No easy path is left. The only option will be to put our bodies in front of the tanks. Like it or not, Thomas Jefferson's belief that "From time to time, the tree of liberty must be refreshed with the blood of patriots and tyrants" is most likely our turn to validate.

Yes, and if he is ILLEGALLY murdering people in boats declaring them guilty without due process. Are WE going to be labelled terrorists just for speaking out and carted off to CECOT or Alligator Alcatraz or shot in the kneecaps as he wanted the military to do to those peacefully protesting at a BLM protest?

I would like to address Trump's now infamous address to his troops this week.

On October 2, 2025, Yahoo News reprinted an article from The Hill, which ran the day before, that was entitled: “Retired General: Trump Sounded ‘Incoherent, Exhausted’ in Quantico Remarks”; Ashleigh Fields (The Hill) October 1, 2025 at 3:01 PM EDT:

"Retired Gen. Barry McCaffrey on Wednesday described President Trump’s Quantico, Va., remarks to top generals as less than admirable.

“I’ve been doing this a long time. That presentation at Quantico from the president and Secretary of Defense was one of the most bizarre, unsettling events I’ve ever encountered,” McCaffrey said during an appearance on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”“The president sounded incoherent, exhausted, rabidly partisan, at times stupid, meandering, couldn’t hold a thought together,” he added.

"During his remarks on Tuesday, the president announced plans to use “dangerous” cities as “training grounds” for military efforts, alleging the United States was undergoing a “war from within.”

“We’re under invasion from within. No different than a foreign enemy but more difficult in many ways because they don’t wear uniforms,” Trump told service members, according to The Associated Press.

"He and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth both told the crowd they’d push to end “woke” policies and end the era of political correctness for the military.

"Hegseth told the crowd, “The era of politically correct, overly sensitive don’t-hurt-anyone’s-feelings leadership ends right now at every level,” the AP reported. Trump then echoed similar rhetoric, saying the purpose of the American military “is not to protect anyone’s feelings.”“It’s to protect our republic,” Trump said. ″We will not be politically correct when it comes to defending American freedom.”

"‘Even more troubling was Mr. Hegseth’s ultimatum to America’s senior officers: conform to his political worldview or step aside,’ Sen. Jack Reed (R.I.), the top Democrat on the Senate Armed Services Committee, said in a Tuesday statement. ‘That demand is profoundly dangerous. It signals that partisan loyalty matters more than capability, judgment, or service to the Constitution, undermining the principle of a professional, nonpartisan military....His words were divisive and corrosive to the force itself. America’s military strength depends on men and women of every race, gender, and creed. By dismissing and marginalizing service members who do not fit his narrow vision, Hegseth insulted those who serve honorably and eroded the cohesion that makes our military strong,’ Reed added.”

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The most frightening remark above that Trump made to our military leaders was: “We’re under invasion from within. No different than a foreign enemy but more difficult in many ways because they don’t wear uniforms,”.

This remark by Trump was reminiscent of and consistent with his notorious proclamations during the Presidential campaign that “We pledge to you that we will root out the communists, Marxists, fascists, and the radical left thugs that live like vermin within the confines of our country” and that “The threat from outside forces is far less sinister, dangerous, and grave than the threat from within. Our threat is from within”.[CNN Transcripts]

And let us remember that Trump labelled undocumented immigrants as “rapists and criminals” and frequently calls the press “the enemy of the people”.

Trump is also labelling the leading candidate for Mayor of the City of New York, Zohran Mamdani, as a “Communist” and that Trump intends to bring the full weight of his Presidency down on the people of New York City if Mamdani wins the election next month.

It all seems clear now why Trump and Hegseth were so intent on relabelling the Department of Defense as the Department of War. That is because the full resources and weight of our armed forces are about to be diverted from defending our country against external enemies to waging war on Trump’s internal enemies.

And let’s not forget Trump’s war cry on January 6, 2021 as he urged on his troops to seize the Capitol:” If you don’t fight like hell, you’re not going to have a country anymore.”

There can be no doubt that Trump is declaring war on America.

I can only imagine what was going through the minds of the best and brightest of our military leadership as they were ordered to listen to a lecture by a moronic blowhard draft dodger who had constantly denigrated veterans who had been injured or captured in the heat of battle, all of which was topped off by the presence of Hegseth, his service animal, who reeked of verbal incontinence.

The attack is from within all right. We need the military to step in.

Yodagirl's avatar

I've been posting that since March. We need to be rid of the malignancy of the Heritage Foundation and only a coup can do that.

Francis/Clare's avatar

Agree, but I fear it won't happen. The brass gathered together seemed like a opportunity, but theyve probably left town by now. That's why kegsbreath wants to vet the politics of everyone at the Pentagon. It's hard to imagine. South Korea did it, though.

I had an interesting reply to this same post back in the spring. It was from a wife of a career military man, and she warned that I do not want the military doing that, as they would not be on the side of the civilian's. It was a bit chilling to say the least.

