Thank you for the article, Mary. We had one week of temperatures from 120 to 123 degrees during the summer months. We have one plug in for an ev car, at motel. It’s cooler now. Muggy at night.

These men are psychopaths besotted by power and money... no capacity to care about anything else: even their own reputations as monsters of ignorance and destruction.

A long time ago in 1978 I embarked on an impossible M.Phil/Ph.D in a school of architecture, on "Placemaking": from how we make a home on this planet, to how we decide where to place a bed (Feng Shui has a lot to say about that).

What I still remember most is the words of a systems biologist Ludwig von Bertalanffy, one of the founders of General Systems Theory:

"The organism which destroys its environment ends by destroying itself".

It's obvious really: if you know the most basic facts that burning fossil fuels heats the planet to cause climate change.

Not to mention a range of other deadly pollution and ecological destruction.

And AI can now be used fairly easily to genetically engineer new deadly viruses or invent other bioweapons: to speed up the kill rate.

These men lack the imagination to care...

As with so many things Donald doesn't understand probability. A 1 in 500 year flood doesn't mean literally once in 500 years, it's a 1 in 500 possibility in any year and could happen every year, any year or multiple times in a year.

For example the Camp Mystic flood, summer of '25, 28 dead, was only 18 miles from Kerrville. What are the odds?

Even if the next democrat president reverses ALL Trump's insane de-regulation, the damage to the environment will be severe and long-lasting. You can't pump a few billion extra tons of gases into the atmosphere and expect it go away just because you stopped being such a fool! Trump is a child who wants everything to match his fantasies, and reality makes no impression on him because he's also the most powerful man on earth. I'm surprised he hasn't had a super hero outfit made for himself!

Thomas, I echo your sentiment’s w the long lasting, irreversible environmental damage that has been done to our earth/oceans overall.

This past summer, the smoke from the wild fires the fascist leader was threatening to come after us here in 🇨🇦 was worse than he ever knew or imagined.

The wildfires have become, dare I say, a new normal in parts of Beautiful BC where I live & 🇨🇦 over all.

There were days that lasted back to back in early August where it literally rained ashes. Ashes fell out the sky like snow flakes, except the flakes were grey heavy matter & one couldn’t even see the ☀️🕶️❤️

this American government looks like a freak show packed with deranged, power‑drunk lunatic characters who have no business steering a country. It’s gross watching a whole machinery of so‑called leaders hollow out the United States like termites chewing through rotten wood. The incompetence is so loud, so filthy, so shameless that it feels like the nation handed its future to a circus of chaos‑addicted clowns. It’s sickening to witness.

They will fall at their own peril sooner or later. Lets hope the former.

I agree with and appreciate your information. I also add that the use of any type of power, including electricity, can create extra heat going into the environment. I'm in the Pacific Northwest, and I rarely use A/C, and try to air dry my clothes outside whenever possible. I use only 40 gallons of heating oil per year, and use space heaters to heat only parts of my house, and I see that my house and yards are the last ones on the block left with snow on them since I heat my house so little in the winter. A/C was non-existent on my block 10 years ago. Now many have it, including large A/C units. Stand near them and it feels like a clothes dryer. So it's not only fossil fuels creating heat. If we can try to co-exist with cooler temps at night and warmer during the day without trying to keep our indoor environment constantly temperature-regulated, it will benefit all of us.

How can an ignorant man like Trump decide what super intelligence or any kind of intelligence well, I don’t think he can evaluate what intelligence is

I think The Orange Odium is possessed of 'Infra intelligence'.

When he was nominated, Zeldin's first sentence had the phrase “energy dominance,” not “environmental protection.”

Helen Spirer's avatar

Zeldin wanted to be Gov. of NYS. He is a total disaster.

I've noticed that my Trump-supporting family member, who was once environmentally conscious under the Obama administration, hardly ever expresses concern over recycling things now. And behaviors that she abhorred in past presidents are now acceptable with this one. The hypocrisy is astounding.

Shame on those who support Trump and Zeldin and have children and grandchildren. Those people are endangering the future of their family members. Oh, sorry, they have no shame; they just care about $$$.

“[O]nly an evil person would ask that question.” It is, of course, false. It id, however, the only thing he said that wasn’t garbled.
