100 years ago the Republicans controlled the American government and were getting rich doing it. They lied about everything and when it finally crashed in 1929, many of them lost their riches and social position.
Here in Arkansas the few jobs evaporated. Fathers had no way to feed their family. My parents were children but they suffered also. My grandfather Hiram Hatfield had to become a sharecropper. They lived in basically a shack with no interior walls. They nailed potato sacks over the openings in the exterior walls. The Hatfield girls included my mom who was the oldest. They had one coal oil lantern to do their school work by. No electricity or running water.
20 years later my grandparents lived in a house with electricity but it was 1958 before they had running water. Hiram dug the shallow well himself.
Many of the men who couldn't feed their families were ruined by the Great Depression. Their grandchildren are here now. All of the positive things that have happened since 1929 are being torn down by the Republicans so they can get rich.
It will crash again and the people who can no longer feed their families or themselves will be hunting for the Republicans that did that to them.
Now the cost has gone from $250 million to $300 million. It wouldn't surprise me if the final cost is more than half a billion dollars. Since your uncle has proven with this project that he just can't tell the truth, at this point why should any sane person believe ANYTHING he says?
