How anyone can confuse Democrats with Communists baffles me. If, by “Democrat” you mean progressives like AOC, they want democracy, equal rights and a rule of law that applies to everyone. Communism is the antithesis of that. If you are talking about corporate Democrats, while they have taken over too much of the party for my liking, they are at least opposed to excessive taxation and regulations that prevent them from getting the talent they seek.
My long-gone uncle, who marched for civil rights, shut down family members who used racial slurs and spoke in favor of same-sex marriage efore most people even thought about it, was also an ardent anti-Communist.
Since it's been going on my entire lifetime -- I was born in 1951, when Joe McCarthy was on the loose, and the right wing was on a tear about how the Democrats had "lost China" -- I'm not surprised at all. Keep in mind that no one is "confusing" Democrats with Communists. They're using the label "Communist" to trash Democrats, even though they don't really know what it means.
It does interest me that as a slur "Communist" (or "communist," lowercase) is making a comeback. For decades "socialist" has done the job. My hunch is that "socialist" has gone mainstream enough to have lost much of its power, at least in some parts of the country. And *that* is very encouraging.
Both "sleepy" and "slobby" are consistent with his MO: he regularly accuses others of what he himself is guilty. Remember "You're the puppet" in that 2016 debate with Hillary Clinton?
