I just found out that the reason that the CEO of Disney was let go because he was connected to Jeffrey Epstein! We didn’t know that Bob Iger was ever on the island before. Wow for us!

Truth2power's avatar

That’s disappointing, disgusting and pitiful all at the same time. He was talented in his professional role. As a man, in his worst moments, his character- Ug. Who hurts children? What kind of character? Who hides, covers up and lies for these criminals?! 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮

It has been rumored (unsubstantiated) that Walt was a Nazi sympatizer along with other morbidly wealthy. In public, he criticized them, but his actions sometimes seemed to suggest otherwise.

Ellie still in the mix in 26's avatar

It's true he engaged in "red baiting," and that he named names for HUAC. However, I don't think anyone ever even hinted that he was a pervert, participating in the trafficking of girls. He was an unfortunate product of his time, but there is no reason to think he wouldn't have been saddened by these actions of someone who represented his company and trademark.

Larry Lathrop's avatar

You are absolutely right. I didn't mean to suggest that he was in that particular group. It's just that he has been mentioned on more than one occasion, as showing Nazi sympathies. In fact, I believe that this country has always had a secret love affair with the Nazi ways as noted by the way we treated Japanese immigrants vs German immigrants in WWII.

Hitler learned a great deal about how to structure the Nazi death machine by studying American history, especially the disenfranchisement and genocide of Native Americans. He admired Andrew Jackson, who was notoriously brutal towards Natives. Note that during Trump's tenure, a portrait of Andrew Jackson was hung in the Oval Office, and when he received representatives of the Navajo code talkers of WWII, the people that were hugely responsible for defeating Hitler and the Axis powers, he had them stand for the photo session directly underneath that portrait. It was a huge dog whistle and signal to the White Nationalists (today's actual Nazis) that he was their ally.

Who cares how Walt would have felt? He was a flaming racist! The “happiest place on earth for whom?

June Fletcher's avatar

On the other hand, Walt's grandniece Abigail Disney is a liberal and at the forefront of those activists who want to reduce income inequality and increase taxes on the rich (even though she inherited Disney wealth). She was an early and outspoken critic of T, and is a generous philanthropist.

Actually, though Iger was mentioned in the Epstein files in relation to a personal grievance someone had against him, there's no evidence that he was ever actually on the island or that the board fired him because of it. Rather, he's leaving voluntarily. He's already past retirement age and a successor was already queued up.

In the 1940 - 50s Disney worked for DOD making a number of pro-American films that had anti-Nazi messaging. This is the only information that I could find , verified when I wrote about him in a 700 word feature on the man. Bob Iger was mentioned, but only talked about by people who were actually on Epstein Island of Profligacy.

I have banned the use of your criminal, pedophile-protecting uncle’s name in my own writings. I use euphemisms such as Criminal-in-Chief or Orange Menace or other such descriptive terms. But I thought Jimmy Kimmel had a great idea which has caused me to rethink the ban for this one thing. Kimmel said since the felon wants his name on something, we should refer to the Epstein files as the Trump-Epstein files. I like it. And I’m going to use that every chance I get.

The Epstein stuff goes far far beyond billionaires raping girls. Pedophilia is their favorite sport. They look at raping kids the way the average American thinks about going to a baseball game. Baseball is the American pastime for the common man and woman and pedophilia and treason as the pastime of the lawless corporate criminal members of the so-called deep state a.k.a. the global ruling class.

I really hope the women see justice served. So few women in this world of ours do. It would be a relief. And to ensure a radical change in how women are viewed, I'd love to purge all those connected to JE in any way, removed from their positions, wherever they be. Mostly, I want to keep digging in what seems to be the surface of a global network of money laundering, influence peddling, and other illegal games.

