We should no longer call someone scared to stand up for what’s right a “coward,” but a “Republican.” What a shame that they've let a man who doesn’t have one redeeming value take hostage of their entire party. The Trump cabal will continue to lie, cheat and steal as long as the Republican Party bends the knee. All they have to do is grow a pair!

Before Donald Trump, NO president in the modern era ever declared more than four national emergencies in a single year. In his first 100 days alone, Trump declared “emergencies” to unlock new presidential powers nine different times.

All of these republicans in Congress had better get their heads out of their asses.

Impeach the MF before he destroys Congress entirely!

In fact, I'm wearing this "Impeach the MF" tee right now 👇

The legacy media holds some of the blame. All the free airtime. Glossing over the history of lies, fraud and business failures. Ignoring his history of philandering and sexual abuse of women. Shady business associations. And worst yet ignoring the courts and his oath to "protect and defend" the Constitution. Had President Biden done any of these things the GQP would be livid and frothing. But for some reason with t they've all turned into Pinball Wizards - Deaf, Dumb and Blind.

I still do hold Biden responsible for the SCOTUS shit show.

Anyone who is old enough or who knows some of our more recent history knows Joe is responsible for Clarence Thomas. He didn't believe Anita.

It was a different time, yadda yadda yadda.

He had 4 years to push Congress to pass some serious limitations on SCOTUS and frankly on themselves as well.

i.e. Insider trading etc.

Why is it the Democrats are held to account for their behavior on the floor, yet MTG and others could be totally disrespectful to both Obama and Biden.

What happened to decorum? Their party has no respect for the office, the Capital, the Capital police, children who were school shooting victims, recently deceased military veterans returning, Veterans, elderly, disabled, our long standing alliances and on and on.

DJT complains about the place not being opulent enough because he is used to tweeting from a golden sh*tter, yet he serves McDonald's to guests instead of a banquet- because that is what he wants.

That is what the President would do in one of those movies where the adult and child switch bodies.

I don't know what the answers are but I do know what they aren't.

They aren't everything that embodies the MAGA movement.

DJT is an overgrown child who is loved by the people as tv celebrity.

In my opinion the white Christian nationalist leaders are in kahoots with Saudis (highest bidder) through Elon, Bezos and Kushner.

If you are a white Christian male congratulations. Approx 20% of America... 🤔 also very close to the number of Americans who voted for DJT.

Interesting.

Sometimes I feel like these forums are place where like minded people come for validation.

I used to love Twitter before Elon because of the dare I say... diversity.

You could have a reasonable discussion with 10 people of different backgrounds and various opinions - learn something from each other discuss and share etc.

But that all seemed to change when DJT came down the escalator and Elon bought Twitter. FOX didn't report, they showed you pictures of scary things and asked you how you felt.

For instance crime was NOT up. But they showed scary pictures and then would ask, "Do you feel safer under Biden?"

People bought it and minds closed.

How does the Democratic party do the same?

What do we need to show on billboards across central PA

On local TV during college football ?

Just pictures of Trump or his administration in action.. . And one question

Is this what you voted for?

I am holding him responsible for NOT making Congress hold them to a realistic morality clause and gift receipt rules when we had the chance.

Like I said on the Clarence Thomas vs Anita, it was a different time for white men.

Same sh*t different day for everyone else.

Now thanks to corporations being people, people having no morals clauses, million dollar rv busses are not even something on the radar. While the democrats are reporting water bottles.

I hold him responsible for not taking advantage of his moment to close these very very important gaps that are biting us in the ass.

I believe the phrase is... "The buck stops here."

It's not personal. I think very highly of President Biden.

This is just an opportunity that I believe we could have done better.

The exhibition of greed and/or obsequious tendencies are not a sign of "insanity."

Mass acceptance of greed, intentional obfuscation, consistent patterns of disingenuous testimony, and unrepentantly obsequious elected officials who remain in office for decades, would tend to indicate, as Pogo said: "We have met the enemy and he is us." That realization is a far closer approximation to a diagnosis of (mass) insanity, than the actions of a handful of cultists engaged in religiously-inspired political coup... in my humble opinion.

Mary, Thank you for your continued courage in naming what so many are afraid to say. I agree with you that your uncle is likely haunted by the specter of your grandfather’s Alzheimer’s while he is already in the midst of his own form of cognitive collapse. What we’re witnessing isn’t just a psychological profile rooted in malignant narcissism or sociopathy—it’s the unraveling of a brain that has become rigid, simplistic, and incapable of flexibility or insight.

