Agree. It is obvious the Supreme Court is no longer "for the people". There are at least 3 of them who vote consistently with trump. I have questioned how any of their rulings can be considered fair and just when there are six republicans and three Democrats. There should be term limits for everyone, no one should have a lifetime appointment to any office.
I watched this live first. It was an animated thoughtful conversation with 2 of my favorite Substack essayists(?). Mary is right: if we don’t fix the Supreme Court nothing else will matter.
Thom Hartmann has a great post/podcast describing how Trump is doing something Caesar did: emblazoning his image on currency, passports and other documents. They are his way of warning, “Watch out! I’m the boss!” And his toadies keeping his portrait (their Mona Lisa) in Government offices only reinforces the fear he is trying to project.
Oh, and have you noticed that in all of those images he is glowering or scowling. I don’t expect leaders to have smiley faces, but most (e.g., Lincoln) look like they are serious about keeping the nation and its people at the forefront.
