More than 46,000 people were booked into ICE detention centers just in July, the highest monthly total of Donald’s second term. As of the beginning of August, ICE was holding roughly 68,000 people in detention centers across the country. And the people being swept into the system are not simply the violent criminals the Trump regime promised it was targeting. Now, they may continue to insist that despite the surge in arrests, ICE is still focused on the worst of the worst. When NewsNation asked Sean Duffy about reports of increased immigration arrests at airports, this was his response:
I have pushed American travelers to bring their best behavior and maybe their best clothes when they travel. We’re all getting onto a small aircraft, and it can be tight, it can be stressful, especially when you have kids and families, and some people don’t bring their best attitudes and behaviors when they come. But in regard to ICE, I think the president, again, is looking for the bad hombres out there, the ones who are the most violent, the most criminal, and he ran on deporting those people. And if he’s going to airports or if he’s going to truck stops to find those individuals that are harming American citizens, I’m a hundred percent behind it. That’s exactly what he should do as we look at people using our infrastructure, people who came into our country illegally and get benefits from American taxpayers. I think we have no place for that.
Yes, those are the people Donald, I guess, is personally going into airports and truck stops to detain. Of course, Donald is too lazy to walk on a golf course, let alone go to airports and truck stops. But the underlying message seems to be that Donald is sending in ICE agents who are the least trained, least competent, and least qualified people to do the jobs they have been hired to do. And they are arresting people for what, having a bad attitude at the airport or not dressing properly to get on a plane?
This is no longer, to the extent that it ever was, about arresting the worst of the worst. Sixty eight thousand is a lot of people, and the vast majority of them, we know, have absolutely no records of having committed any crimes whatsoever. Sean Duffy made it clear that by bad hombres, idiot, he just meant brown people.
During the first year of Donald’s second term, the number of people in ICE detention increased 77%, while Human Rights Watch calculated that the death rate increased 140%. As ICE detentions have expanded, deaths inside the system have also risen sharply. Human Rights Watch and Physicians for Human Rights found that 52 people died in ICE custody between January 20th, 2025, and June 4th, 2026. Let me put this more bluntly. This means that 52 people were killed by the United States government in what can only be seen as criminally negligent manslaughter.
Even after accounting for the growing detention population, the mortality rate had more than doubled since Donald returned to office, and it reached its highest levels in more than a decade. On August 7th, Reuters reported that in New Jersey, state civil rights officials opened an investigation into Delaney Hall, the privately run ICE detention center in Newark, after the death of a detainee whose family says he was not given needed medical attention.
The 1,000 bed facility operated by GEO Group has faced complaints of spoiled food, unsanitary bathrooms, faulty ventilation, and inadequate medical care. And that’s exactly what they intend. It’s yet another case that can be made, and should be made, against for profit detention facilities. These should be government run. They should be regulated. Care should be standardized. And yeah, I know this is very difficult for these fascists to wrap their heads around, but people should be treated humanely, especially those who shouldn’t be there at all.
On July 7th, an ICE officer shot and killed 52 year old Lorenzo Salgado Araujo in Houston. Salgado Araujo had lived in the United States for 35 years and was driving to a construction job with three coworkers. Federal officials later said agents were actually looking for two other men who were driving a similar van. Oops, I guess. That also is murder. Six days later, on July 13th, an ICE officer shot and killed 25 year old Johann Sebastian Duran Guerrero during another vehicle stop in Biddeford, Maine. He also was not the person ICE had gone there to arrest. By July 15th, Reuters had identified at least seven people fatally shot during federal immigration operations since Donald returned to office.
That same day, Donald had nothing but praise for ICE on Truth Social.
The men and women of ICE are doing a great job, one that has to be done. Crime is way down in America, in many cases with numbers that haven’t been seen in decades. The open border policy of Sleepy Joe Biden allowed 25 million people to pour into our country unchecked and unvetted. Many were criminals and we have to get them out. In order to do this, we must be strong, tough and smart.
Okay, enough. Strong, tough, and smart are adjectives that do not apply to Donald Trump or any of the people in ICE who, again, are the most incompetent, poorly trained, and probably really insecure people out there who have no business having jobs that give them so much power over other human beings.
