However, I think the Senators did the right thing by being appropriate throughout. I liked Adam Schiff’s summary about everything that she did not answer.

What I saw in my career as a journalist is that my house was falling apart around me. I didn’t do the upkeep I should have while I was writing.
One day I noticed water dripping onto my desk from the ceiling in the billiard room - which I used as my study.
The roof leaked. I kept telling myself I'd fix it someday - but that day never seemed to come.
I don’t know why I chose the billiard room. The house had 24 others. It was a Gothic Victorian Western Homestead with cathedral ceilings. It was my idea, or at least I had asked for them. They seemed to be a good thing at the time.
In retrospect, that was a lot of slate sitting over my head. It must have also been raining in some of the other rooms. But, I never had the time to revisit them and check.
They were mostly for guests, servants, and other things like kitchens and bathrooms. I figured their occupants would take care of it, and tell me if something was going wrong.
All the fireplaces also kept catching fire. Not just the hearth - the whole damn thing, chimney and all. I suppose I should’ve had the sweeps clean out the suet now and then.
I was always fascinated by new fangled gizmos. We’d hauled in all the modern conveniences of the time. We had the first flush toilets, hot water radiators, and even gas lighting fixtures in every room, with a lot of buried pipes in the walls.
The place was built like a fortress, with wood siding on the outside to give it some western hospitality and make it look like a ranch. I know, I know - with cathedral ceilings. What was I thinking?
The pipes were embedded between two layers of pressure bricks, covered by slats and plaster. When we had plumbing problems, we couldn’t get at anything to fix it. So, we left it alone.
I’m surprised the whole house didn’t blow up while we were still living in it.
That’s erosion for you - it creeps up when you least expect it. I didn’t have the money to maintain the place, even if I’d tried. The mortgage had already reached the moon. So, we had to sell it - and move out.
Empires have a way of quietly collapsing in the same steps.
It starts with picking on those who no one will defend. The homeless, the destitute, the disabled, and the aged - all who are estranged or abandoned. It happens to all of us as we get older. We get locked inside what's left of our minds.
Nobody cares if we cease to exist. We become a problem to others, and the easiest targets for a regime, because there's no resistance when it comes to our welfare.
Then the regime moves on to those who are different and unwanted. The gays, the know-it-alls, the people of color, and other minorities.
It’s not done because of anything about them. These groups can offer some opposition, especially with outside support. It’s done to acclimate the rest of us - to make it seem normal for the government to do this, and teach us not to get involved.
Finally, the regime goes after all of us. It’s the women, the dissenters, the contrarians, the reporters, the teachers, and the truthers.
Then come the doers. The librarians, the inventors, the technicians, the explorers, the builders, the healers, and the people who ask questions.
They don’t stop there. They come for the children, the progressives, the rebellious, the experts - and anyone else who might one day get in the way.
It’s anyone who doesn’t offer VALUE to the few still clinging to power. And those who remain, party like it’s the roaring twenties - while everything else is falling apart around them.
By then, it’s too late. There’s nobody left to be ruled. A once-great nation is gone. Trust me, you don’t get it back. I wish I’d taken better care of my own house when I had it.
Tomorrow is No Kings Day. Let the crowns fail, and not the country fall.
No, but with that said... she is still doing YouTube videos.
There could be several reasons, one of which some of her paid subscribers tried to cancel and go back to an unpaid subscription (because they lost their job, or social security, or health coverage and can't afford it anymore) yet substack still keeps billing them.
Mary has no control over the process and lodged several complaints with substack to have it fixed. so, she is conflicted about bringing new users into this "scam". BTW, you can file with most credit card companies to block the credit card charges when a vendor refuses to close your paid subscription. You can do the same for automatic withdrawals from most banks.
The other thing is Mary works as a psychologist and does see clients. that takes a lot of her time. There are more stressed out people than ever before seeking counselling help.
And, Mary is involved with other organizations fighting authoritarianism, and is frequently consulted by other media organizations for interviews.
Also, trump trolls have been threatening people and trying to cause mayhem, especially here. so, if she engages here, she ends up spending a lot of time patrolling things instead of doing the other stuff.
The last reason is a little hard to understand, and that is some resources Mary and I relied on mysteriously disappeared.
but, it's more a temporal anomaly because all the efforts to stop a future global disaster are paying off, and the situation that had caused these resources to manifest in the first place seems to have been resolved (in the future). So, on our end we have to stay the course so the resolution actually still happens.

