Mary, would you follow up on the question about progressive democratic candidates, especially (?) those describing themselves as democratic socialists? Including those who may be members of the Democratic Socialists of America? My husband (with an B.A. in philosophy and an M.A. in logic and scientific nethod!) is jumping to the conclusion that anyone who lists themselves as a member of that group espouses some of that group's more extreme ideas (abolish prisons, etc.). Whereas I see them as good candidates running on the basis of meeting everyday Americans' needs. (Bernie Sanders is one of our Senators and I support him wholeheartedly, whereas my husband does not.) How do you talk to friends and relatives about defusing assumptions about "socialist" candidates? And debunking the assumption that these candidates support the more extreme measures of the Democratic Socialists of America? Thanks for all you are doing.

The Blue movement is more progressive than socialist. The socialist term is part of the Republican’s name calling. Defunding the police and closing prisons are part of the right’s scare tactics to frighten voters. Candidates on the left need to be careful when addressing these issues and “taking the bait” the right casts in their direction.
As pointed out in this discussion, too much of the activity and objective of our 'leadership' or shall we better put it as those in positions of the privileged, is all based on bank account over ability. Perhaps that has always been the case, but now it seems that under the regime, ethics are for those the leadership deems losers...
This is an extremely bad place for the republic.
The lying grifters and criminals are wrecking the future for all. The treatment of the Epstein victims by those in positions of power are great examples of what we can all expect...NOTHING in the way of help for the victims or for the growing needs of the country at large...
