I’m all for ousting Johnson. Bring on Hakeem for some sanity.

Meg's avatar

Too bad that will never happen, I just love Hakeem and I hope to see him run for President one day.

DR Darke's avatar

At this rate, the Republicans may HAVE to choose Hakeem Jeffries because there's nobody else left who wants the job!

Lynn Matsuoka's avatar

Whatever it takes! Hakim is wonderful, and we need him in that position.

So it will take all of what? one? two? republicans to be so disgusted that they vote for Hakeem in the next speaker vote (coming soon to a drive-in, I mean House, near you).

Linda Landis's avatar

It would bring adulthood back to the Speaker’s chair, and sanity back to the House.

Nancy Lent Lanoue's avatar

Fingers crossed for Hakeem! So much sanity! I just hope the Speakership doesn’t go “from the frying pan into the 🔥 fire ((of Hell).

How could it get worse under MAGA?

What is going on here. Get a grip.

I was also born a Karen. Thanks for setting us straight. Anyway, people only put down those that are brighter than themselves.

Thank you, Mary, for keeping us informed. 💙

Even though I am not surprised about Mike Johnson's fate, I am relieved that a government shutdown has been averted.

Rick Calegari's avatar

First McCarthy now maybe Johnson. Not close to being a fan of either one of them but the GOP'S 4th Reich doesn't want anything to do with bipartisan collaboration. It's their MAGA twisted wrong way or the highway.

Lynn Matsuoka's avatar

Right, and it’s the highway where they need to go.

“Weak people revenge. Strong people forgive. Intelligent People Ignore.”

— Albert Einstein

All day all night please run the clips in swing states of Republicans refusal to serve the citizens of the USA. All else is commentary.

Polly Sears's avatar

I must be very weak, as, I only hope that all these people trying to abolish democracy will meet their demise. Sooner rather than later.

Liz's avatar

When they meet the demise of their political career, it won’t be due to revenge, it will be due to justice.

Polly Sears's avatar

I agree, but, revenge can come in many forms, satisfaction ,justification, and, a bit of "gotcha "!!

Liz's avatar

Oh I get it. I love it when the law of “fuck around and find out” catches up to the worst offenders.

Lynn Matsuoka's avatar

Well, it’s slow to come, but let’s hope it continues till all the work is done! And all the liars and deniers are cast away, whether into the gutter or the clink!

Lynn Matsuoka's avatar

You are not weak, you are just fed up like the rest of us with the BS, with these useless wastes of space and time, betraying their oaths of office, and not being brought down for it… We need governance with people of integrity, intelligence, and interest in others besides their’s and the orange butt.

Polly Sears's avatar

I totally agree. DjT is getting more confused everytime he speaks. Can anyone imagine this idiot being the president again. I can't!

Lynn Matsuoka's avatar

And that’s only one of the very many reasons. He is stupid, he’s ignorant, he’s uneducated, doesn’t have a clue about what to do with the world, or even how to buy a loaf of bread as we know by now, He knows how to grab a pussy, but that is NOT a qualification for President of the United States.

Linda Landis's avatar

The freedom caucus is about anything BUT freedom. How they define it is anyone’s guess. Governing has never been on the mind of any Republican let alone a Maga. Somebody decides to work with Democrats like a grown-up, and the rest of the party would rather have him crucified. Crashing the entire government, and the economy of the United States seems to be on the mind of every Republican these days as a vengeful act for having lost elections. Generally, in a sporting event when you’re losing you change your strategy. These guys don’t seem to understand that concept.🤦‍♀️. When they would rather do something like crash, the economy, everyone loses, including the people that put these people in office. But they don’t think that far. The end of their nose is about as far as it goes.

olpossum's avatar

It used to be, back when John Boehner was being run ragged by the so-called Freedom Caucus, that I heard an NPR reporter explain that the FC was wholly-owned by the then-Koch brothers, so they didn't need Republican party money, and they did what the Kochs wanted them to do. Did the surviving Koch brother, Chuck, sell that division, or does he still own it?

Linda Landis's avatar

I always felt that Boehner wanted to do the right thing and work with Dems and Obama for the greater good in the end, but his party and FC tied his hands. What a shame. All these magas do is make our lives miserable. I can’t wait for Jack Smith to start taking congress by storm over Jan 6.

Kate Cassidy's avatar

I believe they now own the Baltimore Star. How horrible is that! Right handed right wingers writing "Wrongs"!

Marge Wherley's avatar

Well said, Linda! ❤️

Uh-huh, akin to "Bitting Off Your Nose,

Lynn Matsuoka's avatar

Intelligence and foresight is absolutely in short supply with the magats

Nora's avatar

We’ve got to save the clips of the few GOP who have actually said out loud, on 🎤 in interviews, that their plan is and has always been to Stop President Biden from accomplishing ANYTHING that would garner his support and approval. This includes the Border Crisis. They absolutely refuse to go along with everything they’ve demanded to initiate changes to improve the Border, yet refuse to Sign and pass on to the Senate. Even Turtle McConnell and Lindsey Graham have stated Best Deal they’ll ever get, yet they’re blocking it to stop Biden from getting credit or general approval from us citizens. That stuff and so many more of their hypocrisy must be made loud and clear at your future events, IMO.

Marlo's avatar

It doesn’t matter WHO it is, the Republicans will vote against anything that a Democrat wants to put forward . They just want to block everything.

Lynn Matsuoka's avatar

What the magats are too stupid and short sighted to understand is that they are limiting their own freedoms and quality of life by being such idiots. By being vengeful, and following the road drawn by sharpie by the dimwitted orange one navigating only for his own profit.

