Did it seem curious to you or normal, that your uncle raised his fist and shook it in the air seemingly in defiance after just having an attempt made on his life? It just seemed strange to me - I would think one would have been in shock.

Pamela Tanton's avatar

Same question here! A lot of people have remarked about that. Insight from Mary would be interesting.

shawn's avatar

Yes i was wondering same

Michael's avatar

He yelled fight 3 times as he had his fist in the air.

Bob Lewis's avatar

I hadn't thought of that.

I think it shows that he at least had the presence of mind to get a photo with which he can further a false narrative. I won't speculate about anything else. I don't want to encourage a conspiracy theory or attempt to add to one. There is enough chaos surrounding this already.

Neil Parpart's avatar

But he lost his lift shoes!

Denise Deitemeyer's avatar

so bizarre that he was clamoring for his shoes - SS should have said STFU.

Ellen Cantarow's avatar

He was clamoring for his shoes because he wanted to get on his feet and make a big show of his martyrdom.

Jenika's avatar

He is mainly wearing them to add 2" to his height, falsely.

Larry Huber's avatar

The shoes represent those "bone spurs" that protected him from serving in the military. Can't be without his alibis.

mataliandy's avatar

That's a combination of the shock and his abject fear of appearing small or weak. Appearance is literally everything to him. He can think of nothing else.

Ellen Cantarow's avatar

That's true. But almost nothing will now stop him from winning in 2024. We should be very, very afraid.

Michael's avatar

Most are still stating they will still vote for Biden, it might help him with his republicans

Ellen Cantarow's avatar

Thanks, Michael. I've been rethinking my position. And I am going to work like hell to get Dems elected. Have never been active in electoral politics but this is going to change now.

Jenika's avatar

I think Kamala and Walz will wipe the floor with him. I can't wait to see the debates!

Christene Cuch's avatar

No, you should not be afraid of all these fear mongering antics by gop and maga, because that's what they want.

Teresa Gau's avatar

I agree. I know others are asking as well - that is why I thought it would be good to get Mary’s take on that gesture if possible.

Rusalka's avatar

That is my opinion. To any other human being having been shoot-not seriously- would be in shock, specially him not known for his courage at all. Remember that BLM demonstration in front of the Capitol when he called the National Guard and he hid in a bunker? Yesterday he worried about his shoes, a white towel appeared to be covering his head, then one could see what looked like blood on the side of his face, bumped his fist 3 times or more and shouted “fight, fight, fight”. Then in a matter of SECONDS a photo was already on social media doing the rounds. Today as if nothing had happened he traveled to Milwaukee for the Convention. There’s something terribly odd here. Mary, please elaborate on that.

Vash's avatar

It does seem odd that after the traumatic event he was well enough to play golf and leave for Milwaukee today. Was he really injured?

It did look like blood at the top of his right ear.

Yesterday they said he was taken to the hospital after the shooting, but we didn't hear much about the nature ofthe injury. Was he released immediately from the hospital ? Normally won't they keep him under observation if the injury was so close to his head?

He raised his fist after being shot at,to show how strong he is. Some people are attracted to strongmen, so i see this as salesmanship.Iwill give him concession on the golfing. He wanted to take his mind off the traumatic event.

What bothers me the most is he is leaving for Milwaukee as if nothing has happened l

Rusalka's avatar

Just wondering when huddled down by the SS and covered with a towel he came up “bloodied” Some ketchup near by or red tint as in the movies?

A normal person having being grazed by a bullet would have to stay in hospital at least for the night. Not him!

Brenda's avatar

Do we know if he went to a hospital at all. Hmm.

Romelle Samantha Smith's avatar

Fancy that. There wasn't a piece missing. The wonders of cinema.

Christene Cuch's avatar

He just had to play along until they got enough pictures to spread around!

Romelle Samantha Smith's avatar

Not Trump. He needs the roar of the crowd to feed his ego. He's so vain...

Romelle Samantha Smith's avatar

That's entertainment for you...

Romelle Samantha Smith's avatar

Remember Trump is going to try anything to get back into the Oval Office.

Romelle Samantha Smith's avatar

Remember Trump is going to try anything to get back into the Oval Office.