Francis/Clare's avatar

Yikes. I'm sure some would be. Although I heard that Faux News plays all the time in base mess halls. I really don't see how we get out of this.

DARVO. DARVO. DARVO! There IS an enemy from within— within the White House, the doJ , the SCOTUS, every Cabinet, the Republikkkan members of Congress— all TRAITORS. I can’t say I would oppose a shadow government backed by those in the military of all ranks who still stand by their oath.

How do they know so quickly how many people are in those Venezualan boats? By the looks of the videos, the missiles come from a very long distance. It’s just plain creepy. This must be worrisome for every country on the planet.

Joann Principato's avatar

Yes, no one knows for sure what country the boat’s occupants were from.

Leah Baum's avatar

The wife of a fisherman said her husband was on the second blown up boats. Our military are murdering innocent people out on their boat doing their jobs. Your traitorous uncle must be charged with war crimes and crimes against humanity. He needed to be living under the prison a decade ago. Why is the military obeying unlawful orders? There is no proof these boats are drug traffickers.

Cathy Carrozza's avatar

Thank you Mary for eloquently stating my every thought. The bad guys are winning and I don’t see a clear way to put an end to this regime!! In the wildest chance that the boats were transporting drugs there was no due process!! The frightening part is the military following orders to bomb boats and murder people illegally! Did Venezuela refuse to pay the orange felon protection money?

Eat me's avatar

Orange freak and his repellent drunk war cabinet idiot and for that matter all of his ass licking sycophants and toadies are now mass murderers

Yes, Mary Trump, a lawless “regime” - a lawless fascist regime. Perhaps. Eva who.

Keith B Dixon's avatar

Thank you, Mary. As usual a perceptive an truthful indictment of the fascist regime headed by your ghastly uncle Donald Trump. Being British and holding also Canadian Citizenship and domiciled in Calgary I can only observe – and pray that the end of this terrible disgusting regime comes soon.

It took me a while of reading your blog to finally stop coasting on free access to finally step up today and support your work with a subscription. Because today and now it’s more important than ever to engage in this effort to call out the truth, to join with others who may be silent but who believe wholeheartedly in your message. Today it seems grim - thankfully you find days to celebrate some wins! Thank you and keep on writing!!!

So, what do you think might be the chances that Trump might be using the construction of the White House ballroom, together with the paving over of the rose garden, as cover to construct an underground fortress, so Trump can barricade himself inside and literally not leave. Someone should keep an eye on the equipment, material, and volume of labor carrying out the construction of the ballroom. Because that actually makes more sense than his just carrying out these projects. And the supposed gold? A perfect cover for where the money is actually going. Sounds like a great conspiracy theory, but also highly likely: nothings says Dictator or King more to a self-appointed real estate mogul more than that. So, I thought I’d just put it out there, to reserve my right to one day say, I told you so—to no one in particular. And I thought this might make you laugh.

I love "Eva Braun"! How apt! In terms of Chicago, I've stated this on another post, and I'm sure it will be unpopular and risky, but frankly, the one thing Pritzker could do to control ICE and maintain some real barriers is to bring in the Illinois Guard, if Trump doesn't have his hands on them already. I know, I know. DT will then order in the Marines and Chicago will be lit up like New Year's Eve, but maybe, just maybe, this is what it would take to take ICE down, stop their flagrant breaking of the law under Noem and her lover, Corey, and scare the shit out of Trump at some level. If Pritzker did this, and I do believe he has the balls to, the Guard would stay under his authority, not crazy one. I would also like to know how in the hell did ICE get the use of military equipment like Black Hawks and tanks????? When in the hell, even under idiot Hegseth, was this ever allowed? Guess what, it's not. ICE is NOT military at all, although I think many of their failed cops and ex-felons think they are. The Guard is, although under State control. I say let them have at it. That way, instead of Hispanic gardeners with trowels in their hands, ICE would have to be staring at AK-47s and trained military who knew how to use them. Just a thought. There'll be blood in Chicago streets anyways. It may as well as controlled by Chicagoans vs the invaders.

Francis/Clare's avatar

The National Guards carry AK-47s?

RRiveter's avatar

Probably not, what do I know of their weaponry, but I do know that ICE is absolutely not supposed to be using military equipment such as Black Hawks and tanks. Do they really think they are anywhere near similar to a Navy Seal unit, who could kick all of their asses in about 10 minutes?? But I would think that the Guard would be trained in the use of some significant weaponry which could be trained on the ill-trained, ignorant and vicious ICE agents.

I think that the killing of the Venezuelan boat people was just Trump trying to provoke a war with Venezuela

Mary, I think our leaders just want to war and make us poor. They hate everyone, even themselves. There is compassion, no empathy just greed. We are in a bad place in the country. We need to be fix and heal. I cannot figure out how we do that. Love to you for all that you do. ❤️

Kathy Hughes's avatar

Our “leaders” are actually declaring war on the people they are governing. Thst is a perfectly awful scenario.

Ray Heberer III's avatar

Didn't you mean to write, ". . . there is NO compassion. . ."??
