Term limits, statement of ethics, expansion of the court to 13, one for every circuit court.

Why are they never concerned about trans boys playing boys' sports?

Why was it OK for Short Fingers to let wealthy Russian women stay at his properties some years back, so they could give birth to an American citizen?

When are they going to go after Sections 2, 3, and 4 of the 14th Amendment?

… And Never Enough. There was yet another case you didn’t mention. In Trump v Slaughter, the court handed Donald the power to fire and replace any person in any one of what were once called independent agencies. They were specifically structured to make it impossible for the courts or the executive branch to overpower them. Now, the worst of the worst jurists have given America its first dictator. Agency officials that don’t like him disappear.

Almost 400,000 Haitians and Syrians are now in danger of deportation. When that happens, it will cause a healthcare and home care crisis that will cause millions of families to put loved ones in institutions, something Todd Blanche is already working on. They too will disappear.

The few immigrants who are allowed to stay will have only the option to become a grossly underpaid workforce. In other words, indentured slaves.

And all because of a first generation Jew, who works every day to outdo the cruelty of Joseph Goebbels in every way.

"Slaughter" . . . could there be a more appropriate name?! That is exactly how DJT will use the decision.

I wonder why people still want to come here...

Gregg Hill's avatar

I suspect that ignorance is a factor.

Maureen O'Malley's avatar

That accounts for why they stay. Unless you mean ignorance concerning how despicable our country has become.

Gregg Hill's avatar

Both. People moving to the US aren't likely reading or watching alternative media before they do so. I don't watch/read establishment media, not even much Canadian (which I am), but I imagine you know rather better than I do the ways that the MSM portrays US society in general and its politics in particular positively.

Miller and Mullin are perfect examples of creatures operating with defective mental capacity and virtually no humanity. There are rocks in my garden with more intelligence and decency than either of them, or Felon47 or the psycho group of Justices or the GOP congressional members. This feels more and more like an alternate dimension every day, with so much of what was the best of us, that was fought for and won by some of us and by so many before us is just being tossed aside or flushed away to satisfy a comparative few.

VOTE VOTE VOTE VOTE STOP THIS UGLY, DESPICABLE INSANITY

The first essential step to dealing with today's US Supreme Court is not so much to ask why the US has this type of Supreme Court, but rather why every other country in the developed world doesn't.

I like this.... now do the Electoral College!

Gregg Hill's avatar

Absolutely. Incidentally, if you weren't aware the novelist James Michener of "Hawaii" etc. fame back in 1969 wrote a detailed history and critique of the Electoral College called "Presidential Lottery" where he explained the risk of the winner in the national popular vote losing in the Electoral College. At that time it hadn't happened since 1888 when Grover Cleveland lost to Benjamin Harrison. Since then it's happened in 2000 and 2016. Is it just a coincidence that in all three cases a Democrat lost to a Republican?

Gail M Doucette's avatar

I was not aware, thanks for the info. And I don't believe in coincidences when it comes to elections. Happy 250th, let's celebrate by righting the ship and sailing towards a better next 250.

All of this is disturbing, but most disturbing of all is the close call we had on the 14th amendment. The vote should have been 9-0, yet 3, and depending on how you count, maybe 4 of the justices voted to negate a constitutional amendment duly ratified in 1868. What utter nerve of these guys. Who do they think they are? God almighty? They think they can overturn a part of the constitution that was approved by the Congress and then the population of the US and has stood the test of time for more than 150 years? I hope that with a new administration not obsessed with its own wishes will do something to put the brakes on this runaway court.

Paula Taylor's avatar

It's deeply disturbing that they in effect, once again gave him full immunity by giving him the power to fire any independent agency head he wants, no reason required. Sonia Sotomayor "called it authority even the English crown never had. Then she warned the country what comes next. Chaos will follow." This all started as soon as he was inaugurated and Doge entered the scene. It cannot be altered or protested. The head of every federal agency will now be fired and a loyalist put in their place. We can't survive this!

So Fred Sr. benefited from birthright citizenship, but sonny boy says it's destructive. Case in point. That's one of the few truisms he's ever uttered.

Thank you for the article, Mary. Well I agree reform everything if we have to put LGBTQ rights in the constitution, the SUPREME COURT. Holding people accountable. I will be honest with you, Republicans are afraid, I went off on a Senator Team about my medication. President Biden had the Department of Veterans Affairs going just fine know one went without. Get rid of all signs with the Trump name on them all. Trump is a grown man who really has lots of growing up to do.

That ruling limiting the lower courts’ ability to rein Donald in means we will see the executive order version of the “SAVE” Act again.

It'll take a constitutional amendment to effect some of the SCOTUS reforms needed. This might be a useful first draft of one: https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2025/9/16/2343752/community/Amendment-Limiting-the-Number-of-SCOTUS-Justices-the-Senate-May-Confirm-During-a-President-s-Term/

Google Lea Thomas, college athlete. Review here swim records before and after transition. Review images of her with her teammates. If taken to logical conclusion, over time, our women's sports will have very large representations of trans women.

I am not really worried about Saatn Incarnate in The White House. He REALLY won't get away with anything. How so? (1) "All born will taste death." (Quran 21:35) Trump will "taste death" someday somehow somewhere as did the 100+ people he has blown out of the water in The Carribean Sea. Then he will face Allah concerning what he did in Earthly life. (2) "At The End of The World the elements will disintegrate in flames..." (2nd Peter 3:10) The End of The Created Universe will stop Donald Trump will it not? (3) "I will fill Hell with Jinn and Humans altogether - a Multitude from every Community." (Quran 11:119) But in order to become worthy of Hell as Punishment Donald Trump might have to do more Evil than he has done so far. His Crimes Against Humanity have to fit The Punishment. If the Punishment is Eternal then what Crime is so heinous that Hell would be insufficient Punishment for It? In any event whatever Satan Incarnate in The White House would deprive me of - even my very life on Earth - Allah Most Merciful and Most Compassionate could give me something more satisfying in its place - even The True Life. "Earthly life is not The True Life." (Quran 29:64) Amen?

While I agree 100% with everything Mary says here, there is one thing I don’t understand. She repeatedly describes this court as corrupt, and that has clearly been shown. But she also claims they are illegitimate, and that’s what I don’t understand. Can someone enlighten me, please?