Brenda's avatar

Which hospital was it?

Michael's avatar

He was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital

Vash's avatar

No idea. I don’t think they reported on that. I think Trump said in his statement that he was taken to a hospital.

Ellen Cantarow's avatar

He wasn't really injured. Just a nick. And apparently it was from glass shards not a bullet.

Vash's avatar

Later I read somewhere that it was a glass shard.

Romelle Samantha Smith's avatar

I still think he planned the whole thing.

MollyWhitebear's avatar

I agree it was planned/staged. But not by him. He isn't smart enough to do more than come up with a general idea of it. I think the details were planned out by Michael Flynn who has recently returned to the circle. Also Eric Prince and Roger Stone. Something like this has their names all over it. When Flynn was Special Ops, his specialty was just this exact sort of thing.

Vash's avatar

Wow! The length they could go to! Still not sure if it was staged and the investigation may not be able to find out if it was.

Michael's avatar

I think JD Vance planed it with trump, that's why trump made him his VP. it seems that way, because why did trump make him the VP just after getting his ear pierced.

Maurice Clive Bisby's avatar

Not to mention, VERY unlike trump who once practically dove under a desk when the Eagle he was using as a prop flapped its wings.

Shayneo's avatar

That was honestly one of the funniest moments in politics I can remember, like a clasic onion video but real. That eagle wanted *nothing* to do with him lol. Beautifully metaphorical.

MollyWhitebear's avatar

Yup, when I first saw that happen, I KNEW he was no good for sure. That eagle knew what a piece of shit he is. I trust animals' reactions to people more than anything. They've generally got a good sixth sense about humans.

Billsburg's avatar

The reaction of the crowd was so odd. I kept thinking about how ppl reacted in Dallas. It was also weird to have a head wound and then he stuck his head out over the agents. They couldn’t have protected him if there had been a second gunman.

Teri's avatar

Absolutely*shouting in all caps* Who, just having been shot, struggling too get his head and arm above SS agents?

Vanda Rounsefell's avatar

I have noticed also recently he is combining a single Nazi salute with several fist pumps. He is a master of hand signalling, seen eg as a raised right hand at chest height to accompany the hypnotic sing-song tone that draws the crowd inti the energy loop.

To me he looked enraged as he left.

Aven Kampton's avatar

And what happened to his shoes?

Jane Doe's avatar

Yes Aven, good question! Why the heck weren't his shoes on his feet?? His shoes couldn't possibly have been knocked off when he barely got knicked on the ear. Had he been standing there in his socks? Gross!

Neil Parpart's avatar

With his internal lifts they probably don't fit well

Denise Deitemeyer's avatar

I figured he jumped out of them when he peed his pants.

Neil Parpart's avatar

We KNOW he cr@pped them.

MollyWhitebear's avatar

He wears like 3" or 4" lifts in his shoes. I have some close up pictures of him sitting in a chair and you can see the heels of his feet at the top edge of the back of his laced up shoes. Kind of like he was wearing mules or something. They probably came off when he crouched down.

Christene Cuch's avatar

Maybe the fake blood pack was in his shoe? And he stuck it back inside and they told him to kick his shoes away and distract everyone by showing his head up.....hmmm?

Michael's avatar

He stated in his social post that he was knocked out of his shoes when the SS tackled him. Which that sounds odd, they did not tackle him that hard, they surrounded him then took him down.

MollyWhitebear's avatar

He actually stooped down himself behind the podium after he clapped his hand to his ear when the shooting started. They didn't tackle him. But I'm really wondering WHY they let him get back up and do his little "fight-fight-fight" routine and pump his fist. That was SO not Secret Service protocol.

Laura Jolley's avatar

Did you notice his last fist pump became a Nazi salute? Reprehensible.

Denise Deitemeyer's avatar

Shameless, appalling, pathetic and pandering - SS should have stopped him from doing it!

Michael's avatar

Especially when the police tried to get to the shooter and the shooter pointed his gun at them, he was standing up, then someone yelled gun, yet the SS still did not see him in standing in plain sight to them

Shayneo's avatar

It seems a plausible enough response, to be honest. As a mugging victim, my immediate response to all that andrenaline was white hot rage (and overwhelming fear). The trauma came about half an hour later, and I was unable to speak for a couple of hours, just kinda frozen there, though that might have been the blood loss too.

