Donald is the "crazy aunt in the basement" that got turned loose on the country. If the capacity is in the country to vote this person into the White House, then America is having a difficult lesson to learn. So be it and may the wisdom of the learning experience prevail. He is the very opposite of what America represents.
With regard to “structural solutions” allow me to suggest that we identify and inventory every constitutional and statutory loophole that this shithead has exploited and target it for obliteration. A recipe for reform, which, unfortunately, has lots and lots of ingredients.
Excellent conversation. What totally cracked me up was David's response to Mary's "My grandmother’s oldest sister smoked and drank throughout her life and lived to ninety eight." Said David: "That is the worst thing anyone has ever said on this podcast."
I do so love Mary's insights, laser-sharp wit and delivery. From my view, we could have avoided this whole mess and every other mess Unca Donald stirred up in his life by 1) subjecting him to a battery of tests when he was three or four to determine innate behavioral traits; 2) putting him in the care of parents who knew how to give love and show it, and not under the tutelage of an abusive father who only knew how to expend money, not love, and lived by the rule of life that the only things that mattered were money and winning, hang the consequences to others; 3) introducing therapeutic medications as necessary; 4) having him interact with other kids of his age and disposition that would make him feel accepted and recognized. His problem is that he was never allowed to develop within accepted social norms, always having things handed to him and growing older to expect it.

"He recently suggested leaving the UFC octagon at the White House because they left the Eiffel Tower standing. Then he proudly announced that someone had prepared a chart showing the reflecting pool is longer than many buildings are tall." Oh, yes, that octagon should stay there but let's get it painted gold. The length of the reflecting wading pool in comparison to buildings' heights is something to be proud of? I see phallic obsession or even phallic fixation.
Honestly, I think progressive Democrats and independents need to work together and stop letting PAC-backed centrists set the agenda. Maybe then we could come up with a real plan to clean up this dumpster fire. I’m not holding my breath—we seem pretty broken right now, but a girl can dream. 🤩
It would be great if you were able to use your considerable talents and resources to figure out how to break the communication and prejudices barriers (like news and influencers). The Trump worshippers need to start hearing and seeing the same things we are.