What I saw in my career as a journalist is that my house was falling apart around me. I didn’t do the upkeep I should have while I was writing.
One day I noticed water dripping onto my desk from the ceiling in the billiard room - which I used as my study.
The roof leaked. I kept telling myself I'd fix it someday - but that day never seemed to come.
I don’t know why I chose the billiard room. The house had 24 others. It was a Gothic Victorian Western Homestead with cathedral ceilings. It was my idea, or at least I had asked for them. They seemed to be a good thing at the time.
In retrospect, that was a lot of slate sitting over my head. It must have also been raining in some of the other rooms. But, I never had the time to revisit them and check.
They were mostly for guests, servants, and other things like kitchens and bathrooms. I figured their occupants would take care of it, and tell me if something was going wrong.
All the fireplaces also kept catching fire. Not just the hearth - the whole damn thing, chimney and all. I suppose I should’ve had the sweeps clean out the suet now and then.
I was always fascinated by new fangled gizmos. We’d hauled in all the modern conveniences of the time. We had the first flush toilets, hot water radiators, and even gas lighting fixtures in every room, with a lot of buried pipes in the walls.
The place was built like a fortress, with wood siding on the outside to give it some western hospitality and make it look like a ranch. I know, I know - with cathedral ceilings. What was I thinking?
The pipes were embedded between two layers of pressure bricks, covered by slats and plaster. When we had plumbing problems, we couldn’t get at anything to fix it. So, we left it alone.
I’m surprised the whole house didn’t blow up while we were still living in it.
That’s erosion for you - it creeps up when you least expect it. I didn’t have the money to maintain the place, even if I’d tried. The mortgage had already reached the moon. So, we had to sell it - and move out.
Empires have a way of quietly collapsing in the same steps.
It starts with picking on those who no one will defend. The homeless, the destitute, the disabled, and the aged - all who are estranged or abandoned. It happens to all of us as we get older. We get locked inside what's left of our minds.
Nobody cares if we cease to exist. We become a problem to others, and the easiest targets for a regime, because there's no resistance when it comes to our welfare.
Then the regime moves on to those who are different and unwanted. The gays, the know-it-alls, the people of color, and other minorities.
It’s not done because of anything about them. These groups can offer some opposition, especially with outside support. It’s done to acclimate the rest of us - to make it seem normal for the government to do this, and teach us not to get involved.
Finally, the regime goes after all of us. It’s the women, the dissenters, the contrarians, the reporters, the teachers, and the truthers.
Then come the doers. The librarians, the inventors, the technicians, the explorers, the builders, the healers, and the people who ask questions.
They don’t stop there. They come for the children, the progressives, the rebellious, the experts - and anyone else who might one day get in the way.
It’s anyone who doesn’t offer VALUE to the few still clinging to power. And those who remain, party like it’s the roaring twenties - while everything else is falling apart around them.
By then, it’s too late. There’s nobody left to be ruled. A once-great nation is gone. Trust me, you don’t get it back. I wish I’d taken better care of my own house when I had it.
Tomorrow is No Kings Day. Let the crowns fail, and not the country fall.

Does anyone know why Mary’s live daily news show hasn’t been appearing on Substack lately? Usually it airs ~6:00 PM Eastern time zone.
No, but with that said... she is still doing YouTube videos.
There could be several reasons, one of which some of her paid subscribers tried to cancel and go back to an unpaid subscription (because they lost their job, or social security, or health coverage and can't afford it anymore) yet substack still keeps billing them.
Mary has no control over the process and lodged several complaints with substack to have it fixed. so, she is conflicted about bringing new users into this "scam". BTW, you can file with most credit card companies to block the credit card charges when a vendor refuses to close your paid subscription. You can do the same for automatic withdrawals from most banks.
The other thing is Mary works as a psychologist and does see clients. that takes a lot of her time. There are more stressed out people than ever before seeking counselling help.
And, Mary is involved with other organizations fighting authoritarianism, and is frequently consulted by other media organizations for interviews.
Also, trump trolls have been threatening people and trying to cause mayhem, especially here. so, if she engages here, she ends up spending a lot of time patrolling things instead of doing the other stuff.
The last reason is a little hard to understand, and that is some resources Mary and I relied on mysteriously disappeared.
but, it's more a temporal anomaly because all the efforts to stop a future global disaster are paying off, and the situation that had caused these resources to manifest in the first place seems to have been resolved (in the future). So, on our end we have to stay the course so the resolution actually still happens.
Uh, I should perhaps clarify - the resources are not "gone". They are still there, just a different timeline that we created

I’ve heard it said that justice is blind. She may be blind, but lately she's acquired a damn nose for anyone's money.
These nine justices of the federal Supreme Court interpret the Constitution like it was written by Trump, for Trump, and nobody else - but Trump.
It amazes me that our founding fathers had the foresight to anticipate the coming immaculation of a self-serving demagogue, and wrote a constitution for him. But how did they know?
These same justices also once said, “We are not politicians.” And then they promptly vote like one.
Apparently, the Vice President too now thinks the law's not about what's right or wrong - but what's in it for him.
That’s what seems to happen when someone thinks they are about to receive the Trump torch.
Vance used to compare Trump to Hitler. Now, he's okay with it. Because, Vance has a real chance at becoming a President. Nobody gave him anything like that before, and he knows nobody in a right mind will ever again.
I remember a judge named Rothaug. He was convicted at Nuremberg for sentencing innocent people under Nazi law. What was his defense? “I was just doing my job.” That’s the kind of excuse you hear coming from the Supreme Court these days.
I’ve seen a lot of things wrapped in different costumes over my years.
I often wondered - how does deciding the fate of millions warrant not having to explain oneself, just because you are dressed like a witch or wizard, and speak in riddles?
These people are like the Riverboat Gamblers of my time, who wore velvet to make themselves LOOK so stupid that their marks could be more easily taken in.
Except, these people wear BLACK robes - so that if you turned out the lights, you can't find them. As I mentioned, they follow the smell of money to leave and avoid any scrutiny. Just like a bloodhound.
This Court today reminds me of a monarchy of dogs - nine kings all in disguise. They don’t wear crowns. Yet they rule by lifetime appointment - which is close enough.
If God is watching, I hope He’s laughing. Otherwise, He’d be crying, and I wouldn’t blame Him.
