It is distressing and sad that our country’s 250th anniversary is being celebrated while a narcissistic petulant Fascist child and his idiot cronies are controlling our government. It’s deplorable.
As DJT deteriorates he becomes more dangerous to the country and the world It is INCUMBENT on Congress to act to protect our nation and use every Constitutional tool to protect the American people.
One time I came across a black bear feasting on a goat while another goat was panicking in the enclosure. I approached the rail fencing of the enclosure hoping to free the remaining goat. The bear charged me several times in hopes of scaring me off. I never moved and it just turned and ignored me.
Today I realized how similar this experience to Trumps behavior. Trump Always Chickens Out Stupid !
Congress? Do something? Except for Jamie Raskin, they fear the wrath of Trump’s evil cabal. As you said, Mary, he becomes more dangerous as he weakens physically and mentally. His sycophants and his trillionaire tribe still find him “useful.” The “Access Hollywood” video showed us the misogyny, the arrogance, the megalomania. His half-dead digits are still on the nuclear codes. Nothing is beyond this murderous monster.
I could see him leaving without it being an admission of failure - if he waited until February, he’d screw Vance out of a potential 10 years (dreadful thought). He could see walking away as somehow punishing the nation for not appreciating him. At least, I have my hopes. His pattern is to get into something over his head, lie until the lies start to be obvious, abuse the appeals process to avoid having to pay anything to anybody, and then walking away leaving everybody else holding the mess. He could do it.

My first thought is of how Trump has managed, in 18 months to demote America down from a position of leadership and example in the world to an image of being an irrational selfish and spoiled country not to mention a laughing stock example of how one idiot, with help from the Republican Party can destroy a nation.
In just a few months Trump has started and lost an unnecessary war, while abandoning a critical war in Ukraine. Ukraine has not only learned to survive without the U.S. but has bypassed its outdated military system with weapons for the new age and 4 years later is doing better and better.
We need a leadership that doesn’t depend on Depends to stay above water!
I am thinking of taking a train to Montréal at the beginning of next month. I, as a trans person, fear that July 4 will be a MAGA spectacle that will spark violence against “undesirables” like me. In other words, I worry that this country’s 250th birthday celebration could be its Kristallnacht.
