I love reading about your favorite songs! I’m older than you but vividly remember making mixed tapes. I spent hours listening to records and writing down the lyrics. I had to lift the stereo needle and put it back again and again to get all the words right. The joy of being a teen in the seventies!
I made them with tape recordings on a 10.00 plastic tape player. Awful and wonderful. After you got out of town your radios 📻 couldn’t get any stations for hours unless it was late night and a pretty good channel from Mexico would come though.
I remember the first time I saw Kate Bush - MTV, early 1982, just after midnight, and four minutes later, I thought "What the @#$% was THAT!?" I became a fan then and there.
Sometimes I think it's Kate's world and we're all just living in it. Thanks for sharing your story, and good luck with the critters.
I was a Kate Bush fan way before I heard Pat Benetar’s cover. But what a great surprise. I only discovered it when I bought a $7 vinyl at my local record store. This is why I love my record player and my weekly trips to Grace Records in Gilbert AZ.
Kate Bush has been a favorite since 1978, when I saw her on Saturday Night Live. I Wish she could come here to perform, but she’s afraid of flying. My husband has had a crush on her since I bought her album back then
Thank you, Mary, for your enjoyable Twofer Tuesday post. I hope Linden gets better soon and Cap's blood work was painless for her. I do not like needles.
Music and the magic it blesses us with! I'm glad to know that music will be returning to the WH after a desert storm of nothing but hot air. I recently saw the movie: West Side Story and it renewed my faith in the USA as a country that has produces some of the best talent in the world, Kate Bush among them.
As I recall, the 80s needed to be born again. I remember very little about those days. At least for me without the 90s starting to look better I would have ended my education. Somehow I found myself in a community college located in a tin shack on the ass end of the local high school. Living half way between Bakersfield and Death Valley with my love — who really liked people who read books — I soon found myself driving over three hours to UC Riverside every week to study psychology. You need a lot of music to get me to drive across the desert along the Southern Sierras, and I became a music glutton. 🎶
Kate Bush’s Wuthering Heights is among my favourite songs of all time. An absolutely amazing piece of music!

Wishing Linden a speedy recovery and that Cap's blood work didn't hurt her too much.
Totally agree!
Listening to music everyday is a vital tonic for these times. Also Mary, keep the lists going!

Have enjoyed watching Mary on YouTube and reading these posts. I am so happy she has critter love to ease her through these difficult times.

Hi Lisa. Are you saying you have a record store in Gilbert? That would be great.
I wish! I just have a great record store near me that I shop at weekly.

Hounds Of Love is one of the greatest albums ever recorded.

The Kick Inside… a farewell to her lover, her brother and the world…. And then being born again- into the sweet morning fog. Kate Bush is brilliant.
Kate is a truly singular talent!
I bought "The Kick Inside" back in 1978 when I was expecting my son. Wuthering Heights always brings me right back to that happy time.
