The cost is much greater than what Trump & Sons, Inc. has collected. Numerous federal contracts have been awarded to companies in which the kids have an interest and to companies in which large Republican donors have an interest. That's theft with long-term consequences, and it largely destroys the integrity of the entire acquisition process going forward.

The US has for a number of years been the most legally corrupt nation in the developed world, if not the world as a whole, a situation effectively permitted by its Supreme Court with its quid pro quo ruling i.e. a bribe is not a bribe if it is not presented as a bribe, so it should perhaps not be surprising that it would eventually end up with a presidency for which bribery was not only something not to be hidden but actually to be paraded before the public.
