Thank you Mary for the transcript from the conversation you had from Lucid. She truly understands authoritarianism all the way. She is one of the best people.
“This all seems alarmingly familiar. It is ironic, because Donald is the most apocalyptically tragic loser I have ever met in my life. On some very deep, dark levels, he knows it, which is why lobbing those accusations at others is how I think he immunizes himself against that terrible knowledge.”
There wasn't a war, He just stole it? He's a F*CKING thief, but the funniest part was congress trying to find out who stole half of the oil they stole. ? Bloody hell. you just cant trust thieves,
Certainly no discussion about returning the oil to its rightful owners,? NAH! WHAT?
I think the rotting has already started in his frontotemporal lobe. The decision part of the brain; controls impulse. The “gut”.
Hegseth was the only one who said yes in cabinet to the attack—a man under the spell of white Christian nationalism rooted in the idea of the crusades, a would-be tough guy known as Colonel Vodka during his time at Fox.
And Trump trusted his “gut” that snipping three links off a hundred link chain of succession was going to what? Cause the people to rise up against the heavily armed and fanatical Revolutionary Guard? With no weapons. In a deeply-embedded theocracy.
Two weeks is now eight months. The greatest fallacy is the expectation of a short decisive war against a state that’s been ready for its ur-bully to come at them and willing to harm the infrastructure of US allies as part of that.
Because Donald attacked the other side during peace talks and murdered 120 school children.
As I said during the discussion, what concerns me most is the dangerous window between the coming blue wave and January, when we may finally have an opportunity to reclaim some power. I hope desperately for a peaceful transition, but I believe we must be prepared for the possibility that it won’t be.
He has a history of operating indirectly, through chaos, distraction, and calculated provocations. We cannot afford to be caught off guard. The coming months demand vigilance, preparation, and a clear-eyed understanding that the risks may extend well beyond our own borders.
Hope for the best. Prepare for the worst. And the rest of the world needs to be paying attention.
In less than 2 years the megalomaniac at the top of our government has managed to destroy so much of the “American Dream” with the help of the Supreme Court. It will take decades to undo their damage but only with the determination and commitment of the younger generations than I am in. We did it once before. They have to do it again.
This conversation enlightens the populace as to what has been happening to remove democracy from our country and those who were the players. I’m a believer in the power of the people and their ability to see through the mind control of media like FOX NonNews and vote to take back what so many willingly gave to an evil, greedy man and his merry producers. What happens after is paramount to prevent a person like him and those from ever doing this again. Nixon should have been prosecuted in my day and these people must be held accountable just as changes need to be made to our Constitution to prevent issues they used. Our founders could never foresee the scoundrels that would take down what they were all so willing to give all for.
You have a clear grasp of the entire situation. Corruption operates through well-structured, transnational networks.
The way it weakens institutions causes damage that completely erodes systems of governance and justice; it degrades societal standards and political parties, dragging an entire nation into an endless downward spiral.
It is essential to implement strategies that contain existing corruption, prevent future abuses of power, and establish accountability mechanisms—as well as checks and balances—to counter the concentration of power.
The selection of Supreme Court justices and the Attorney General can no longer depend on the decision of a single individual. It is necessary, first, to establish minimum standards, and second, to create formal processes for selection and the vetting of potential conflicts of interest.
Oh, and Mary, you didn’t mention the case of the pardon for the drug trafficker Juan Orlando Hernández—the former president of Honduras and a personal friend of Trump—who turned Honduras into a "narco-state" and subjected my people to a bloodbath.
We don’t want people from “shit hole” countries (quoting Dump) but we’ll take in all the corrupt dictators. Our tax dollars paid to fly Bolsanaro to the US. Wonderful.
There are a lot of great information and ideas to take away for law makers in this discussion.
I thought it instructional for a future Congress to look carefully at the constitution in Italy. They revised after living in an authoritarian space for many years. As Ruth mentions, because of that they have more checks and balances.
I also appreciated the reference to the amount of time that we currently have between Election Day and the new representatives to be seated. Sounds like it should be shortened since it allows for extra time to screw with things on the way out and it also creates a gap where engagement fades.
The biggest thing that got my attention was the idea that all elected law makers make themselves visible in person in their representative areas at all times. Make sure the people know you’re working for them.
She also suggested that law makers do regular streaming of what they are planning to do pertaining to what issues they campaigned on. She used the example of affordability…”and here is what I’m planning to propose”.
My only caution would be to stay away from phrases and buzz words. Keep talking in your own voices to describe to real people what you are doing and own up to the struggles you are likely to face. The barriers you may have to combat like a presidential veto.
I don’t mean putting forth what’s wrong with Trump…everyone has had enough of that for a lifetime. Just focus on what you are doing as our representative.
What she didn’t say and what I’d like to see is the media stop airing the constant BS that this Administration dishes out. Start reporting on the administration without video clips or even sound clips. Just report the actions of the administration and the pros and cons as to how it will affect the people. Media needs to make We The People their audience and report to us. We can make up our own minds. Dig into issues beyond the hot clip of the day. DJT does outrageous shit multiple times a day. List it off and move on to more important stuff!!! I beg you! Starve this Administration of constant coverage you currently give to any BS he says or does to distract.
I’ll give examples from this week… two unnecessary items swallowed all news programs…
Alaska and the Dan Sullivan show…why keep repeating as if factual before the Alaska Governor, State Supreme Court and Alaska election Commission have a chance to investigate? The NY Times is a good source generally speaking but they’re not infallible, let the people responsible investigate it before trying to convince Americans!
The Cheesecake Factory was another. Precious news time devoted to this distraction just like Trump wanted. The entire point of the comment missed and therefore mis-reported. DJT doesn’t need to pay for propaganda when news programs willingly do it for him. I had to turn CNN off twice due to this. When the highest rated hosts (Collins and Trapper) beat stupid shit like this to death…well they are working for the Administration and certainly not willing to present “just the facts” to We The People!
Thanks if you read this partial rant! The discussion brought up a lot of thought 🤓
Corruption is indeed at the center of this administration, and neutral sources have compiled a sample list with specific instances of it:
The “presumption of regularity” is a judicially created doctrine with a long and contested history. The doctrine affords the executive branch a distinctive advantage not enjoyed by private litigants. It generally instructs courts to presume, unless there is clear evidence to the contrary, that executive officials have “properly discharged their official duties” and that government agencies have acted with procedural regularity and with bona fide, non-pretextual reasons. In practice, the presumption can preclude discovery, limit review of the facts, and truncate cases. It can constrict (or even end) civil suits challenging government action, curb criminal defendants’ ability to claim vindictive or selective prosecution, and more.
In this study, we document three categories of executive branch conduct since Jan. 20, 2025 that, in Judge Friedman’s words, showed to courts “instance after instance of departures from this tradition” of public officials acting “in obedience to [their] duty.”

The theft of Venezuelan oil is a war crime.

That is an epic burn. Thank-you, Mary L Trump.

He is 100% projection about everything. Every single thing he accuses others of being or doing applies to HIM.
May he rot.
You are spot on. Projecting.

Thank you, like always, for your honesty and courage. I have hope in the young people making a difference. I have hope. I have hope.

I’m listening to Ruth’s book “Strongmen: From Mussolini to the Present” this week. It’s sobering & unflinching…

There need to be consequences for people--period. This is essential to prevent this from happening again.
Thanks to both of you. The Democrats have to go up front and talk to people. We also need to do a better job if teaching our children about democracy.

Really good points about wasting media energy (and our time and brains) on BS. Yes, just tell us what the "president" has done.
That Italy has more guardrails than the U.S. is sobering and troubling.
