I was only away for four days but I worried that, in my absence, Cap had grown beyond kitten-hood. Luckily, she’s still little. At five months, though, she’ll be entering cat adolescence soon so I have to remind myself to take more pictures.
Even when she’s sitting she’s not entirely still. The only completely focused pictures I can get are when she’s sleeping which, because she runs around with all of that kitten energy, is deeply and long—and usually right next to me.
Linden, who before Cap, was a normal-sized cat, has been handling the presence of his new little sister with more equanimity than I had expected—especially since Cap’s arrival was a total surprise and something for which we had no time to prepare. Death stares notwithstanding, I’m very proud of Linden’s restraint.
Sometimes they’re even on the couch or the bed at the same time—though not within striking distance. And—this gives me hope—they even break bread once in a while.
Although Linden isn’t allowed to eat kitten food anymore. 🙂
Cats, and everything about them, are absolute JOY! I may love them just a little. 🐾
THIS is newsworthy stuff! I wish we could focus on this kind of news and dump the rest. Thanks for sharing something heartwarming, Mary.