I'm gonna lay off the theories on this one. We still don't know the little picture, let alone the big picture on this one. The truth will establish itself soon enough on this extremely strange event.

Teri's avatar

Hoping you were not badly injured. Must have been terrifying. 🙏

Betty Bush's avatar

I left a comment here close! I agree.

Novalis Ricantaur's avatar

Ok, as always when you want to find the truth, follow the money. Who benefits most from this amateurish assassination attempt? DJT and anyone who has a reason to bet on him (e.g., Putin). Trump is now a folk hero, fearless in the face of mortal danger. A professional sniper would have adjusted his aim once Trump turned his head, there was plenty of time between the head turn and the four or five shots fired, esp. over the short distance of ~150 yards. The first few shots could have been a warning to Trump to remain still. The shot that scratched the ear would have been a professional master shot, not something the 20-year-old dunce could have pulled off. There maybe was a second person on the roof, the real shooter? After the deed, he immobilized the young man, left the weapon, and slithered away. Would explain DJT's fearlessness, too.

Teri's avatar

"Who benefits from his injury or death?". What I wonder a few days out. Wouldn't you have to be an expert to just hit the outside of his ear?

Michael's avatar

Just a graze of the ear would be an attempt, but would not really hurt you. trump would benefit from that.

Michael's avatar

That shooting is what he needed to put him in the running as guaranteed.

Ben Holstrom's avatar

Or showed some humility.

Jenika's avatar

He is shouting the very phrase that created the hatred that got him shot in the first place. We do not need more fighting. trump is still a dangerous virus spreading throughout our country.

Timothy Tucker's avatar

That man is Always In Shock! Sick POS!

Patricia Morrison's avatar

It appeared as if Donald impeded the safe retreat that was being attempted by Secret Service. The repeated fist bumps and reluctance to move quickly put all the Secret Service people in danger. Who is addressing that?

Patricia Jaeger's avatar

They're blaming the female Secret Service member and claiming she's a DEI hire. At least they're consistent, hateful and consistent.

Kris's avatar

WJB Motown's avatar

WJB Motown's avatar

Yay for you! I stayed at a friend's house. Across the street they had a #OrangeTurd flag. Pissed me off so much!

You may not believe in Astrology but I am encouraged by the Vedic Astrologer who predicted that Hilary couldn’t win in 2016, telling my friend last week that DT cannot win in November 2024.

Betty Bush's avatar

I'm hearing the same from other astrologers, Next Level Soul Podcast, Susan Lynn psychic medium and other guests, and Terot card readers I started watching on YouTube recently.

Mary Jane Sepmeier's avatar

Hi, would you mind sharing the names or YouTube sites of the Tarot card readers that you’re watching? I am so heartened to hear about these enlightened peoples’ positions re DJT, I strongly believe in the wisdom & insight of both Astrologers as well as people who read the cards, and would like to follow along with them. As long as that prediction doesn’t make people complacent so they think he’s gonna lose anyway, and I don’t need to work or vote.

I hope she is right. We have a tough row to hoe now with all the "sympathy" voters with which to deal.

Ginni Simpson's avatar

I don't believe that for a second. Anyone who didn't want him before isn't going to change their mind because of this. Maybe that thought is based on the increase of Reagan's popularity after he was shot, but remember, Reagan was charming, funny, and warm.

No it sure isn't coincidence.

Plus, yesterday morning, the morning of the convention start, Cannon dismissed the documents case.

Yet, he fell asleep at the convention last night as all the action there was going on. He fell asleep for a few minutes sitting up there in front of cameras. CNN even panned away from him when it became evident what was going on. LOL! Can't have people calling him Sleepy Don!

Blue Goat's avatar

I saw that over 3 million dollars had been donated for the victims. Maybe there rather than to his campaign, but based on activity here around Palm Beach, I imagine he’s hauling it in.

