If you don't stand AGAINST him, you stand FOR him! It's that simple. Does the Party even get that there is no middle ground here? Truth or lies? Yes or no? There's no multiple choice here.

How can we who love her allow such an awful person to desecrate her??! πŸ˜ͺ

"I can be changed by what happens to me. But I refuse to be reduced by it."

- Maya Angelou

Five years after the deeply suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of Jeffrey Epstein in federal custody, no one is talking about it. Why? It is also profoundly sad that a national opportunity to address sexual violence in our country has been missed. While holding all figures of power accountable is essential, protecting our citizens is even more imperative.

For Women:

Rape: Approximately 1 in 5 women have experienced completed or attempted rape in their lifetime.

Sexual Violence: Over 40% of women have experienced some form of sexual violence.

For Men:

Rape: About 1 in 33 men have experienced attempted or completed rape in their lifetime.

Sexual Violence: Nearly 25% of men have experienced some form of sexual violence, including unwanted sexual contact.

Lisa, this is sad but true. I would not be surprised if the numbers are even higher. Many suffer in silence and shame, blaming themselves.

Finney Catherine's avatar

You are absolutely correct! I was sexually abused, but it was never reported to authorities because I was an adult before I confronted it. I speak publicly about it now, and ALWAYS have several women come up to me afterwards and whisper it happened to them, too. It is time to expose not only the perpetrators but the thousands of people who enable them (as we are glimpsing through recently released emails).

It is sad. Sad that the fastest way growing criminal activity with the highest $$ value of any organized crime evolves around sexual abuse, sexual trafficking, and political policies that historically have underplayed its existence as well as devalue the human beings whose lives are being destroyed by it?

How can we on one hand denounce the abuses of human beings, especially children, and highlight the right of a human being to be exploited through legitimization of the sex business on the other hand?

We’re witnessing the strong aromas of politics in the battle of ideas.

The battle over definitions of ethics.

The fight over whose philosophy controls the lives and freedoms of others.

Epstein is a product of this battle.

In 2018, I attended a neighborhood meeting being conducted by the officials of the county in which I lived and representatives from the DOJ.

What I learned there is that the largest city within 40 miles of our area, population roughly 500,000, that every night approximately 5,000 underaged children were being sex trafficked.

How does this happen?

To a large extent, (according to the DOJ) criminal gangs through coercion, kidnapping, drug inducements, and other forms of manipulation controlled an entire sub/culture of our youth.

Drugged.

Gang raped.

Forced witnessing of cruelties, and more.

So while we bury the reality of the world that our children are living in (expecting the next generation to thrive amongst the oxymoronic sexual contradictions) we look to the politicians, whose hands on either side of the aisle are most likely equal.

We look to them to fix it now. Not yesterday.

So why now?

The battle is a political game and maneuvering in the game is to win.

At some point, someone’s going to yell, β€œthe king is naked” and others may start listening.

50% of the sentiments of US citizens are divided against 50% of the others.

So should we be focused on policy that frees us to live according to our own consciences or policies that force others to live by our definitions of morality?

Should it be β€˜living in accordance with our own consciences so long as it doesn’t force others to live by our definitions?

And if so, how is that accomplished?

Isn’t this in part written into law that no entity can force another to live by their β€˜beliefs’?

No state religion, whether Muslim, Christian, Athiest, or otherwise.

Our favorite visual in the Epstein dilemma is the Clinton Blue Dress.

Trump knew about Epstein, Clinton knew about Epstein, Obama knew about Epstein.

So why have they all downplayed it historically, yes, even hidden it, and why wasn’t it exposed for what so many knew it was about and why didn’t the multiple last presidential leaderships expose what they all knew about in each of the past administrations?

The next time you pull into a Flying J or any other truck stop in America, attempt to reconcile your beliefs while you think of the children and young adults that are being abused while you pump your gas and get snacks and Gatorade’s for your kids….

Thank you. Wow, this is powerful.

The suffering of all is constantly on my mind.