This rant of his, as well as these numbers we’re seeing, make the case that ICE needs not just to be defunded, it needs to be obliterated. And this is how the so called border czar, Tom Homan, has responded:
Let’s be clear, you can attack the men and women of ICE all you want. It comes down to one simple fact. These people failed to comply with law enforcement. Even some of the major chiefs in this country who don’t necessarily agree with this administration say you always comply with law enforcement. But the hateful rhetoric that ICE isn’t a real law enforcement agency. I see these signs, they resist. Let’s abolish them. They’re fascist. When you keep that hateful rhetoric for a year and a half, there’s going to be that percentage of that population that’s going to be emboldened to take action because they’re not a real law enforcement agency. I should resist them. All they had to do is simply comply with law enforcement. If you don’t like what law enforcement did to you, then go to the court, sue, call the ACLU, do whatever you want to do. We should always comply with law enforcement. If they did, they’d be alive today.
Oh, okay. So it’s the fault of the people ICE murdered that they were murdered by ICE. Got it. That little Nazi thug is lying to you. These are not legitimate operations. The people ICE murdered did not deserve to die. We were just informed that a significant percentage of the people ICE went after were the wrong people. And how are you supposed to respond in a situation in which the people in the uniforms, with the masks on and the weapons, are scaring the hell out of you? What are you supposed to do?
How are you supposed to justify your existence? How are you supposed to get out of that situation when we know, because we have seen it with our own eyes, that they are killing people in cold blood by shooting them in the back of the head or shooting into their cars? So give me a break.
DHS initially said Salgado Araujo rammed an enforcement vehicle and an officer fired in self defense. A later account from the US Attorney did not mention a collision and did not explicitly say the officer feared for his life, which you would have thought would be the first thing the US Attorney would have said to make the case. No officers were reported injured. DHS said Duran Guerrero attempted to flee and that the officer fired out of concern for public safety. The shooting remains under investigation. Duran Guerrero was authorized to work in the United States, according to immigrant rights organizations working with his family. And you do not shoot people who are fleeing, especially if you have no reason to believe that person is armed.
So where is this headed? Congress has provided an additional $45 billion over four years for immigration detention alone. That’s $11.25 billion a year in new funding, enough potentially to expand ICE detention capacity to more than 100,000 people. At the same time, the agency is rushing to expand its workforce because they are swimming in so much funding, and the regime is already signaling that its immigration crackdown may go further.
And with Stephen Miller at the helm, we should not be surprised about this. Miller is talking openly about preventing pregnant foreign women from entering the United States under what the administration calls birth tourism, which is a thing that does not exist because, quite frankly, no pregnant woman in her right mind would want to have a child in this country because our healthcare system is so broken and so expensive.
Little Nazi: I’m here for a little bit and then go home. But if you have birthright citizenship, it means if a person comes here nine months pregnant to go look around at some things in a couple of weeks, that is the mother of a lifetime American citizen and a direct line into American cash and welfare for the rest of that child’s life. So you have to completely restate. Are we banning pregnant women from America? Are we banning foreign pregnant women?
I think he missed his calling as a carnival barker or maybe a sideshow. Well, moving on. Women who are nine months pregnant cannot fly, so there’s that. I don’t think there’s this massive influx of women who are nine months pregnant. And again, our social safety net is at the point of collapse.
So this is not a thing that happens, but these people know that tens of millions of Americans buy this nonsense because they have been conditioned to be so afraid of anybody who doesn’t look like them. The $45 billion detention appropriation exceeds the Justice Department’s fiscal year 2026 budget request for the entire federal prison system.
So again, yes, let’s start with defunding ICE, but our goal should be dismantling it entirely and holding accountable the murderous thugs who have been given free rein by this vicious, corrupt, fascist regime.

When a Democratic administration is back in place, there must be a Nurenburg-like trial where every ICE member who shot anyone will be in chains, and Steven Miller and all the other Trump toadies as well. The US should recognize the ICC and turn Trump over to them. Supreme Court-granted immunity won't save Trump from the ICC.
