I agree. He’s trying to desensitize, minimize, downplay the whole Epstein situation. Thank you for your very astute writing.🙏 You are an inspiration.

I don’t think depravity has been normalized I think it’s just something we allow. What has been normalized is plunder by the government and the corporations.

The people who supported Trump were born depraved and beyond redemption.

Susanna J. Sturgis's avatar

So an estimated one-third of the U.S. adult population -- those who according to various polls *still* support Trump -- was "born depraved and beyond redemption"? Sorry, I don't buy it.

Terry Thompson's avatar

Yep, they were. Or (take your pick) they decided they LIKED being depraved.

Bigots will vote for hatred over their best interests. That's what bigotry is. And calling bigotry an opinion, is like calling arsenic a flavor.

Hound's avatar

Wow that was great. It’s like in the Bible belt when they call insurrection and segregation and slavery heritage. If that is their heritage they are endorsing the heritage of evil oppression and brutality.

Bobbi's avatar

"They" don't even understand what the word means 😅😅🤣😂😁

Sometimes people can’t handle the truth. Sometimes people deny the truth because they can’t handle the truth.

They cheered and shouted hang Mike Pence who is everything those hypocrites pretend to be.

They know that Trump is a criminal, a traitor, a pedophile, a pervert, a liar, a thief, a womanizer, an insurrectionist when they cannot tell you any redeeming values about him.

You can judge a person by the company they keep. At this point anyone who supports Donald Trump is morally depraved and beyond redemption with the exception of people who might be mildly retarded.

I understand why you don’t wanna believe it because it’s a really hard pill to swallow.

Stop denying reality - and documented science. The book THE AUTHORITARIANS and the AUTHORITARIAN PERSONALITY clearly describe how these people become depraved and refuse to change even in the face of overwhelming evidence contradicting their rotten worldview. Stop defending the indefensible.

According to the Bible there are people who are beyond redemption.

It would seem that someone who knows exactly what Donald Trump is, a predatory criminal, a liar, a rapist, a pedophile, a traitor an insurrectionist, a coward, a draft dodger, a thief, a swindler and a pervert.

Anyone who would support Donald Trump or people like him are morally depraved. They know what he is and they approve. So if someone approves of moral depravity and then supports it they are beyond redemption. They were born that way. The mental health industry might call them sociopaths, antisocial personality, narcissist, pathological liars, and a lot of other psychobabble. If someone supports and approves of evil it would be foolish to say it was how they were raised because everybody knows right from wrong. When someone chooses to support evil things such as what Trump and the people around him do the choices they make show who they are and what they are is beyond redemption.

According to the Bible they were predestined for hell. According to the Bible God already knew that they were going to be evil people and he made them evil. They have no choice in the matter. They exist to do evil.

Thanks for this, Mary. Reporters talk to the Criminal President practically every day. Why aren’t they asking about these things? And by the way, when the Misogynist Pig President calls a reporter nasty names, why aren’t the other reporters sticking up for their colleague? If he bans them, so what? Whatever he says is a goddamn lie anyway.

Felice Lynley's avatar

He is now arresting reporters.

Felice Lynley's avatar

He did, a couple weeks ago. Can’t remember the journalist name.

Susanna J. Sturgis's avatar

Almost exactly six years ago, on March 31, 2020, Jeff Tiedrich issued his challenge: "The first reporter to stand up and ask 'What the fuck is wrong with you?' should get a lifetime Pulitzer." The challenge still hasn't been met. Nuff said. (I'm guessing that Jeff would be OK if the reporter substituted "hell" for the f-word.)

They're not reporters. They're sycophants and propagandists.

They don't want to get thrown off the airplane?

I'm only half joking.

I keep expecting the plane to suddenly go low enough to be able to open a door and throw a reporter out. Because that's what this regime has done to my head.

Here in San Diego, news of Cesar Chavez's sexual assault of women and girls has immediately spurred action to rename things bearing his name. "As Californians reel from César Chávez’s sex abuse allegations, city leaders across the state say they are considering removing his iconography from their cities by changing street names, libraries and monuments named after the labor rights leader. From San Francisco to San Diego, local officials have said they would support removing statues and renaming everything from parks to libraries in Chavez’ name after renowned activist Dolores Huerta, 95, said Chávez forced himself on her in encounters that led to unwanted pregnancies."

The dominos of male abuse are falling. How long before it reaches across the nation to the worst of the worst?

Yet, Donald Trump somehow is immune to all legal punishment. No one in history has gotten away with so much crime, corruption, treachery & treason. The only ones comparable in the world are Vladimir Putin & Bibi Netanyahu, all sadonarcissistic psychopaths.

Maddy's avatar

Well said, and I so agree with you!

pilar's avatar

We’re doomed.

Susan Wells's avatar

He's only immune for federal crimes while in the performance of his official duties as POTUS - not crimes in general as was proven when he was convicted on 34 counts in NYC.

