I was so surprised to recently learn that is not so. I had Civics in 8th grade and loved it. Summer after 9th grade, we had Girls’ State and Boys’State where 5 girls and 5 boys (held on separate weeks) got to go to a university near the state capital and enact state government. I went and it was fun and exciting. Then we took US History and US Government in high school. These were required classes because educating public school students about how the government works was considered essential.
We have gaps big enough to let a would - be despot & dictator through. The way things are, I could probably start a GoFundME to raise funds so I could run for Senate, as I had enough money, I could probably make it official. NOBODY would be desperate enough to vote me into a serious position otherwise. OR, I could appeal to a big voting block like Evangelicals.....
