I’m going to take exception to the knock on the casket. Because djt, it may just be weird.
I’ve been asked to sing graveside, and have always worn the initial ring my father gave me for my 20th birthday. I’m rarely able to speak after singing. I use my ring to say “next time” one knock for each word. And damn! Dad’s casket in December was metal- and nobody missed the knock knock. (First metal casket I’ve sung over)
Not unlike the Seals driving a trident into fellow SEALS caskets. Some are personal or institutional. And my agnostic/athiest self doesn’t care who likes it or not. I will stand at the head of a casket to sing and will not change anything I’ve done for over a decade.

Maybe it’s just me but I’m still frustrated and losing hope, not that things will never get better but Im tired of complaining and being angry and frustrated.
I realize that venting helps. Temporarily. But there it is again tomorrow.
I know (and I’m sure you do too) that one thing that helps is to get off my butt and get involved in doing something. As far as our political situation is concerned it seems overwhelming, what difference can I make? I’m just one person.
WRONG! There’s a lot of us! Even republicans if they’d admit it. Is anyone else interested in exploring what we CAN do? Leave the Debbie downer whirlpool of helplessness and start thinking of what we can do?
We can brainstorm ideas, form interest groups, develop plans, implement plans and become activists.

I wondered the same thing when I saw it happen, but found it to be more "interesting" behavior than "deeply weird" behavior, as Mary said.
The best I could come up with was that Donald knocked on the coffin, while thinking, "I'm going to miss you, good golfing buddy." Again, that's my 'best' interpretation. But nobody knows why, not even Donald, and if he did know, he would most likely lie about it anyway.
I have heard that Lindsey Graham was a “closet queen.” If that’s true (I believe it’s possible, if not likely), that could be at least a partial explanation of why he became a Trump sycophant. For one, he may have been subliminally attracted. (Henry Kissinger was a monster, but he made a trenchant observation: “Power is the ultimate aphrodisiac.”) For another, someone who is in the closet cannot have love—or at least the kind they truly want—in their lives. So they try to fill that void. Some do it with drugs, alcohol or other substances or self-destructive behavior. (I know; I did before I came out as a trans woman.) Others do it, as Lindsey did, by engaging in “cover” behaviors, like a sham marriage or pursuit of something that will “prove” their (false) heterosexual/cisgender identity. (I used sports in that way; Lindsey became a “hawk.”) Still others—again, like Lindsey, seek the approval as if it could substitute for the love they cannot experience.
As much as I abhor what he did, especially during the last 10-12 years of his life, I still see Lindsey as a tragedy: something Donald can’t understand because he sees Lindsey as just another piece taken off the board.
Let us be thankful for the Indiana Republicans for REFUSING to gerry-mander at Trumps demand. If the tide truly is turning, that had to be the start. I don’t like Republican policy, but that act took courage when T controlled 100%. Now that he is scattered, and self-centered people have finally started to wonder about his decisions, dissent is less whispered. A million Cheers for Mary for having the guts to write and get published “Never Enough… Dangerous Man.” My friends who never took psychology (but more chemistry than me) finally understood the narcissism and sociopathy that makes him predictable. Of course, the evil creators of all the chaotic schemes need to be charged in a Neremberg trial.
I can’t wait until he’s gone, either through the end of his term or death.