WJB Motown's avatar

Larry Huber's avatar

The new information is that he wasn't eligible to vote until 2021 and he registered Republican then, after Trump had already lost the first time.

Cheryl's avatar

Its was glass off teleprompter that hit his ear. If one if them high powered bullets it would've took his ear off

Vash's avatar

From the picture it looked like a glass wound. The hospital said it was the bullet. Of course I saw this on tv but I don't trust our media anymore.

One good thing that came out of this is that they are not talking aboutBiden's debate anymore. Trump's attempted assassination is a far juicier story.

MollyWhitebear's avatar

I never saw any pressers from anyone at the hospital! Where did you see that? Or was it just what tRump & Co said they told him? I've been waiting and waiting to hear something from the medical staff at the hospital like was always have before for political shootings.

mataliandy's avatar

Photos after the shooting show the teleprompters intact. It was the bullet.

MollyWhitebear's avatar

But one of the pictures I saw looked like a teleprompter had a piece of the bottom corner nicked out of it.

Larry Huber's avatar

The bullet probably injured one of the attendees, possibly the one who was killed.

Devoted's avatar

Now that makes sense!

Peter's avatar

I 've heard that bullshit as well. But whatever really happened to the Orange Menace (bullet? broken teleprompter?) it's not going to gain him a single new voter. And the response from him and his co-conspirators, which thus far has been totally unhinged, may lose him more than he can afford.

Kathy J's avatar

People are going to say these things no matter what. It is tiring. So very tiring. It seems the sky is always falling. I understand being terrified about this country's dire future if he gets in the White House again. I feel sick about it more than I wish. If the sky opened and a big booming voice said without a doubt Biden would continue in the presidency for four more years, people would start screaming and wailing and saying that meant Tfg would surely win now. I try to be patient and empathic with others because this sickening dread and fear wears us down. I am not immune to those moments when I feel on the verge of hopelessness. I slow down, take some time away from reading, listening, and watching, and allow myself to become centered again.

Denise Deitemeyer's avatar

terrifies me - and it's why I wouldn't put him past staging the event - an assassination attempt that only grazes his ear is pretty suspicious.

KathyInCali's avatar

That’s absurd. A person on Twitter wrote “Great, now he’s gonna be a martyr”. I replied that he is a self serving a-hole who’s never sacrificed anything to help somebody else. He has no redeeming qualities. I said when evil ppl are killed to don’t become martyrs.

Monique Little's avatar

My favorite story. He had placed a thick manuscript inside his coat and it may have saved his life. He gave a speech, while he was still bleeding He was taken to the hospital after his speech but they didn't remove the bullet. It stayed in his body for the rest of his life.

Barbara Carrellas's avatar

Most people who narrowly escape violent death experience an epiphany of some kind. I'm wondering how you think someone as damaged as Donald will process this. I can imagine that he'll just want to find a way to "use" it. To turn it to his advantage. Your thoughts?

Lynne Rose's avatar

He will make tshirts with his fist raised with blood on his face and make millions off of this.

Dancing Dakini's avatar

Had them ready as soon as they got the photo to print on them. #staged

Denise Deitemeyer's avatar

gotta say I really think it could have been staged - a legit assassination attempt would have done more than graze his ear.

Vash's avatar

I will give him the benefit of the doubt. The shooter missed the aim. He was Not a good shooter. Thank goodness for that.

I am not ruling out the staged theory though.

Vicki Luxford's avatar

and scummy Rethug MoC saying Joe did it...

Rosie the Riveter15108's avatar

yep. who else does he have to blame. It is Uncle Donald we are talking about.

Kris's avatar

I don’t think an epiphany - though I wondered that too - but we know, per Mary, that he is rather weak , fragile even - and he avoided real war and physical confrontation at all costs. He’s just a big talker. I think he’s going to be afraid when he wasn’t before - and ptsd will kick in

Denise Deitemeyer's avatar

I hope he loses sleep from now on - given how many of us have had more anxiety every day in the last nearly 10 years bc of him.

Denise Deitemeyer's avatar

How would we know if he had PTSD, given his already aberrant

behavior?🤭🤭

Denise Deitemeyer's avatar

of course the narcissist will use it - I simply cannot watch any of the BS from MSM and their POV that his actions were somehow admirable - it's always all about him, all the time.

