As I read the transcript of Donald speaking here in NC, I'm struck by how it much it's like what my brother-in-law spends his days writing. Not the content but rather the flow. Broken thoughts. He imagines himself as a reporter.
My BIL has an IQ in the mid 50s. He doesn't understand everything he's told. He makes up fantastical things. He lies. He is very trusting. He's sneaky. He never outgrew the baby 'I'm center-of-the-universe' mind. He can be very sweet and people like him.
It's hard to convince people who don't know him well that he has a less than ideal side. He had a therapist convinced that he could hold a job as a reporter or photographer for a newspaper. I showed him some of what BIL wrote. He was dumbfounded. Husband and I are continually amazed that people can take what BIL says at face value. Mary, I feel your frustration.
