Let’s get VERY SERIOUS HERE. These extra judicial behaviors like arresting his enemies or like Jerome Powell almost was, who is simply doing his job in a way that best serves the people not just Trump’s short term wishes.
Unpunished behaviors like these can only lead to ever increasing delusions of unchallenged power and a very real danger to this country’s future.
Before it gets to be too late we need to get serious about showing our leaders that this is not acceptable.

As Cory Booker said on Meet the Press Sunday. All three branches of the government are corrupt and need massive reforms. This is a bipartisan issue!!. It’s been going on for so long we don’t even think about it anymore.

When things get bad I sometimes imagine a world in which Hitler grew up happy and feeling loved. In which he had friends and could laugh.
Or where Trump grew up without any pressure by adults. Following his own voice. Perhaps having become a teacher, his experiencing validation from simplifying things in a way that built others up rather than what he, I think, learned in his childhood from his father and other adults, to weaponize this simplifying to beat others down.
That is not the world that happened. Revisionism is not the intent. But there is no harm in imagining a world in which people are not their crimes. A world where people are not defined by having to experience the horrors of the past in order to be (adult) “participants” in/”members” of society. Forever (mentally) chained to a past of shame. As a form of democratic duty.
Justice means that victims cannot escape the the chains of what happened. So imagination should not be conflated with denying of that reality.
Hence I imagine something that is obviously and admittedly not real. But that doesn’t mean it is impossible for even the most abusive people to have grown up different lives. Not to say that “they are merely the products of their environment”, though I think that is always a factor. Choices are a factor in all forms of abuse, as abuse is trading throwing someone else under the bus, which is not isolated-internal but extends to another person via a period of repeated choices beyond accident.
But imagining a world that was more forgiving, giving people better chances for correction, less big hurdles to overcome. Less peer pressure. Better mental health. Healthier support with boundaries.