Teri's avatar

He will use it after finding out that Time magazine is using it fr their cover! Which is truly is a sad way for him to make that cover! Unfortunately he will probably expect some form of $ from them for using his image! This attempt on his life was a despicable act! We can't condone any violence, on any side! Unfortunately I don't believe he can be humbled because he doesn't feel the way we may! I pray that the rhetoric calms down. Downside though, I won't hold my breath! God bless the USA & pray for the families that were affected by this awful attack!!!!

Debby's avatar

I don’t condone violence either. However, how many people would have lived if someone had taken out Hitler? How many people will avoid suffering if TFG were no longer around? They have already started a Civil War. At what point do we convict them all of Treason for conspiring to overthrow our Government and Democracy?

Teri's avatar

I realize all of that & I am only one person! Voting blue is one way I can do to help the cause. Getting the word out to vote blue is all I can do right now. We can't change history but we can't give up trying to form the future without violence! We have to be better & vote for the people that r running for positions that may benefit us & will hear us & our concerns!

Vash's avatar

I too thought of the failed attempt on Hitler's life.

There is one difference though. At that point Hitler had already killed millions of people in concetration camps, and there was a world war raging. The atrocities needed to be stopped ASAP. It made sense to remove him.

In Trump's case it is still a potential. It has happened in smaller number of deaths. Right now it is wrong to try to assassinate him.

The way to beat him is at the voting booth.

I really believe that killing is wrong, except in self defense. I believe that the attack on trump yesterday was wrong. We needto continue to vote blue and beat him at the ballot box.

Denise Deitemeyer's avatar

Seriously, Time is putting that on the cover? He brought this on himself, fomenting hate for decades. Does anyone else think the timing of his martyrdom, on the eve of convention, is just a little too on the nose?

Teri's avatar

You can find it on X under Time@time. I don't know how to paste so that is where you can find it.

Teri's avatar

What I saw yes! Unremarkable! I was ashamed thinking that it took this! Scary thought, but I'm sure he will be thrilled by whatever he sees as a positive from this now that he survived this horrid attempt on his life! I don't care for tfg at all, never have, even prior to becoming the president, but I would never wish anyone harm! I just pray something positive comes out of this, because we need piece of mind! It is too much!

Vash's avatar

He does not have the wisdom to see the positives. He is a horribly flawed human being. He cannot see beyond himself; he just wants more and more for himself. I don't see him improving in this lifetime. He still deserves to live, because he is human. So I am glad that he survived the attack. I don't expect anything positive to come from him or his party as a result. They will use it against Biden, for sure.

Evil exists for a reason, though I have not understood why. Trump is evil and yet we have to do our best to stop him, by voting against him.

Vash's avatar

I will throw away that issue of Time when it arrives. I don't even want his cover photo in my house. It will pollute my air.

Vash's avatar

He will milk it to the max toget sympathy, money, and votes.

Rosie the Riveter15108's avatar

plain and simple YEP that is Donald TFG

Vash's avatar

Impossible. He is not a normal person. He is already psychologically damaged. I don't see him have an epiphany until after his death- may be.

Barbara Carrellas's avatar

This is a frightening but important article: https://www.washingtonpost.com/style/2024/07/14/trump-photograph-shooting/. Among the many insights, the reporter says "Near-death experiences, especially if they’re violent, change people. Some are transformed, returned to life with new appreciation for its fragility, reanimated with gratitude, love and the power of forgiveness. Others turn bitter, angry and resolute. We don’t know how this will change Trump, whether he will be the same man he was Saturday, or a new one. As always, we watch him as we watch the television, movies or videos on social media. What’s next, and what now?"

Postcards to swing states-they provide the cards and names/addresses. You write the postcards and provide the stamps. This is my way of volunteering to promote a healthy Democracy. Thank you all!!