I struggle to enjoy life because I feel everyone else's pain.

The suffering children are on my mind constantly.

The abused children are on my mind constantly.

The fifty million enslaved people in the world are on my mind constantly.

The victims of the 110 current armed conflicts in the world are on my mind constantly.

I wish I could do more.

I know we can do better.

I know Nelson Mendella said the purpose of freedom is to free others.

I know MLK said the arc of the universe bends towards justice.

I know that my Jewish faith commands me to be hopeful, and so I will continue to strive for it every day.

That is so fitting here, isn’t it? Mandela s quote, β€œThe purpose of freedom is to free others.” Let’s see how that part unfolds…and what laws are removed or instituted to protect the innocent….and whether truth prevails and provides the healing so desperately needed by all those who have suffered and who are suffering.

Well, half of the countries in the world and about 45% of the world's population live in a full or flawed democracy, thanks to America, and that makes me incredibly proud to be part of something bigger than just surviving. We invented democracy, and that is nothing short of a miracle in the eleven thousand years of modern civilization. I know we have our issues. I know our President does not fully understand our purpose and role as leaders of the free world. I know there is work to be done to make our union more perfect, but still, I am incredibly proud and grateful to be an American.

As I said on another comment board, D. played this one very badly. He was the one that insisted that these files come to light in the early part of the year, trying to ensnare Dems. Instead, they ensnared him, as his AG told him his name was all over the files. There is no reason on this God's earth not to believe Epstein, the pimp's emails, as they came from him per his estate. The girls were working at Unc's house, for all to see and play with. How much more evidence do people need? Even if he somehow weasels out of this debacle, Epstein's emails, files, etc will taint him until he draws his last breath, and leave many doubts and questions in people's minds, whether they are Magas, real Republicans or Dems. These "girls" who are now women, really need to bring a class-action suit against the pedo perps, no matter who they are. This whole issue is huge. Trump's desire that Clinton is named in the files is very exciting to him apparently, but Clinton isn't president. Trump is. By that very fact, this entire illegal and sickening activity, that went on for years, that clearly was sanctioned and supported by him and his wife, while these children "worked" in his home, will stick to him like glue, especially with his strong history of sexual molestation, inappropriate commentary vs women and general criminal activity. In addition, the perks that the groomer Maxwell has been given in a minimum security prison, are sickening, but I am hoping, against hope, that the other incarcerated women make her pay big time.

Nobody not just Congresswoman Adelita Grijalva shouldn't have to be illegally refused sworn in that should be banned outlawed made illegal and a crime nationwide forever,) maga mike johnson donald j trump jd vance their entire regime cabinet members families except for Mary Trump!!! all maga trump republicans gop all should be immediately forced with enough harder pressure to force a vote and all of them should be immediately forced to release all of the epstein files we all don't care who is in all of them!!!! this is about justice also ending child exploitation sex trafficking pedo ring which we all want it all banned outlawed made illegal and a crime nationwide to worldwide forever. It should be a felony. If a registered sex offender is banned from entering into any parks nationwide then that sex offender should no longer be allowed to be in any parks at all period;) if he or she is a registered sex offender goes any where near children sexually molesting them!") then whoever that sex offender is should get more than 80 years behind bars. Many voices tonight are suggesting the turn around by djt, saying the Epstein files should be released, is just his slimy way of getting past the huge veto-proof vote coming like a freight train from the House. It will be stopped because his little friend pam will refuse to release the files. This refusal will be based on his order to her begin an investigation into possible involvement with Epstein by Democratic politicians from the 1990s and 2000s. They will claim when an investigation is open

Mil gracias Dama Maria,

Finally, we get to exercise our "casi-casi democratic" right. What I find insulting is how they ignore us, patronize us with their "legal mandates," and worst of all, they lie with impunity, and we are required to thank them. Maybe the god they always venerate could, by accidental fate, awaken and punish them to an eternity in hell, reading the Constitution and writing "I'll never lie again"
