Agree.

I hoped knowledge of Project 2025 would spread like wildfire and motivate people to fight to prevent it. If the democratic base doesn’t know (or doesn’t care), I feel we’re dooming ourselves. It’s not unreasonable to worry this may be our last legitimate election.

Sounds like we have some work to do in getting the word out about Project 2025. Have shared it with a number of friends and family members and I know by their reaction, they are sharing also.

Print out some of the more drastic and horrific steps the GOP and Trump want to do in the Project 2025 pages and then print out on the same paper equal amounts of things Biden wants to accomplish in his next four years and hand these out to every person you see, or visit while canvassing. Show the people the contrast.

We must not let the threat of violence silence our voices and our voting. More than ever before we must speak out!

I have been wearing this "Reject Project 2025" t-shirt recently 👇

Well, that’s certainly defeatist! Are you saying that we should just give in because the right is threatening violence? How cowardly. That’s what they want. They think that we are cowards and will give in to all their demands, even though there are more of us than there are of them. You ought to listen to the women who are beginning to fight for our democracy and for our freedom, led by Heather Cox Richardson and others like her. I’d rather be dead than live in the kind of country that filthy Trump and his adherents would govern. We are facing exactly what the Germans and others faced 90 years ago, and we, the decent and honorable people of this country, must prevail!

Trump is also trying to buy this election, like always, but bribery and corporate-owned politicians/judges are legal, so who cares??

If Trump does not lose in a landslide victory for Biden, it will be due to foreign interference. If he is elected, may God help America and the rest of the world. He is indeed the most dangerous person and he will only win by cheating.

Fundamental and evangelical Christian churches hammer a lot of stuff into women and keep preaching it. Especially the Southern Baptist Convention. It is called brainwashing. It happened to me.

SBC is total patriarchy; women are never allowed a leadership position. The wife of senior pastor at my old megachurch is a MUCH BETTER preacher than her husband. He is uppity and revered. Women are forbidden from teaching men. A class of young boys (or coed) must either have a married couple or male teachers. Divorced women are definitely treated differently; it's subtle though. Sexual harrassers are tolerated and complainants are fired from church staff. I spent a lot of time at this church during a difficult marriage and post-divorce. Even worked there part time. I absolutely could not see it at the time - how brainwashed I was. The scripture is 🍒-picked and some parts of the BIBLE are never preached about at all. I always found that strange. When a woman in that church makes a complaint or asks for help from a pastor (there are many), she is either rebuffed as a second-class person or manipulated. People knew my X was bad, but made me believe he would change. I hung on for a long time.

The SBC became more political; that's why Beth Moore left. She's another great preacher who was always just "a Bible teacher." I began to see much less separation between church and state. The preaching says homosexuals are welcome, but that is not true. A gay person in that church will be subjected to conversion therapy. Oh yeah, look out, if the sick filthy criminal wins a manipulated election, conversion therapy for queers will return with a vengeance!!

I quit going in March 2020 when pandemic began and the crap in my head from that church began to clear out. I completely understood I'd been brainwashed/gaslit..

Never went back to ANY church and now have my own unique relationship with God, absolute freedom of worship!

I don't take that freedom for granted; we might lose it.

Thank you, Mary.

Thanks, back at you!! You're right, it is Southern Baptist Conference, not convention, lol.

Excellent article, I saved it to go over again. I like that word "knabenschander." Too bad it means boy molester. So MEN changed the Bible to say - men, do not lie down with men, when all along, God meant boys. I never knew that. I think in the Baptist atmosphere, members are discriminated against for questioning and/or expressing liberal views. You learn to shut up and not question, like a cult. It's fear I think, of being outside the "protection" of the cult, like Scientology. It's an evil world, out there, blah, blah. It's up to the SBC to evangelize the world, and that gets heavy and tiring. Guilt is used to make the members work harder toward whatever the mission statement is. Every church has a DIFFERENT mission statement. Anyway, thanks for your kind words; I'm a social worker too, retired.

When Vance made it clear that there should be no exceptions for an abortion in the case of rape or incest he also said that such a pregnancy is an "inconvenience". One thing we have on our side is that women, especially women of color, have always been underestimated by men. There are more women registered to vote than men. I participated in the Women's March. Women are the ones behind the state abortion rights ballot initiatives that have been passed and there are about 11 of them on the ballot in November. Get every woman you know registered and out to vote. This is a FAFO moment for women and they won't see us coming.

