My dream is that as soon as Herr Drumph is announced, the entire press corps will rise, turn their backs and leave the room. Do not give an audience to this sociopath, pedophile and murderer. Let the post-Trump era begin tonight.

THAT WOULD BE WONDERFUL, SeniorSue!!

THAT would keep us ALL going!!

Too late for snubbing him, he never should have been invited, they screwed up.

Grace Lawrence's avatar

YES. AND. A total in sync walk - out would be the BEST result !!!!! Who knows? Maybe that is the Plan. WouldN’t THAT be something to see ?

I would also love to see a large group of journalists stand up and turn their backs on Trump in protest. Of course they will be booed and dragged out by the cult members who will attend.

I used to love to watch the annual WHCD because it was always a joyous occasion, filled with camaraderie, laughter, self-insulting humor and fun. But all of that instantly disappeared with Barrack Obama’s epic roasting/takedown of DJT in 2011, - which was absolutely hilarious and brilliant - obviously infuriated Trump, who’s ego is so fragile, so thin-skinned, so afraid of being laughed at, belittled and ridiculed in public - one could see the anger swell up in him like a gigantic plume of dark smoke. It looked like his rotten brain was going to explode!

So I will not boost ratings by watching the event live, because I already know the event will be an over-blown, bowing-down, ass-licking focused on honoring djt instead of a tribute to journalism and the first amendment that guarantees free speech.

I’m sure what’s left of our honest press corps will share any protesting with us tomorrow.

...and moon him before they leave the room. Be grossly disrespectful on the way out. He does not treat others with respect and does not deserve to be treated with grace and respect back. Let the people laugh at him as it happens. Respect is earned, not expected nor can it be bought.

That would be awesome!

Not only that, his name should be REDACTED wherever it appears, just like it is in the Epstein files. On buildings, (black plastic and duck tape should work) in news reports, magazine articles, on TV (redact his face since he thinks he’s such a victim), every photo, every social media repost. Refer to him as Prez. Redacted. He made that bed, let him lie in it.

Wouldn’t that be heaven!

Deborah Cox's avatar

I agree totally I wish they would

Sorry, the damage is already done. The members of the White House press corps who have any integrity won't be there anyway.

Betty's avatar

It’s as ugly as him!

Suede67's avatar

Indeed. And with how truly vile he is that is not an easy feat.

Ken Eatherly's avatar

To recycle a line from one of his favorite campaign anecdotes: “You knew I was a snake when you invited me in.”

Chloe Ross's avatar

He said it wrong. Should have been "slithered in"...

Ken Eatherly's avatar

Vampires also need to be invited: They can’t come in on their own.

Kathy Hughes's avatar

He was speaking of himself!

Ken Eatherly's avatar

I think he often does. It’s called projection.

I vacillate between wanting trump permanently gone and wanting him to hang around long enough to take down EVERY SINGLE ONE of his regime and followers with him.

Because trump IS GOING DOWN more and more EVERY SINGLE DAY!

Because what DECADES of HISTORY have shown us ALL...

trump has NO LOYALTY to ANYONE ELSE EVER...

and EVERYTHING trump TOUCHES DIES!!

and Karma is a bitch - may I live long enough to see Felon47, his family and his enablers ALL held ACCOUNTABLE for at least a good chunk of the evil they have wrought.

The WHCA took down the pants. That's my comment on this miserable move to invite Donald Trump to their dinner party. The man who despise free press and free expression invited as Honoree speaker at that event! How low can someone sink to appease that bag of garbage?

Sandi Bohle's avatar

Amen, Mary! The WHCA has betrayed its fellow journalists. The clown will, of course, believe it's all about him. Maybe he'll attack someone in the room and once again embarrass himself.

Janet Bergamo's avatar

How can we rid ourselves of this malignant narcissist? With each passing day Trump becomes more dangerous to humanity. Congress rolls over and plays dead (while enjoying their paycheck, funded by our tax dollars), the majority of Supreme Court nods and smiles and takes fancy vacations, funded by — yes, our tax dollars. And the war is ignored by the people in power. Oh, forgot to mention Trump’s fronto temporal dementia

Lynn Armstrong's avatar

But this time with some kind of insurance that it absolutely can’t fail!

Carl F's avatar

I agree, Mary, with everything you wrote. I majored and received my degree in journalism during Watergate. I, like most others I knew, was appalled at Nixon's treachery and his hostility toward the press. After he resigned, I never imagined that there would be an equally hostile president toward journalists again. Donald has far surpassed Nixon's level of animosity. Donald will of course use his speech to further belittle and insult the WHCA members, and the WHCA will have only itself to blame for allowing him to be there. As soon as that starts, every journalist with any amount of self respect should immediately stand up and leave. I know I would.

Kathy Roeske's avatar

I would attend just so I could walk out on him.

Chloe Ross's avatar

Mary would know from the jump just what he is capable of doing. I trust her above all the others....

Mary Trump, Thank YOU!!!

It shows signs of a left brain struggle from the right brain… a constant swinging from one disposition to another and acting like it’s a winning strategy and a normal M. O.

I am scared and so are the American people it’s getting so hard to understand his actions and his behavior or intentions with all his grandiose scale of policy’s and platforms he is having a hay day in his sandbox of the American system.

Jessica Rath's avatar

I bet he'll fall asleep, but that doesn't let the spineless WHCA off the hook. Why didn't any press person organize an alternative Correspondents' Dinner? And invite Barak as speaker? 😉

Nancy M's avatar

I hope he falls asleep!

Deidre Lisenby's avatar

Uuuuuwwww.... that would be perfect !

Kim Hamblin's avatar

Doesn’t the WHCA ALWAYS invite the sitting President?? He acts like it’s never happened before…🤦‍♀️

Laura A. Drury's avatar

At least Frank Figliuzzi (former Assistant Director for counterintelligence at the FBI) won the lawsuit that Kash Patel had filed against him…the case was dismissed! At the WHCA Dinner, they should serve the same rationed food that our Troops are being fed in Iran! I heard that video clips of Donald and Epstein are going to be projected on the building outside—😂! The entire administration is a disgrace!!

Douglas Paul Truhlar's avatar

Mary I hope you were invited I haven’t seen anything about it but you should be there!

Chloe Ross's avatar

Thank you so much! I lived in NYC during the Marla Maples. days. He has only gotten worse.

Iain's avatar

well said Mary! The WHCA should be ashamed of this craven, spineless abandonment of their stated mission and convictions.