All of the files need to be released. This administration, with doling out documents in bits and pieces, is also “flooding the zone” with information which makes it more difficult to determine who committed those crimes, who was actually affiliated with Epstein, and who was just part of the legal team (for example, Gloria Allred’s name is in there). It’s all being dumped together in the “list”, rather than categorized. It’s a mess! Even Whoopie Goldberg’s name is in there, but the facts are that she had been looking to charter a plane for a charity event with Julian Lennon. And she never even flew on the plane! It’s going to be a nightmare to go through, but this DOJ and FBI are compromised. They need some independent oversight committee to investigate this, and go through it.

Mrs. S's avatar

They have deliberately obfuscated and made chaos. I'm hoping the chaos came before they realised they needed to organize files to search them. Leaks will happen, particularly by those wanting to keep their law licenses.

Susanna J. Sturgis's avatar

Jeffrey Epstein was clearly the hub of an extensive operation, but let's not assume that it was unique in anything but its extent and the elite positions of its participants. And who knows? maybe it wasn't unique in those ways either. Have we already forgotten Harvey Weinstein? How about the decades-long scandal that's still rocking the Catholic Church, where the victims were boys and young men? What links them all is men abusing their power over the powerless. Unfortunately, it's too often the case that they have women as accomplices and enablers. Ghislaine Maxwell is not unique, nowhere close -- look at Pam Bondi, Kristi Noem, and Karoline Leavitt, all of whom are covering up for Trump.

Theeyes's avatar

Thank you for including the current trump and pedophile protectors.

It seems that when men get rich, they think they should be able to do anything they want and with whomever. That is pretty sick and we do need to know who those perpetrators of the violence against girls and women were and those who helped to finance and promote the Trumpstein evil should be held accountable no matter who they are and what positions they hold, after proof of their involvement, of course.

I learned a lot about malignant narcissists, sociopaths, histrionics and pathological liars. Like Mary Trump I had a family member who was one of them. When I was able to grasp the concept that these people are toddlers and adult bodies a lot of things came into perspective such as how to deal with them if you have to deal with them.

You don’t argue with them because that’s what they want.

You don’t justify your actions or beliefs to them because they’re too evil to understand anything that’s good and not self-serving. They have no empathy or humanity or humility.

Never defend yourself when they accuse you of something. Just tell them to fuck off.

Do not bother explaining anything to them because they don’t wanna know anything remotely associated to the truth.

If you have to engage with them, be condescending, dismissive, mock them and speak to them like you would speak to an incorrigible child.

The narcissist is a troll who exists to create chaos. They are out of control in their own filthy lives and since they cannot control themselves they have the need to control others. That is one of the things that fuels their “narcissistic supply“.

Nothing that comes out of the mouth of a sociopath or a narcissist is authentic. They don’t have an authentic self. Everything they say or do is an act and in their eyes all we are are props in their quest to increase their narcissistic supply. We make the mistake of thinking that these people are human. They are not human and their genetics and environment designed them to be inhuman. They have no shame and no empathy because they were born that way.

PlasticFish's avatar

I, too, have had to deal with such a relative, who destroyed our immediate family.

Good post, but I respectfully disagree with the following:

> If you have to engage with them, be condescending, dismissive, mock them and speak to them like you would speak to an incorrigible child.

What you suggest might seem emotionally satisfying to you, it is really best to be rational and unemotional. Especially do not give them the satisfaction of seeing you display irritation or anything like it. Control yourself, and thereby control the situation.

Hound's avatar

Actually, dismissing them and discounting them can mitigate their crazy stuff. Whether it is satisfying to the person putting them in their place, really isn’t the point.

When we’re dealing with children we have to be the authority. Authoritative parents make the best parents. You can’t have kids making the rules and they need guard rails. They cannot be given autonomy when they are not mature enough to handle it. The narcissist is a toddler in an adult body. They will have a temper tantrum in order to manipulate the adult. The adult must stand their ground. As the child grows amateurs and is able to handle autonomy a parent can decide how much freedom the child can have.

Treating a narcissist like a toddler going through the terrible twos will never cure them but it connects as a roadblock to slow them down And it also makes him realize that a person rebuking them in that manner is some of that they cannot manipulate.

