As a Brit, I'm glad that my prime minister is currently standing up to Donald's nonsense (and my other half, a doctor formerly working in Barcelona, is proud of Spain's similarly defiant response).

Beginning a war with absolutely no plan and no clue of objectives is an absolute disaster, not just for international affairs, but for the economy of the country starting that war.

All because one pitifully thin-skinned man is flailing around in search of a way to distract critics while trying to improve his approval ratings, egged on by xenophobes and war-machine profiteers.

I'm so sorry, America. You deserve better.

Yodagirl's avatar

Most of America deserves better, and thank you for that, but there's still s cadre of knuckle-draggers that believe in him.

Thank you. I thank the world for understanding that it's not We The People here doing this. It's the worst president in America history. 72% want him and his entire administration gone. I personally want peace. Feed the poor and elderly, figure out how we can have a great universal healthcare. My list goes on. I pray we get our world friends back as soon as we get rid of the horrible Trump and his regime.

Based on everyone I've spoken to over here, just about zero Brits think this is what the majority of Americans want or voted for - even those foolish enough to vote for Donald. We're rooting for you to weather this storm and looking forward to standing with you all as mutually respectful partners on the world stage again soon. Hopefully sooner than any of us expect.

Thank you - it seems we need all the help and support we can gather these days as the administration is hell bent on stabbing peace in the back.

Thank you Mike! Wished I lived over there!

Go Spain 🇪🇸 ❤️ Meanwhile, Starmer is allowing the US to use British bases for their attacks. I never thought I would regret voting for Labour, but here we are.

Mike Sowden's avatar

Honestly, I don't regret my vote! I mean, I like what the Green Party is doing right now, but in the last election it was Labour or the Conservatives, two imperfect choices, and Kemi Badenoch is currently asking why we didn't capitulate to Donald completely. Instead, Starmer is allowing British airbases to be used *only* on strikes against Iranian missile sites, as a defensive measure for British citizens in the Middle East to be protected, not for anything else (as per the BBC, anyway). That seems prudent in a bad situation. God knows what Farage and his loons would be doing in the same scenario.

Vikki's avatar

Ugh. Farage as Prime Minister. I shudder at the thought! He's just a trump wannabe. I really like Zack Polanski, his messaging, and how he's galvanising the Green Party. That's where my vote will be going next time. As soon as I find another job, I think I'll be signing up as a member. Wasted vote? Maybe, but Your Party had too much toxicity from the outset. I'd rather vote for a dud than vote against my conscience. The Labour Party is simply tory light these days. Remember, Starmer et al were trying to cut benefits from the least to funnel more money to the few. They're not longer the party of the working class.

It’s a tragic senseless loss of patriotic young people

What a horrible legacy of death, deceit and ignorance!Donald tRump is proving his incompetence and the hollow man he is. He should be fired, then, jailed!

The planning for war is usually done by educated generals and their subordinates. It looks like this was planned by a committee of chimpanzees or should I say Trumpanzees?

A vote of impeachment and trial would be good right about now. But MAGAS would rather send our children to their death before stopping this stupid game of his. And his cabinet is certifiably nuts just like him. I am sickened.

OUR children (well, in my case, a great-grandchild), not THEIR children. This will be more of an instance of Fortunate Sons, than ever before in our history, and the Big Fool in the White House is certainly no Teddy Roosevelt, insisting that sons serve their country.

Despite reading many books and an uncountable number of journal articles, I still don't understand how someone as unqualified and corrupt as your uncle managed to deceive such a large number of voters. I am no longer the least bit sympathetic to the plight or problems of Trump voters. I am just angry at their nastiness and stupidity.

I am so sorry for you that you were born into the Trump family. It has been a terrible burden for you.

Steve Ridling's avatar

Remember when Zelenskyy said their country doesn’t have elections while at war? I truly believe trump will have this in mind and try to implement this (even though it’s false for the U.S.) at the Midterms.

muddy102's avatar

Well, that's in the Ukrainian Constitution. It is not in ours. We have voted throughout every war.

Robot Bender's avatar

We had elections just fine during WW II. We need to keep pointing that out when Trump wants to stop them.

Aviana NW's avatar

I kinda wondered if he’ll use this as an excuse to stop elections.

We need to make a distinction between Ukraine, a country in which voters traveling to their polling locations would be under constant bombardment; and the U.S. , a nation in which voters can enjoy relative safety while its war machine carries on destructive activity thousands of miles away.

Declan is the son of a college friend. 20 years old. Gone because of an ill-conceived "war" invented by Tr--p and BB to distract from domestic scandals and enrich Tr--p through Saudi Arabia. When oh when will the GOP start holding him accountable?!

Carol Gamm's avatar

I am a Gold Star niece and am so sorry for your friend’s loss. Declan, like my uncle, was undoubtedly a good person and a beloved family member. Our thoughts are with them.

Vikki's avatar

In answer to your question regarding the GOP holding the orange menace to account, probably sometime never.

Sigh…..😔

The senseless violence that Donald Trump unleashes is so sad and terrifying. As an American, I’ve seen this story so many times. This country is sick and we will not make it another 250 years with this genocidal mindset. God Bless the victims. I’m so sorry.

It would be entirely plausible to believe that the words spoken or written by DJT had come from a 9 or 11 year old boy. Every time he speaks it strengthens the image I have of him as a spoiled child with severely stunted development. There’s nothing adult in his demeanor or behavior. If he’s told “no, you can’t do that” he throws a tantrum or sulks, and then proceeds to “do that” anyway, just as a spoiled adolescent would. I think he really believes the Supreme Court granted him not just immunity but permission to do anything to anybody anywhere at anytime, and he intends to do just that. He’s a bad seed.

Speaking metaphorically, spank him profusely and give him permanent time out in the corner. Ground him for life.

I can't throw cash, but you have my support.

freddiethek's avatar

Do not know how to say this, Mary, but we will have no check on the power of the orange monster until after the elections and the swearing in of the new Congress. That is, assuming, he allows elections to proceed.

I don't know who's worst - netanyahu, trump or hegseth! All are the worst people to be leading us and allies into an all out Mideast war! What's even more alarming is that these 3 belligerent warmongers think their side will win! Every hour US gets plunged deeper into a conflict that ONLY lines the pockets of witkoff, jared, the Entire trump family, and billionaires who profit off oil, war, and fighting, plus the gullible goons in the cabinet. None of them are on the same page, never mind the same book! When are we going to stop the madness? Or is it already too late?

Thanks for sharing the collaboration with the Saudi royal family. Looking for timelines between his foreign emoluments and use of our armed forces. PS. Hate it when the political civilian leadership wrap themselves in the honor of the military as if THEY are the patriotic ones. My Congressional Reps, answering my input about starting wars and killing people, always praise the military, as if they had any choice or any affiliation with the politicians in charge current term.
