He looks like he is dying in that photograph. Shame to those, Stephen Miller, etc that are keeping him going so THEY may stay in power

Shame on LITERALLY EVERYONE that has a platform OF ANY SIZE and isn’t using it against this corrupt, treasonous, kleptocratic, fascist regime. The world is right to protect itself because the people within the US government are bending to his whims - even the democrats!!! Their refusal to stop everything until rule of law is restored - is enabling him. Shame on them all.

Phat Khat's avatar

The problem is they're all on the same payroll. Until we get money out of politics, it won't change.

Francis/Clare's avatar

The Democrats are doing virtually zilch.

The oligarchs behind him and the GOP have a stick up his back, and will keep him a la "weekend at Bernie's." for as long as they can.

It’s looking more and more like the 95 year old Zimbabwe autocrat Robert Mugabe being propped up (sometimes literally) by the assorted grifters and vicious thugs he surrounded himself with. That, I do understand: in that country, regime change meant (at best) loss of livelihood and exile, at worst (and often), death. What is the excuse of the US Congress and other entities and people who should be implementing the checks and balances the founders put in place?

Hopefully the puppet masters will get their comeuppance.

Bottom line, Simply put, Donald is the biggest mistake in the history of the United States.

He would never have gotten where he is were it not for the republican party and a certain portion of americans. Sadly I cannot see a retribution for those who deserve it without

damage to those who do not. The whole house of cards must come down.

I can't imagine how angry Europeans must be with Americans right now. They most likely see us as complacently going along, and enabling Trump. With the exception of some dedicated folks who have undertaken to try and get the public engaged and motivated etc. What are the numbers of folks today who are saying they just won't support Trump? And how many are out in the streets? I remember how upset I was and remain with Israeli's who allowed Netanyahu to continue to bomb Gaza and now terrorize the people of the West Bank. I love Europe but don't expect them to understand the collective illness that this country is operating under at the moment. Perhaps the elderly in Europe who lived through the Hitler Mussolini or Franco years understand...

Canadians are very angry as well. I can’t ever imagine crossing the border again.

I was in Paris in October and a store clerk said "well YOU voted for him, it was a free election!" Sad...

Vicki L Berg's avatar

And what was your response? I have a trip planned in a few months and am an embarrassed American, never thought I would be.

flancynancy's avatar

my language skills are limited so when she started to talk to me about it I simply told her I came to France for peace (meaning I dont really want to talk about it) and thats when she became kind of hostile. Id say its best to avoid any discussion best you can.

Carin Olofson's avatar

Well thst answer says that you support him...

How hard is it to say that you understand the damage that he is doing and will try to stop it?

The fact that USA has enabled corrupt politicians, degradation of the education system and now put the bully slumlord in power is something thst the entire earth will suffer for in coming generstions.

flancynancy's avatar

no I told her he was a horrible man. I left the US specifically to find peace in France. Its a sad time, I didnt vote for him, and the last think I needed to hear was how stupid we all are but I do understand her point of view

Hilary M's avatar

The French have always had a bad attitude towards Americans. Even when I was in Paris in the early 80s their haughtiness was on full display. They saw us as “the ugly Americans” back then. God only knows what they think of us now.

Nancy Fauser's avatar

Then you should emphatically respond that "No, not all Americans voted for him. Unfortunately for Americans at large, the Electoral College handed him the presidency, not the popular vote."

I would VOTE to eliminate the Electoral College, once and for all. And should be able to!

The POPULAR vote, which reflects which candidate receives the most votes, should be the only factor in determining who becomes president.

this fool is crowning himself as the "Court Jester of the World"....unfortunately, a clown with his finger on the nuclear codes that was given the keys to be in control of our country by really ignorant people that voted for him...and the other group of stupid people that stayed home and didn't vote at all because they couldn't stand Harris either.....so this put a felon back in power for a second go around....which he's planning on never leaving....there won't be elections in '26 or '28... he's created a paramilitary police force, ICE, to make sure that happens....Our country and the world is now suffering at the hands of an imbecile that has never been held accountable for any of the crimes he's committed...and there are 100's ...his entire life....can you say THE EPSTEIN FILES ?.....$1Billion buys anyone a place on his "Board of Peace" ? .......give me a break !! ....tRump is like a rabid animal that needs to be put down, or he'll just keep on infecting everything he touches until it's all dead.