I shared on Twitter (X) about how there's a blonde girl behind and to his right side holding an anti-Biden sign. In a video posted by the Secret Service the girl is shown looking to their right side for several seconds as if anticipating something. Then she quickly drops the sign and lowers her body as if ducking. This was all BEFORE DJT was supposedly struck by a piece of glass NOT from a bullet. Several people were looking to their right BEFORE the incident. Afterwards; NO ONE panicked and scrambled away from the bleachers. Anyone with half a mind would NOT have continued to sit there like a sitting duck. My opinion: this was staged from the word GO. Think about what's wrong with this picture.

I hear you, and it is a possibility because we are dealing with some really really dark stuff here so there may be something hinky going on; these people will do literally anything to win, including violence. But as long as we’re speculating (which is one way humans dissipate shock and anxiety) 1)we will probably never know the entire truth and 2)it’s been reported there were people outside the fence shouting “there’s a shooter!” shortly before the shots happened, so possibly that got their attention at that moment. (And possibly that’s why Trump turned his head at that moment, which possibly saved his life.)

That’s of course, assuming that this was a real assassination attempt and not just an elaborate psy-op. By tomorrow, I feel like we need to be coming out of this crazy rabbithole we have no control over, and getting back to work.

We still have to keep the orange lunatic out of the White House no matter what they come at us with. Yesterday is probably just a preview of what the forces of chaos have planned for us this summer. Buckle up, buttercups!

Remember when at a campaign event Trump told Iowans to “get over it” after a January 4, 2024 deadly school shooting and that “we have to move forward”? It would be nice if this incident gave him some clarity on what everyday Americans are going through with respect to rampant gun violence…maybe he could propose some solutions?

Hah 🤣are we forgetting how he mocked Nancy Pelosi’s husband when he was hit on the head with a hammer ? He retweeted the gay date gone bad conspiracy. Mocked it all.

Now do they forget that , and martyr Trump for this ?

Vash's avatar

Always double standards.

Vash's avatar

Donald does not have the ability to learn. He will just use this incident to his own benefit. He does not care about anyone but himself.

Vash's avatar

Trump does not find solutions for Others. They do not exist for him. He finds solutions only for himself.

How can we neutralize the bloody fist pump images of Donald and his martyrdom messaging?

Tara LeBlanc 🇨🇦's avatar

For one, I'd start with not clicking on stories, posts, etc. that use the image. Also don't share it no matter how big the temptation. The algorithms are simple math and the fewer shares, the less amplification. I actually went out of my way to find a news article that didn't use any of that imagery - it was hard.

But the fist wasn’t bloody. How is that explained?

Richard La France's avatar

He wiped the ketchup off?

Dr. Christopher Vogelmann's avatar

The blood was on the palm of his hand after he reached for his ear.

Lesley Sharp's avatar

I’ve seen a lot of video and photographs. I see no trace of blood. Even when he did the seig heil salute. Do you have a reference pic?

Vash's avatar

The SS may have wiped it off.

While they were searching for his shoes and hat 🤣

I am not watching TV, or watching news that is not related to Trump. I am not reading NYT and WaPo articles about Trump. I am not on X so I don't have to worry about clicking on anything. I hope to receive my 200 postcards soon and start working on those. I have a couple of trips coming, which will certainly take my mind off the Trump story. I will not read the Time issue that shows that fist pump. I will throw it in trash can. I think getting involved with the Biden-Harris campaign will be a positive thing.

Will this move the needle on banning assault weapons?

Rosie the Riveter15108's avatar

we can hope and pray that it is so.

The shooter took it from his Dad. Wonder if the Dad knew he had it prior to him leaving for Butler?

Vash's avatar

Republicans won't go for the ban. They will blame mental health.

Do you think this event, with Donald now being BOTH a victim AND a hero, and the juxtaposition of his blood and fist with Biden looking very old and enfeebled, and I LOVE Joe Biden, will win the election for Donald? The whole STRONG vs. WEAK contrast?

Vash's avatar

Only Trump worshippers will be strengthened by that bloody fist. Not me, not those who planon voting blue.

Pam Solomon's avatar

Is there ANY chance Donald knew about the impending attack, and do you think he’ll continue having outdoor rallies?

Lupe Williams's avatar

The world should not be surprised. Trump brought violence again and again, with the most unacceptable, unpatriotic violence on January 6, 2021. THAT will never be forgotten