My mother was a histrionic narcissist. A real drama queen and I’m manipulator and a crazy maker. My brother would say to her after she had a one of her temper tantrums,”Envelope please”, And present her with the academy award For the best actress in a drama.

If someone were to talk to Donald Trump after he says something really mean and vicious, They should say to Donald, That was mean! Say you’re sorry. If he’s having one of his usual Trumper tantrums people should ask him this question. Donald do you need a hug.

The secret to trolling somebody is not getting angry with them or having any emotional reaction. The idea is to push their buttons and when you get good at it it’s really easy to do and very satisfying because you are the one who’s out of control they are out of control. This is this is what happened to Pam Bondi in front of Congress. She flipped out and she exposed some things about her disposition and probably crimes she is involved with.

A good interrogator or prosecutor knows how to get under the skin of a scumbag. A lot of criminals are narcissists. I’m sure for a lot of people including myself there is some satisfaction in destroying one of these people emotionally and psychologically but that’s just a side effect of getting some justice on some level.

There are some pretty good videos online from psychologist that explain how to frustrate and neutralize a narcissist. When a narcissist loses control they will melt down.

John Escher's avatar

Control? Come on. Then nothing happens. So no pulled punches. Speak up and out. Mock but with intelligence and focused, well researched evidence. Don't give the Trumpstein pedophiles an inch for they then will take a mile.

There is no way a sex trafficking ring that large was run by only two people. Agreed that anyone found to be guilty should be locked up after trial and the key should be thrown away. Have a feeling the orange monster is right up there and part of the trafficking. If Bill Clinton is in on partaking of young underaged women, he too should be tried convicted and jailed with the key thrown away.

Jamie's avatar

And they had customers! In addition to co-cospirators, they had customers. I don’t hear enough talk about them.

freddiethek's avatar

We do need to talk about their customers also. They also need to be identified, prosecuted and jailed. Sex with an underaged woman is known as rape.

Jamie's avatar

Absolutely! All child rapists, and those who are covering for them, must be removed from society and locked in prison. Regardless of their political affiliation or standing in the business world. We cannot tolerate such sick, evil behavior.

Mrs. S's avatar

Let's not use the pedos' phrase of underage women. The accurate words are sexual abuse/assault of child(ren).

freddiethek's avatar

I do not like calling them girls. I know they really are. They real phrase is the rape of young girls.

Mrs. S's avatar

And boys. NY state has an extremely narrow definition of rape. Sexual assault encompasses all forms of sexual battery, including that of boys.

freddiethek's avatar

I agree. Anyone who knows churchs; all kinds; knows this is true.

Mrs. S's avatar

Back when the photo came out of Clinton getting a back massage, he was fully dressed. One of the children said she never saw him engaged in sex or child abuse on the island. Time will tell. Photos of President Clinton and Chelsea with famous musicians (all three had their own children or grandchildren) were from his time in the WH, not criminal. The amateurish way they were mixed in with trumplican-epstein-maxwellian files makes a thing released by this doj dubious.

As much as I admire and respect Joe Biden, I can't help wondering why he didn't release all of the Epstein files when he was president. Then we might have been spared our current national nightmare.

I can only surmise that Epstein's tentacles were so far-reaching that there were Democrat, as well as Republican, politicians and donors named in them. He targeted anyone in power, or near to it. So sadly, perhaps Biden or people in his administration were protecting them.

Also makes me wonder--if Epstein was influencing powerful people through blackmail, perhaps under the aegis of foreign entities, did this rot stop with his death? Are there other Epsteins out there influencing what's happening now?

Susanna J. Sturgis's avatar

Why should *Biden* have released the files? We might ask why the Department of Justice didn't pursue the case, but do we know for sure how much information they had about Epstein? Epstein was found dead in his cell on August 10, 2019. Trump was still president.