We must start now! He has given us an opening. Get on each of your Social accounts and state clearly why you insist that every patriotic American must step up and demand that DJT be removed from office and few good reasons, most recently his Davos speech and his long term craziness! I DONT CARE WHAT MY DEAR FRIENDS THINK NOW! MAGA OR NOT!

Rosemary Siipola's avatar

The Republicans are responsible for this, all of this. History will remember this. We will all pay the price.

Irwin Judson's avatar

Republicans are primarily responsible but the whole of America has to accept the blame. They chose Trump as the president, the leader and commandant and public face of your country. You can’t change that. Even changing your spots, becoming courteous and modest won’t work, too many crimes and ordering everyone around has inured us, the rest of the world, to you. We will no longer gladly, or even tolerably, suffer the American fools. In the Greenland dialect MAGA means “Make the Americans Go Away”

Carin Olofson's avatar

Blaming others continues the divide that keeps the destruction going.

We all need to be galvanised into action to stop this shit❗️

Sue DeGrandis's avatar

A nation is reflected in the leaders it chooses.

America must reckon with the reality that it nominated and elected a deeply damaged individual to its highest office.

This is someone unfit to lead even a small organization, yet entrusted with enormous power. That responsibility does not rest with one man alone—it rests with a political system and a voter base that rewarded greed, division, and the ruthless pursuit of power.

Practices such as gerrymandering and the erosion of democratic norms were not accidental. They were deliberate, and they were accepted.

This is America’s responsibility to own.

History will not forget

Peter Le Beau's avatar

This is a worrying article but cogently argued . I’m a Brit and probably one whose social media history will preclude me from visiting America ( a country I adore and respect) again.

It is old news but highly pertinent , that this could have been prevented if the Democrat strategists , knowing how ill Biden was and taking into account his age and frailty , had selected a candidate with the charisma and ability to beat Trump. The shilly- shallying made it impossible for Kamala Harris to build the momentum and credibility necessary to win the election.

Hearing Gavin Newsom speak at Davos, it appears he would be a highly credible candidate and you had others but the election was lost - a disastrous sliding doors moment in world history and one that will haunt the world for decades to come. How could you let that happen?

Ivy.6677's avatar

As an American, I think you are absolutely right.

Marcy's avatar

Well said. I concur. I’m American.

We all know that Donald is declining, physically and mentally. His handlers/enablers who are keeping him on as the useful puppet, so that they can push their own agenda, don’t realize (in my opinion), how a truly malignant narcissistic sociopathic individual works. Maybe because a lot of them are also narcissistic sociopaths… so they can’t see the forest through the trees… but one thing is for certain. Donald knows he’s dying. He’s angry, that he didn’t get what he wanted out of life— so he feels “owed”. But, in the end, he’s going to take everyone down with him. Everyone. And he has the nuclear codes.

ConnieW's avatar

Yes. If he gets 3 more years the world is toast.

Laura A. Drury's avatar

True… but I don’t think he’ll last 3 more years 🤷‍♀️

James North's avatar

I think it's a mistake to say Trump is crazy. Sure, he's the same narcissistic sociopath he has always been, but calling him mad only frightens the world into taking a Chamberlain stance. The crazy man may launch the nukes so we must comply. Neither he, nor the oligarchs he represents are crazy. They have as much to lose by playing with nukes as the rest of us. Give him an inch and he'll take it all. This is Europe's time to determine whether they will appease the dictator.

Irwin Judson's avatar

Europe and ROW (rest of the world) must move immediately past this appeasement. Canada has.

Darrell Smith's avatar

Greenland? Iceland, Iceland, Iceland. He can't even remember what country he is complaining about. This is what happens when you make it up as you go along. He is not President, he is an insane disgrace.

Eventually the mainstream press will be unable to sanewash his shit because it will be too far out. But where is it now and where is responsible, honest reporting?

Trouble is, it isn't trump who's in charge. There's an entire cast of nefarious malefactors pulling strings, running things behind the scenes. trump is merely an embarrassing bozo of a front man. If he died tomorrow, not much would change given the deep bench of evil, power-hungry, corrupt people waiting in the wings.

Vivian Fletcher's avatar

With JD leading the cast of nefarious malefactors😡

And with Putin behind all of it, focused on the destruction of this country.

All of this is 100 percent true. Here is something else that is true: it won't make a damn bit of difference if enough republicans don't do their job and stop this shit. It's up to them - which means, if recent history is any indication - we're fucked.
