OWEN
Like all of the other sell-outs in the Republican Party, Owens was against Donald before she was for him (she’s claimed he’s the “savior” of Western civilization which tells you everything you need to know about how seriously she should be taken). She’s anti-choice, anti-welfare, and pro-wall which pretty much sums it up.
JORDAN PETERSON
I’m embarrassed to say that Peterson is a clinical psychologist and was, until 2021, a professor at the University of Toronto.
He denies climate change, traffics in macho, anti-intellectual bullshit, and likes to hang out with fellow racist Joe Rogan.
JANINE PIRO
BEN SHAPIRO
Shapiro is an anti-Muslim, anti-choice, homophobic bigot. He is, in other words, a mainstream Republican (which is essentially what can be said about all of the others on these lists).
MATT WALSH
A white power transphobe, Walsh has a podcast that is hosted by Ben Shapiro’s Daily Wire.
Organizations
ACT! FOR AMERICA
Founded by Brigitte Gabriel, Act! For America has been described as "the largest grassroots anti-Muslim group in the country" by The Southern Poverty Law Center. The Council on American-Islamic Relations has described it as "one of the main sources of growing anti-Muslim bigotry in our nation and one of the main sources of growing anti-Muslim bigotry in our nation"
THE BABYLON BEE
A satirical Christian website (tagline: “Fake News You Can Trust”), The Babylon Bee strives to be like The Onion but has the distinction of being offensive without the benefit of being funny.
THE BLAZE
Started in 2018 by Glenn Beck, The Blaze is a subscription-based internet network that carries shows hosted by Beck, Steven Crowder, and Mark Levin. I have been able to find more up-to-date data, but as of December 2020 the network had 450,000 subscribers paying about $100 a year on average.
BREITBART
Founded in 2007 by Andrew Breitbart, this online platform for the “alt-right” has been a cesspool of misogyny, racism, conspiracy theories, and white supremacy—especially under the leadership of Steve Bannon, who took over after Breitbart’s death.
THE DAILY WIRE
“Conceived” by Ben Shapiro and Jeremy Boreing, The Daily Wire is yet another far-right media company that labels itself “conservative,” a word that has lost all meaning. In addition to Morning Wire, it also hosts The Ben Shapiro Show, The Michael Knowles Show, and other propaganda. One of the site’s latest articles is called “What Is a Woman? Why the Left Can’t Answer That Question,” by Matt Walsh. They have recently announced a $100 million investment in non-woke entertainment for children in order to combat the indoctrination of our children by evil media companies like “woke” Disney.
THE EPOCH TIMES
THE FEDERALIST
The publisher of this right-wing website is Ben Domenech, husband of John McCain’s daughter.
THE FEDERALIST PAPERS
Its mission is purportedly to educate Americans about “Our true American History, and what the public schools left out; What’s going on with government today, and how to push back; The Constitution, and why our form of government is the best ever developed; How our government should work, and what it actually does; Economics, Capitalism and Free Markets.”
It seems benign enough, but recent articles make it clear the organization is more concerned with decrying “wokeness,” “investigating” Hunter Biden’s laptop, and insinuating (blatantly stating, actually) that President Biden has dementia.
FOX
Rupert Murdoch may go down in history as the greatest threat to democracy worldwide. It’s still an open question whether or not democracy survives him.
INFOWARS
Started InfoWars in 1999 by Alex Jones, this website traffics almost exclusively in conspiracy theories. It was the first to push Pizzagate and including claims that the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School and September 11th were both false flag operations.
InfoWars has 10 million monthly visitors.
NEWSMAX
Founded by Christopher Ruddy, Newsmax is one of the most trafficked right-wing websites. It is also one of the most prolific pushers of conspiracy theories and purveyors of misinformation (especially false allegations about the 2020 election).
THE POLITICAL INSIDER
According to its website, The Political Insider, “publishes authentic conservative voices who believe in personal responsibility, limited government, free markets, individual liberty, traditional American values, and a strong national defense. Each one is committed to combating the overwhelming liberal bias in today’s media.” In other words, they’re interested in protecting their rights at the expense of everyone else’s.
THE WASHINGTON TIMES
The Washington Times has been around since 1982. It was founded by S—the leader of a cult called the Unification who claims to be a messiah. Described as a “conservative” publication (that term really needs to be retired when the word people are looking for is “fascist” or “extremist”), The Washington Times publishes a lot of conspiracy theories (most recently about COVID-19) and engages in climate change denialism, white supremacy, and Islamophobia. The paper once published a column written by acclaimed journalist Ted Nugent (yeah, that guy).
I would add Nick Fuentes and Milo Yiannopoulos to this list of truly deplorable people.
Thank you for all that you do in sounding the alarm about the many threats to democratic & multicultural society in the U.S. and around the world. And I agree that Rupert Murdoch and his minions are among the most dangerous. I have been railing about Fox over 20 years when I first felt they were junk food for the mind. They now spew poison into the body politic and have created the massive increase of hostility, division, disinformation, and racism in our society.