I agree with you. I can never understand how any women can support Trump and Vance.

But even those women need reproductive rights. No, because there are many situations when there is a serious problem with a pregnancy and to save the life of the woman, and/or to keep her from experiencing sepsis or other serious medical problems, or the fetus has a condition that is incompatible with life outside the womb, an abortion is necessary. I don't agree that the government should make these decisions. I don't think the government should take away the right of woman to make this decision in consultation with her doctor. Politicians should be making medical decisions for women. People are entitled to their religious views, but they aren't entitled to forcing them upon others.

RFK JR is the sacrificial lamb, in there for the sole purpose of pulling votes from Biden - and he knows it. trump may have promised him a cabinet seat, but trump is not known for keeping his promises.

As to Vance - nothing in today's USA including being a convicted felon, rapist, insurrectionist and outright traitor prevents Trump from being President according to the illiterate 6 on SCOTUS or the 11 Federal District Circuit Court in South Florida. Despite Amendment 14 Section 3. All that counts is MONEY

Thank you Mary for your fire and clarity. Women are going to lead the way in this election. It is because we are strong that fascism is on the rise, but we are going to win this. Don’t stop believing it. Do NOT obey in advance…..

Thank you for this excellent article, Mary.

I love the way Vance said the US is being run by childless cat ladies.

I'm a childfree retired metallurgical engineer. I had a wonderful 37-year engineering career and am have been very happily married to my husband for 28 years. He's black; I'm white. Oh, and we both love cats but aren't bitter at all. We love life. Thankfully, we live in the SF Bay Area but are unfortunately part of the USA's march into fascism.

We're using our spare time to encouraging people all over the USA to vote blue up and down the ballot.

Wow what is he talking about???? How many women are Fortune 500 CEOs - he's full of sh*t. In My 30 year career (product design/party goods industry), the longer I stayed and the higher up I went - there were less and LESS women around. And FORGET about a Girl's Club! Never happened in my world, sadly. So he's just 'juicing' the (already existing) anti-woman vote - and I'm sick of these creepy statements. Why aren't they stopped? Anger & threats are normalized every f'n day! All so no one notices THEY HAVE NOTHING. All this ginned-up 'fight' - they aren't even fighting for anyone or anything in particular. Just playing media games. STOP FALLING FOR IT... THEY HAVE NO IDEAS for America. (AND THE ONLY REASON they are going after Joe's age constantly - is because he is the ONLY ONE that can beat him, IMHO).

According to reports earlier today Vance removed the anti-abortion statements from his website shortly before or after his announcement as the winner in the Veepstakes. Given his and Trump’s views on immigrants, I immediately wondered how his wife is feeling. She is the daughter of immigrants, met J D at Yale law school and was a registered democrat before they married. She did go on to clerk for John Roberts and Brett Kavanaugh, before going to a law firm described as somewhat progressive. She resigned from that firm yesterday.

In the past apparently her husband expressed amazement that people would listen to classical music for pleasure. She is on the board of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and is an honorary trustee of I think the Washington Opera. Apparently she is happy to be ab-zorbed (using a robotic voice here as a nod here to various sci-fi shows, although I think the voice was from The Borg rather than Doctor Who). But she had a choice to submit or at least subjugate her life to men. The rest of us need to vote to make sure it doesn’t happen to us.

Just another Trumpian Stepford Wife. Sad that now she will be another sycophant helping American women be “under his eye.”

I'm 66, too old to have children, but I got sick to my stomach when l saw Vance get picked. I know his stances, his views and what he'll do. Not caring about what happens to Ukraine, allowing women to die from deadly pregnancies, children going hungry, etc. I'll vote blue, all down ballot too.

Check his basement for pods, more like (reference is Invasion of the Body Snatchers). He & DJT want us all to follow them mindlessly. We have to ensure this absolutely doesn't happen.

Funny you should say that. I’ve been searching everywhere for pods since all this started. Like minds. You are so correct!💙💙

Now that I think about it, of course he would never pick a woman. A woman or Rubio would have been the toughest against President Biden, in my opinion, but he needs someone who will do and say anything without question, so JD was the pick. Both despicable, especially after the stance JD took on Don in the past.

the MAGA stooges would all gargle trump's little mushroom to get the VP gig. They don't give the tiniest little shit about the country or their own self respect. Unfortunately I had Turd Cruz in the VP bingo. They're all scum. Sorry not sorry.