Every response he gives, whether to critique, investigation, or simple reality is either a lie posing as an attack or a lie posing as a defense. There is no spontaneity, no nuance, no growth. It’s like watching a broken mechanism that can only toggle between two primitive settings: grandiosity and grievance. He doesn’t create anything new because he can’t. His thinking has become a closed loop of self-justification and paranoia. When he’s untethered from the script, he descends into incoherent ramblings, offering glimpses of how deeply compromised his mind has become.

And yet, perhaps most disturbing of all, is the complicity of those around him. From media figures to billionaires to MAGA operatives, there’s this collective delusion that proximity to his power will somehow shield them from the devastation he’s unleashing. But aligning with a man this cognitively and morally bankrupt isn’t a survival strategy. It’s slow-motion self-destruction.

With all my years of experience, I believe he is a sociopath along with numerous other pathologies, and not even a cunning one. He leaks insecurity at every turn. But beneath the constant ego stroking and bombast is someone devoid of conscience, empathy, or even authentic emotion. What we are left with is a deeply damaged man propped up by a system of enablers more afraid of losing influence than of losing democracy.

It’s obvious to me that a lot of citizens of the United States have lost the ability to self rule. A large part of the U.S. population has lost the skills necessary to engage in critical thinking. One of the most important elements needed to engage in critical thinking, is reading comprehension. Today 54% of the U.S. is reading at only the 6th grade level. Another 20% are reading at only the 3rd grade level. This means 74% of the U.S. population lacks any real reading comprehension. It should come as no surprise looking at the above statistic, that critical thinking is not something many U.S. citizens do anymore. Bottom line: the democratic republic of the United States, may not exist much longer. We are ripe for an authoritarian take over.

There have been recent instances in which Biden can be seen to think very fast, for example his appearance at a Stellantis plant in Belvedere, Illinois. There's a loud sound, something fell. Biden reacts immediately, with a focused look and "You OK?" Next instant, "I want the press to know ir wasn't me!". Then he turns and does an exaggerated old guy shuffle away from and back to the podium, with a grin, to laughter and applause. His take as he comes across MTG in full MAGA regalia entering for his last SOTU is similarily quick and pitch perfect.

I also recall Marcon, at the last NATO summit, being asked by a reporter to contribute to the "Biden failing" narrative. "I don't understand your question" he said.

More than a little of this is a Swiftboat play by Trump, Fox, et al.

Why elite journalists and the likes of the NYT decided to support it is a good question. And people's reactions were instinctive and umconscious, unexamined. Biden didn't read as the Warrior King fit to slay The Great Orange Ogre, and that's what people wanted deep in their minds. There's good reason we lived under Kings for so long.

But Biden was president of a republic, the best in many decades.

And a primary would have been a divisive mess. Ask Stuart Stevens and Joe Trippi.

Hi Mary. Thank you again for all that you do. Such a sad, sad family story, and yes, Trump appears to be in cognitive decline. But I just can’t let Joe Biden off the hook. He promised to be a transitional president. Recent revelations re: George Clooney and others, showed that his decline was likely covered up. He didn’t resign. He gave Harris precious little time to get up to speed. I have a hard time forgiving that. He and his protectors threw us, and the world, under the bus. I am so disappointed in him and those who hid the truth. RBG did the same. Such selfishness.

So you choose to ignore the racism and misogyny that had people choose a demented megalomaniac over a bright capable black woman to hold the highest office in the land. I am not buying the idea everything was caused by former President Biden.

There is more than one cause for Trump’s victory. It’s crazy to ignore either Biden’s inaction or the racism and misogyny in this country.

Biden was a transitional president who changed his mind. That was a terrible mistake, and a great loss for the rest of us. But it shouldn't be forgotten that Biden oversaw the recovery of the country from COVID, including the US becoming the first country to recover economically, job increases, infrastructure programs created to fund projects over 6 years, and the most meaningful climate legislation in American history. All of that in the toilet now.

I can't stand having to agree with this (I'm such a partisan DEM) but you're right.

Indeed, it is quite distressing to realize that the self centered can result in massive damage to an entire country.

Therein lies the dichotomy.

We are NOT accepting what he is doing and the destruction of what used to be our democracy. But our system is failing us. There are no longer checks and balances at the highest levels to stop him and his fascist regime. Or so it seems.

No checks and balances to stop him. Someone set that up very, very well.
