There’s also no proof that psychoanalysis actually works. So many of these people in this psychotherapy industry are charlatans because none of them had the balls to call out Oprah’s flunky Dr. Phil and her other flunky Dr. Oz. That shows the amount of integrity that industry has. They are as bad as the law industry.

The best therapy I’ve come across for people who are neurotic assholes is rational emotive therapy. You probably never heard of that but the guy who created it was a guy named Albert Ellis and Albert Ellis called out the sham industry and Got a lot of them to admit what they were doing was absolutely worthless. I’m waiting to witness a man “speak out against the men who are misogynists and who prey upon women.” I don’t think I’ve seen one instance of this. I’m married to a good man who is smart, kind, not prejudiced, and respectful of his mother (before she passed away) and his sisters. While he admits there are a lot of misogynists, including his best friend, he doesn’t call them out on it. While I understand some people are not confrontational, it puzzles me why men give other men a pass on their misogyny.

Mary, I agree with nearly all that you say. But one should not equate limits on “gender affirming care” for children with endorsement of conversion therapy. One is a complex issue that is a misnomer (“gender affirming care” is often not actually affirming of gender nor appreciative of or advancing the health of children) while the other is pure evil quackery when actually inflicted on, especially, children.
You’re a legal scholar, so I defer to you on the meaning of today’s ruling (my expertise is a physician working with psychological trauma in children), but my understanding of today’s SCOTUS decision is that it was not so much an endorsement of the practice as a rejection of the language of the Colorado bill which, in their reading, limited free speech. I can see no such claim if the law forbid the actual practice of something called “conversion therapy” and the medical/psychological state boards deemed it malpractice, which they should. A license for anyone advertising or practicing this should be pulled. They should be liable for malpractice claims. The harm they do needs to be codified as criminal.

There’s also no proof that psychoanalysis actually works. So many of these people in this psychotherapy industry are charlatans because none of them had the balls to call out Oprah’s flunky Dr. Phil and her other flunky Dr. Oz. That shows the amount of integrity that industry has. They are as bad as the law industry.

But, everything his administration has done since being back in office, has been against women. Yes, not all men behave this way but I'd like to know when do they stand up and speak out against the men who are misogynists and who prey upon women? Again, some do, but it's a very small percentage, and they aren't loud enough.

I’m waiting to witness a man “speak out against the men who are misogynists and who prey upon women.” I don’t think I’ve seen one instance of this. I’m married to a good man who is smart, kind, not prejudiced, and respectful of his mother (before she passed away) and his sisters. While he admits there are a lot of misogynists, including his best friend, he doesn’t call them out on it. While I understand some people are not confrontational, it puzzles me why men give other men a pass on their misogyny.

Perhaps she tried to leave, and the incident was the final 'push' (no pun intended) that made her get a divorce. Not pressing charges is extremely common within domestic violence situations, especially when the husband is exceedingly wealthy and/or well connected. It just adds fuel to the fire.

Mary, I agree with nearly all that you say. But one should not equate limits on “gender affirming care” for children with endorsement of conversion therapy. One is a complex issue that is a misnomer (“gender affirming care” is often not actually affirming of gender nor appreciative of or advancing the health of children) while the other is pure evil quackery when actually inflicted on, especially, children.
You’re a legal scholar, so I defer to you on the meaning of today’s ruling (my expertise is a physician working with psychological trauma in children), but my understanding of today’s SCOTUS decision is that it was not so much an endorsement of the practice as a rejection of the language of the Colorado bill which, in their reading, limited free speech. I can see no such claim if the law forbid the actual practice of something called “conversion therapy” and the medical/psychological state boards deemed it malpractice, which they should. A license for anyone advertising or practicing this should be pulled. They should be liable for malpractice claims. The harm they do needs to be codified as criminal.