June Fletcher's avatar

There are millions of files on Epstein, going back decades. He was convicted as a sex offender in 2008. So by the time Biden became president in 2020, there would have been plenty of evidence amassed that would have shown the connections between powerful men and children.

Prosecutions should have started by Biden's DOJ as soon as he took office, but none did. We need to ask why not? Who was being protected?

And remember how releasing the Epstein files was a rallying cry of T and the GOP when he was running in 2024, while Biden was president? It's obviously hypocritical now, but also proof that everyone knew they were explosive. T just thought that he could cover up his own involvement as soon as he took office (and has been partially successful in doing just that).

I think the obvious answer is that powerful people in both parties were involved, both within government and on a corporate level, so the DOJ didn't act in either T's or Biden's administrations.

Also, any president could have released the files they had simply by declassifying them.

B Belinda's avatar

Presidents still have to follow orders from the courts.

And I think that democrats were likely trying to keep away from being accused of "lawfare" that trump continually accused them of.

They probably should have been tougher. But that was then...

June Fletcher's avatar

I don't know of any law that would prevent a President from declassifying any classified documents. He's the Commander in Chief (and hey, T says you can even do it with your mind)!

I know Biden and Garland were both trying to dot all the is and cross all the ts when it came to prosecuting T for election interference, both for political and legal reasons.

Unfortunately, they didn't anticipate Judge Aileen Cannon (who I expect will be rewarded with a Supreme Court seat), and the country is suffering for it.

To the best of my knowledge, Biden's DOJ wasn't pursuing T for his involvement with Epstein, either financially or because of sex with minors.

Despite that, there are plenty of other people besides T who were chummy with Epstein, tangled up with him financially, and visited his island. They should have been prosecuted by Biden's DOJ, no matter their party affiliation or how big their bank accounts.

That they weren't and aren't is a national shame and travesty of justice for the victims, IMO.

Biden could have released the files after the election but before T took office, if he was worried about the political ramifications.

If I were still a reporter, I would ask Biden if he regrets this. I hope someone does. It's a big question mark.

.

Mrs. S's avatar

Declassifying is one thing. Publishing legal documents and data in the midst of maxwellian's trial, then extended appeals a la king, so to speak, would be executive overreach and diving across boundaries that no Pres other than Nixon had ever done. It would have gotten more than a rebuke from her trial judge. Until 4547, these things were not done. Hindsight.

Susanna J. Sturgis's avatar

Slate's Shirin Ali suggests that Cannon may be angling for a SCOTUS seat (sorry about godawful URL): https://link.slate.com/view/5ea71cd8bee355309f3d201eqen0d.2ab/b9953c98. How reasonable are such expectations? Hard to say. Trump's nominees have mostly (all?) come through the Federalist Society/Leonard Leo pipeline, and I don't think Cannon moves in those circles, though she *is* a member of the Federalist Society. And even with the current composition of the U.S. Senate, I'm not at all sure she would be a shoo-in.

Mrs. S's avatar

OMG I hope not.

Mrs. S's avatar

They could have acted during George Bush's administration, but did not. Plenty of rich and somehow powerful in the files and Federalist Society.

Mrs. S's avatar

Yes, and President Biden kept a clear boundary between the WH and DOJ. The FBI had files that weren't part of the maxwell prosecution that Wray could have released.

Calpernia55's avatar

I’ll tell you right now, it’s going to infuriate me if a WOMAN is the only person to be prosecuted for crimes committed against these young girls. Yes, she’s guilty. But she wasn’t acting alone. The MEN who participated/associated in JE’s activities need to be ostracized! Every single one! If we want to send a clear message, that’s what MUST HAPPEN! Get your priorities straight!

Michael's avatar

trump has called Epstein "disgusting" and Maxwell "evil", yet he has ordered his DOJ to coverup the Epstein Files which he campaigned on releasing. And trump is considering pardoning the convicted human trafficker "evil" Maxwell and authorized her to be removed from maximum security prison to a minimum security "club fed". I think we can see the flickering of flames behind all the smoke.
