“Welcome to The Art of the Scam, where we follow the gobsmacking corruption and grift being perpetuated by Donald, his family, and the people in his inner circle.”

…….

“But Donald has repeatedly described MAGA Inc., which can accept those unlimited contributions, as an organization whose spending he personally directs.”

Sounds like “ART OF THE STEAL” to me!

But then again… scam, grift, con, racket, swindle, hustle, steal. Essentially it’s all the same thing - the lawless, convicted felon/sexual predator, aka the king of scam’s lifelong MO.

And the dark money that’s been pouring in after Citizens United - particularly from the oligarchs who currently “own” DJT’s MAGA, Inc. AND SCOTUS - have caste massive DARKNESS and obscurity over the constitution and the rule of law, essentially rendering both meaningless.

Sounds like organized crime to me.

So adding four or six justices to the SCOTUS would provide the tools to overturn all the anti-Constitutional decisions.

James Rankin's avatar

Or removing several of the justices for ethics violations, breach of oath of office, & other anti-constitutional acts. But neither will work as long as Trump or Republicans are in control, so replacing or adding justices will have to take place when Democrats are in charge.

This is another time where I wish I could DoubleLIKE a comment. Sorta like Double Cream Oreos.

Not just in charge, everything takes a ridiculous majority.

There really must be impeachments for at least three of the current Supreme Court justices: Thoma and Alison, and Chief Justice Roberts, all for lying under oath, accepting bribes, malfeasance, and violations of their oaths of office.

Obviously, both Coney-Barrett and Kavanaugh can and probably ought to be at the very least censured for lying under oath, but so far their transgressions have not been nearly as egregious as those of their brethren Republicans.

It's time we stopped settling for anything less than sterling truthfulness from anyone even thinking about occupying a seat on any court in the land. Penalties for dishonest judges and police officers should be correspondingly more serious for the violations of public trust.

There are no worse people than those who would take unfair advantage of public office. These are the people who throw civilizations into turmoil and difficulty. There can be no greater betrayal, save that of a corrupt president.

James Rankin's avatar

Although there could be a case for the impeachment of all 3 Trump appointees for being appointed by an illegitimate, fraudulently elected president, as many election experts have come to conclude about the 2016 election.

And the Democrats each said, I resemble that remark. 🌊

Or perhaps a faster & easier way might be to reduce** the justices from 9 down to 5?

Keep the 3 liberal ones and allow the 2 less nasty ones...

Then once some amount of cleaning and fixin' are done, then boost up to 13 or even 15!

No matter how a court correction gets done, it is needed to safeguard any liberal laws by a new Congress, otherwise the effort may become moot.

**impeachment??

James Rankin's avatar

Ah yes, that is the way to do it once Democrats are in charge.

Ruth Sheets's avatar

Probably not, but it will give the quality justices on the court an opportunity to get the process started!

To democratic leadership;

Yes, we all expect you to look forward with hope. But we also expect that you will look backwards in anger as well. Look back at the past decade and see clearly how important it is to hold all of the miscreants and criminals populating the current maladministration accountable for their criminal behavior and scurrilous activities. It doesn't matter who they are or what their party affiliation might be.

The people of this can-still-be-great nation need to see the law at work. Period. No matter who you are, what color you are, how much money and influence you have, the law is the law and needs to work the same way for all of us.

These people have done wrong, committed murder, all manner of evil in the name of freedom. How bitterly ironic. So, what happens next? Folks like us have done our part. We participated in the process and cast our votes.

And...

James Rankin's avatar

Many, including Trump. have committed outright treason & are essentially traitors.

Adam's avatar

Agreed! They can't be allowed to just ride off into the sunset with everything they've stolen still intact. They've got to answer for their criminal behavior. Every last fucking one of em!

Thank you John Roberts and Citizens United. Rat bastard.

Citizens United?? Don't forget the the despicable Moscow Mitch!

Overturning Citizen's United would go a long way toward letting daylight into our elections and policy decisions. While we're at it, expand SCOTUS, define its scope, institute a code of ethics and a mechanism for enforcement!

Citizens United and gerrymandering are the two demons which absolutely must be defeated in order for us to have legal, fair, representative elections.

Whenever we elect a representative in a flawed, purposefully warped system wherein many are purged from voter rolls illegitimately, or otherwise prevented from casting a regular ballot, trust for the rule of law suffers incomparable damage. This is what Donald Trump has undertaken and enjoyed tremendous success in so doing. Many wonder if this was at the behest of Vladimir Putin, and it makes very good sense that this could be the rationale and motivation behind such moves.

Outrageously, Congress failed to protect its own power as a check/balance against the Executive branch of government, and now the government does not work as designed by the founders. Elections, which are very plainly the sole purview of the states, are now being threatened by the Executive branch under Donald Trump, and up is down.

If we fail to prosecute this grand scale attempt at election interference and illegal interference in the operations of state governments, out elections won't ever be legitimate, nor will our governments.

I've been saying for a very long time that the DARK MONEY needed to be taken out of politics. Because all it does is bribe people with their decisions to vote. Not unlike the man in the big house offering "thousands of dollars" to people to put republicans back in Congress. Why can't he just be a Lame Duck like so many other leaders for so many years. Hasn't he made enough money to sink a battleship? I think he has.

Stephen Burnett's avatar

The brains of people like Trump cannot contain any concept of "enough". They think that's how losers talk.

It's explained very clearly here ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ITs-YX1yQ7o

He just said that he’s cutting off four billion dollars of financial support for Israel. Hey, redirect it to Ukraine, Putin is slaughtering civilians there, and has been for years.

Great title for this one. It is all dark and needs to be brought into the light. Every single penny donated by any person must be identified as to who specifically gave it with the name etc. Then there must be financial limits for each person donating. If a corporation donates, it must be open to the world to know who it is from and what it is for. No foreign money should ever be permitted. These are not difficult changes, but they are clearly essential for Democrats and any decent Republicans to fix.