Marlo's avatar

And Tim Scott is showing his true colors. Haley appointed him and this is how he thanks her? By supporting her opponent? And isn’t he LISTENING? Trump is a RACIST! He was sued when he was young with his father for restricting blacks from renting from him. He lost. What is he thinking?

Thank you for that great new word! The magats word is never constructive, never intelligently thought out – look at the economy, look at the strides Biden has made, nobody’s perfect, but Biden‘s been doing a brilliant job, more in his short time in office than Trump could even think of doing, and of course, Trump doesn’t think. Trump accomplished adding 8

trillion dollars to our national debt, and thousands of people died as a result of his lies about Covid, so he could sell hydroxy whatever it was – that phony med that HE had heavily invested in according to reports, again only for his own profit while people died. This guy is a disaster of such magnitude that people just can’t conceive of it. What’s wrong with those who follow him?

Judith L Hubbard's avatar

I read the idea to block border legislation was to make it a defining issue in election 2024; ie let people DIE in the Rio Grande and do nothing because they need an issue for messaging Trump’s election and if it’s already done, what have they got on the table to offer?

John Smart's avatar

Who in god’s name votes for these freaks?

Harlemscorp's avatar

You know, Those like-minded, vote against your kids/self; that 💩🤡s segment of the population....

Judith L Hubbard's avatar

The entire GOP voted for MAGA MIKE. It was shocking that they did it so very quickly; there’s more going on behind those conference doors than we’ll ever know.

Kate Cassidy's avatar

Apparently other inbred freaks....

I am repulsed by the repugnant actors in the house, but I have to say that Mary's use of the word "prominent" to describe Gaetz, MTG, et al misses the mark. Being prominent connotes some sort of importance or expertise (though famous also is a definition and these clowns unfortunately are). The Freedom Caucus is infamous; they are obstructionists, and they are dangerous. Please call them what they are.

Thank you, Mary, for being a proponent of Democracy and an activist in the best sense of the word.

Janine's avatar

You said it all. That one word.

Lynn Matsuoka's avatar

Mary is definitely our hero.

Kelly Cannon's avatar

“Prominant” can mean “famous” but it can also mean “influential,” and unfortunately he has proven to be just that.

Tracy's avatar

Yet, he's a Cristo-Fascist. Their kinda Republican.

I won't be sad to see him go, however the FC don't understand he's trying to save their jobs.

I say, let them continue to play politics & then they'll self-destroy!

JennSH from NC's avatar

I wish the Freedom Caucus would self-destruct. I have family members who live in Matt Gaetz's district. Sadly, his sorry, incompetent self will be re-elected.

Tracy's avatar

Yet, he may not be able to serve a full term, once Jack Smith moves on to Congress after PO1135809 is convicted.

Sandi M's avatar

I also live in this district. It was more normal when I first moved here. With only 13% Dems and 18% Independents he is all but impossible to get rid of. These MAGAt types think he's wonderful. Hoping someday I find an exit plan from here!

Wookiee Monster's avatar

It’s amazing MAGA Mike lasted as long as he did. He sucks at the job more than Kevin did.

John Parken's avatar

As much as I disagree with, and generally detest, Mssrs McCarthy and Johnson, I feel there is something terribly unAmerian about a single person being able to exert such pressure. Of course, McCarthy could have been and and Johnson could be retained by a simple majority vote.

The reason that Democrats almost always "loose" is that Democrats tend to do what they feel is best for the country while Republicans tend to do what they feel is best for themselves.

The greatest irony I can recall is that the party that has long claimed to be loyal to our country, Patriotic, and "the law and order party" is in fact the least Patriotic, the most disloyal, and the home of by far the most indicted and convicted felons.

Morgan's avatar

HAKEEM!!!!! I’m watching the Repuklican Grievance Brigade melt the fuck down!! Johnson is another Weasel Dick Fucktwat who is not strong enough to reign in his party.... let’s just skip the bullshit and get a sane human in there and get the damn job done.. before the rest of us lose our ever loving minds watching the Repuklicans Fuck Around and Then Finding Out how truly stupid they are🤬

Tama2U's avatar

Yeah I agree...I’m ok with this. Johnson is a handmaids boss which means he’s creepy as hell. Hakeem is getting my full energy from the cosmos. But can it happen really? I’m interested in your thought process on this possibility.

David Skoglund's avatar

My understanding is the House Republican majority is down to two seats with the ouster of George Santos and the medical absence of Steve Scalise.

Dr. Joanie Tool's avatar

I know the ‘Freedom Caucus’ talks a big game but I also know that this group of horrid Republicans do not want to lose the House in 24 and I think they have an inkling that the entire electorate as a whole will see the loss of another R speaker and/or a shutdown as a very poor reflection of the R party leading the House. I can’t stand Johnson either but at least so far he seems to be acting like a pragmatist … they don’t have enough seats to ignore the Democrats or their ability to save them from themselves. And Mary, please take care of yourself. COVID is rampant. As are other illnesses and nobody wants to see your well-being sacrificed for the MAGA crowd. I honestly question whether ‘swing voters’ even exist. To me I see crazy ‘Biden isn’t legitimate President’ and rational people. I have to believe there are more of us logical thinkers. Supporters of democracy. I have to believe that to get through this year.

Liz's avatar

Shocking. Micro Johnson thought that the leopards in the leopard face eating party wouldn’t eat his face? Fucking typical. Hopefully he’ll go the way of my Kevin and fucking retire into oblivion where he can go to all the purity balls with his daughter and slap the ole meat pole to his son’s favorite porn.

KWF's avatar

Ha, that not the only meat he like to slap. Wifey’s hocus pocus spells to pray the gay away never worked on him. He’s been seen at the gay bars in his home town for decades.

I’d love to see his VPN browser history.

Actually probably not because there’s definitely some weird ass shit on there .