James Rankin's avatar

That was in-between presidencies, so that official immunity should not have applied, anyway, & he still didn't get punished despite being convicted. There was no sentence. The even more serious crimes, one involving insurrection, sedition & a self-coup, & the other involving espionage & confiscation of top secret classified intelligence, which he no doubt sent to foreign adversaries, didn't even get prosecuted because of interference by a corrupt judge & an equally corrupt US Supreme Court. What I meant by "immune" was not his corruptly & unconstitutionally assigned "presidential immunity", but his uncanny ability to escape justice no matter what horrific crime he commits, even when he does it repeatedly & out in the open.

I still can’t believe that tRump is “Immune” to all legal punishment for Federal Crimes while a Shi***ng Pedo-president.

Seriously, it’s ridiculous not to to think about… WHAT COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG??? Geeezzz.🤡👹👿🤢🤮

You said it Patty. And I said it right after you.

Do we really believe that Chavez's track record is news to many people who actually knew the man or moved in his circles?

Patty Mooney's avatar

We've contributed to United Farm Workers for decades (beginning at the time of the "Wrath of Grapes" - and I still have a difficult time eating grapes after years of boycotting them) and it is news to me.

Hopefully, the judge will ignore the recommendation and give the maximum sentence. He should also refer the attorneys to the bar association for disbarment.

Patty Forst's avatar

He (Donald) and his merry band of rapists are reprehensible and abhorrent to their victims and those of us who have worked hard to prosecute and convict predators. Good people, rise up and stop this predatory stain.

With Project 2025/2026/infinity 😒 wanting to LOWER the age of consent and keep women out of universities, I’d say they ARE trying to normalize the abuse of women and children! White men are possessed with the need to control those they deem inferior: which includes everyone who isn’t them. These perverts don’t want to be seen for what they are: PERVERTS.

What stood out to me about this article (besides the obvious) is:

1. America, with all these appointments into important positions by Trump loyalists, is going to become a *massive* 'brain drain', where all people with genuine expertise are being removed and replaced by people who have little more than loyalty to speak of. Experience that was built up over decades of service will be lost completely. That's going to seriously affect a lot of fields, not least of all the legal system.

2. Pam Bondi has spent a decade, up to her position within this regime, working for child protection and anti-trafficking. She was proud of it. To see her now actively working against those two pillars is both hypocritical and disgraceful.

Vivien Beere's avatar

I always wondered why she has so completely sold out. Was she bought? Is she hiding her own abuse history(I’m not like then) What’s going on there?

Sharyn Hall's avatar

She could have been bought, she could have been forced - like everyone else - to 'toe the line' of the regime, or else. If she wants power/influence, she does what they say.

Vix's avatar

# 1.. you speak as if this situation is current or in the future.

This has already happened.

Sharyn Hall's avatar

'Brain drain' can be interpreted in two ways: first, professionals leaving the country (not what I'm talking about); and second, 'brain drain' from the sudden stop of employment of longer-term and/or older-agwd employees being forced to leave. It has already begun, yes, but it has not been so far along that it has truly hit the consciousness of the majority of the country. When it does, it will feel staggering.

Kathleen Kilburn's avatar

#1: endorse, heartily

#2: for reals? she was a good guy, once upon a time?

Sharyn Hall's avatar

She started what's known as the 'Florida Council on Human Trafficking', aiming to fight child sex abuse and sex trafficking. She's really become a piece of work now, hey.

Pasqual Allen's avatar

Yep you said it perfectly. I think media accepts and decides who they want to believe. Look at Caesar Chavez statues coming down. Holidays changed. And rightfully so. And this??? Nothing. Buisness as usual. And the elephant screaming in the room. You just shake your head and look at the complete injustice. Believe only some victims. Don’t believe these victims because we can’t being sarcastic. But you get it. All victims should have justice. Not just some.

I'm 64. I remember as a young girl being oh-so-carefully taught that girls who didn't "behave properly" were "sluts" who were "asking for it." I bet that the centuries-old trope of the "fallen woman" is just another manipulation of the patriarchy to prevent "nice people" including "nice women" from protecting "fallen" girls and women from abuse. In other words, we've been desensitized from thinking that "certain" teenage girls are victims, rather than deserving whatever life deals them, for a very, very, very long time.

Kathy Horn's avatar

Thanks for letting us know about the Tate connection to the regime. Every day is a fresh horror. Internationally, we’ve become a rogue state. Domestically, we seem to have a fusion of government and organized crime. All kinds of sex criminals are getting away with things, yes, but let’s not forget the fraudsters getting pardons and the nonstop grifting from all of the people in and surrounding the regime. 🤬

Sharon's avatar

The way this is being played out hurts me to my core. It is so hard to believe that so many just make excuses for this. It is very painful.
