As a community college professor in the rural South, NPR/PBS was one of the few resources I could send my students to that was an alternative to the FOX network constantly streaming in their homes or those of their families. As far as Trump and Epstein, my late father, a farmer with an enormous amount of integrity, often warned us that "the guilty dog barks." I cannot think of a more apt aphorism! --Doc in North Carolina

As a couple of Canadians who have sworn off buying anything that might benefit the US, but are huge fans of PBS, we are seriously considering making an exception to our personal boycott and contributing to PBS! Would love to see some kind of benefit aside from their normal, seasonal concerts of old time favourites. How about a series of concerts, a 1 night special for audiences in NY, Seattle, Chicago, California - with all the big names showing up to help out? wondering if you could also get the stars of the British programming we love so much to make appearances also, getting rid of public broadcasting will affect their pocket books as well, consider how many of their shows are aired on PBS.

As a Seattlelite (who also lived in NYC for some years), you're striking a chord with me - and thank you for considering this contribution exception. As an aside, I want to do my usual BC visits (and maybe Montreal in the fall when visiting NYC friends, but concerned re: US customs - not Canadian.)

I'm going to ponder your idea re: special concerts....I think you have something there.

How kind.

Btw, I'm native to the PNW - grew up in Portland with family roots in Seattle. My father loved BC and even moved to Vancouver late in life. Is there a way to private message here?

Your idea about a British engagement also resonates - neglected to mention.

Time for Bill, Hilary, Barack and Michelle to call the men in white coats to sedate Dotard, strip off his clothes, put him into a straitjacket, carted off in a white paddy wagon to the nearest mental hospital, locked 🔒 up in a tiny cell and left to rot & die.

It's a trait of the Narcissist especially the Malignant Narcissist. They talk too much about themselves and their grandiose ideation about themselves leads to admissions if you listen. They brag constantly and often don't know when to shut up. They can't stand to be puted but they can't stop giving teases to hint at their great deeds, lol

Trump’s hold? It’s pure blackmail — and they all know it. Alito: the upside-down flag idiot. Thomas: “show me the money.” Kavanaugh: frat-boy beer junkie. Gorsuch: smug douche. Roberts: hungry for unchecked power. Barrett: silent, complicit. GOP Senate? Still paying ransom while he loots the country.

Epstein was just the start — what the hell does he have on the rest? That’s the missing piece.

We're reliving "L'etat c'est moi" again: "The state is I." The megalomaniac is convinced that he, and only he, IS the United States so anything that pisses him off is, by definition, "treason." This explains why he kept exhorting the January 6th mob of the blissfully deluded that, "If you don't help me undo the results of [an unquestionably valid]

election, you won't have a country anymore." In his syphilitic mind, anyone who opposes or criticizes him in any manner is guilty of treason. The scary part is that millions of Americans and all three branches of our federal government believe him either unwittingly or out of unbridled Machiavellian thirst to be close to money and power.

“A few months ago, I told the American people I did not trade arms for hostages. My heart and my best intentions tell me that's true, but the facts and evidence tell me it is not.”

― Ronald Reagan

The more things change, the more they stay the same. Another cover-up from another administration, same story, different day. Nothing sticks, and they are flooding the zone, so we are all dizzy and nauseous. It's no wonder 85 million registered voters did not bother to show up in 2024.

To survive these challenging times, we need to remember what Mr. Rogers taught us: to "Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping."

Thank you, Mary, for all you do to help keep us informed and inspired with your humor and daily emotional support clips. Please keep 'em coming.

No distractions, TACO!

The next government should demand 50% ownership of all corporations valued over $20 billion. Then negotiations will happen for a fair tax rate. Capitalism is out of favor for

Common citizens now.

YES. If all the billionaires and centi-millionaires paid a 5% wealth tax, none of us making less than $150,000/year will hav to pay taxes to support our current government spending. The rich are sucking up all the money. #garyseconomics

For Presidents, the citizens have a special deal:

1. They have a salary of $400,000 per year. They work only for the U.S. and us. That salary will be tax free. Plus the usual expenses for maintaining the White House.

2. Any increase in wealth (from all sources, excepting those in a blind trust) during the year will be taxed at 100%.

3. Blind trusts will be taxed as usual. And if the blind trust is not as blind as it should be then that will grounds for impeachment of the President. And taxed at 100%.
