First of all, thank you for your kind words about Linden and Cap. He is still under the weather but definitely on the mend—back to the vet on Wednesday for a follow-up. She is back to her kitten self—we’re waiting on some test results and she needs an ultra-sound but for the time being all is well.
WINNER
It’s been quite a week for the New York Attorney General. She has been relentless in her pursuit of justice against one of the (allegedly) most corrupt families in New York and, finally, her efforts are bearing fruit.
Some of your comments:
“[James has] restored a measure of hope that TFG will FINALLY be held accountable.”
“Let's hope that her heroic actions lead to their downfall which would be a victory for true justice in this country.”
“[James] is the current face of justice.”
““My intuition tells me she’s the one to bring down the awful Trumps—at last. I shall dance in the streets and hope to see them in charming orange jumpsuits.” (I will, too.)
“[H]opefully a real step toward ending Donald's reign of terror.” Hopefully, indeed.
RUNNER-UP
Volodymyr Zelensky and the people of Ukraine.
As Barb wrote, “Today as [Zelensky] spoke at the Munich Security Conference he stood tall and spoke directly and firmly to the Western Powers saying that they should ‘drop their policy of appeasement towards Moscow. Ukraine has received security guarantees for abandoning the world's third largest nuclear arsenal. We have no weapons. And no security.’ He demanded a clear time-frame for when Ukraine can join the NATO alliance.”
Not bad for a former comedian.
Our thoughts are with all Ukrainians. I sincerely hope diplomacy works and war is averted. But if Russia does invade, I hope the people of Ukraine kicks his ass.
Either way, NATO, please sanction Putin into oblivion.
HONORABLE MENTION
The team (both families and lawyers) that sued Remington and prevailed in their lawsuit.
The plaintiffs had claimed that the manufacturer illegally marketed the military-style Bushmaster to troubled young men like the Sandy Hook gunman, Adam Lanza, aged 20. Remington employed macho slogans like “Forces of opposition, bow down,” “Clear the room” and “Consider your man card reissued” which ran in men’s magazines, online marketplaces, and websites frequented by young men obsessed with combat weaponry. The Bushmaster, the gun Lanza used to slaughter twenty six- and seven-year-old children and six adults, appeared in “Call of Duty,” “a virtual shooting range for potential future users,” Josh Koskoff, lead attorney for the families, said.
In large part because of the Sandy Hook families, Remington has been bankrupted
The despicable Alex Jones has also been found liable in four different suits. We’re just waiting to find out what his punishment will be. All thanks to these families who have suffered a loss so unimaginable that I can’t quite comprehend how they had the strength to fight for justice.
The best way to thank them is for us to fight as hard as we can for gun safety legislation. If it were up to me, there would be no guns at all.
Thank you for using my comment for the Good Person of the Week and I wholeheartedly agree with you that guns should be banned everywhere in America.
Yes, yes, and I love what Hillary said recentl... the GOP wants to ban books but not guns! Her messaging and timing was great ...we need to get her out there screaming from the roof tops that our democracy is hanging from a thread!
