Have you noticed the coverage of ICE in Minnesota and Vermont has gone radio silent while ICE is still every bit as brutal and repressive as ever? Have you noticed how nobody is talking about Trump removing restrictions on Russia is the next step in the ongoing BETRAYAL of Ukraine? A lot of the problem is the short attention span of the spoon fed audience as well.
I’m inclined to agree. Take the cheques. And the network owners structure news channels as entertainment loop to rebroadcast around the clock, changing the ads more often than the so called stories.
Social media is run by corporate criminals and even if it wasn’t they do not have to protect first amendment rights to free speech and they don’t protect first amendment right to free speech. But they do have a terms of service and if they violate those terms of service then theoretically they can be sued for breach of contract but don’t count any American lawyers doing that because American lawyers suck corporate billionaire ass.
Social media should be treated like a public Square and such be subject to first amendment protection and that means they should be required to adhere to the protections of the first amendment and court rollings involving free speech and the first amendment but that’s never gonna happen because these are corporate billionaires. The only thing that holds the criminal elite billionaire class to any kind of accountability fear of appraisals from the peasant class. The peasants hate the filthy Rich with a passion. In France in 1789 they rounded up the filthy Rich, brought them to the guillotine and cut their fucking heads off. The authorities in France weren’t gonna do anything about King Louis the 16th so the people took the law into their own hands and cut the bastard head off with the guillotine. That seemed to work out pretty well. Filthy rich in France know their limitations. They behave themselves and they don’t act like assholes as much as the ones in America do.
I rather like the idea that “they, the OTHERS” feel their tenuous grip on power so THREATENED that they are THAT worried about what everybody’s sayin’ about them. That’s what I call encouraging. :)
Hang in there, Mary. If they’re trying to ban your content, you know you are doing the right thing, and you are getting to them. I hope you continue to fight the bastards as long as you can.
It is insane, that in America you can be banned for telling the truth. Since these oligarchs are taking over Mainstream Media, it has become like Russian propaganda. We need independent journalists like yourself more than ever!!! Keep up the good fight!!
For America this is not at all new, is it ? I remember the film Citizen Kane. Europe has proportional representation. We are organized in groups of interest. Each group has it's own newspaper. No reason to manipulate the readers in another direction. Although the American influence since the 90's seems to have caused damage in our society. We now work in high speed to clean it up.
I'm sorry to say that abroad America is a laughing stock with all that suing going on. I make a guess that we have not even 10% of such court activity here in the Netherlands. Possibly 5%. Most is done by pragmatic mediation anyway: around the table with a coffee, half an hour for an agreement. We think that court cases are an absolute waste of time, energy, and money. And the stress is bad for public health.
it is impossible to sue corporate gangsters and win. They own the criminal justice system. They own judges and they own prosecutors.
Social media platforms are propaganda outlets and they hate the truth or anything that is contrary to their corporate narrative.
Twitter for instance was created by a punk named Jack Dorsey. He’s a multi multi billionaire he’s a corporate shithead. Because he is a scumbag piece of shit he sold Twitter to a Nazi by the name of Elon Musk.
Then he created blue sky because he saw the opportunity to offer something to people on the left and he sold it to some real assholes who don’t know anything about the law or free speech or morality because they techie geeks and it became an echo chamber for snowflake liberals and feminist man haters. If you disagree with them they kick you out because they are just as fascist as fascist who claimed to be right wing.
Because they are filthy rich they’re not subject to the rule of law or basic common decency which would include honesty. If they don’t like what you say they kick you off because they don’t want debate or discussion.
I was on blue sky and Laura Loomer joined. She didn’t do anything wrong she only made one or two posts before they kicked her off. I advocated for her because I wanted to keep her around so I could kick the shit out of her but they got rid of her because the snowflakes and blue sky were so stupid that they were afraid she was gonna kick their asses.
I got kicked off of both Twitter and blue sky. What I’d like to see happen to all of these social media platforms is a good attack by hackers and keep shutting them down and shutting them down until they decide to not ban free speech.
The only speech that really needs protecting is unpopular speech and if what someone says is not popular with the snowflakes that person is going to get banned. Apparently Mary Trump said something it probably had a lot of truth in it but it might have ruffled some feathers of some person who I would probably like to see die of cancer so they banned her.
YouTube does some of the same stuff but they do something called shadow banning and they allow violations to their rules if the person is creating a lot of revenue that’s why they kept that scumbag Alex Jones around as long as they did. These are corporate people and that means they’re no fucking good whatsoever.
Keep on fighting with every opportunity that presents itself as we watch fascism spread its ugly wings across the land of the free and home of the brave. Keeping the faith that karma will strike in the very near future.
Methinks we’re already living in a fascist state. Unfortunately -
I’d say we’re already there -

“Political scientist Dr. Lawrence Britt recently wrote an article about fascism ("Fascism Anyone?
"Studying the fascist regimes of Hitler (Germany), Mussolini (Italy), Franco (Spain), Suharto (Indonesia), and Pinochet (Chile), Dr. Britt found they all had 14 elements in common. He calls these the identifying characteristics of fascism. The excerpt is in accordance with the magazine's policy.”

These kinds of monopolies are why I am very choosy about where I get my news. In addition to you here on Substack, I also follow Dan Rather, Aaron Parnas and Charlie Sykes. Between you all and the PBS News Hour, I typically don't have to deal with the BS noise of the mainstream news outlets.
Yes! Some independent publications outside and some inside the U.S. Those that come to (my) mind are: Haaretz, for news that has heretofore seemed honest about Israel (or more honest than here!). Irish Times. Seattle Times. Up until now the Stars and Stripes, U.S. military’s independent publication. They are recently under threat of censorship. We’ll see about that. There are more, but that’s all I can think of that don’t involve the exercising of whatever weak foreign language skills I can summon. Maybe Duolingo could add lessons specific to “reading foreign language newspapers”? Ha ha.
Couldn't agree more, independent media is the way. It is the beacon that guides informed thought and can light the way to a better place. Its always been that way, which is why people like Walter Cronkite were true giants, powerful enough with their voice to genuinely criticize the government and stand against assaults on democracy.
Twitter was a useful place once upon a time. I found it very useful during the pandemic because trustworthy scientists passed on important information, including links to peer reviewed papers. Twitter was where I discovered, for instance, that the variant of covid I succumbed to didn’t show up as positive until day 5.
One of the first priorities of a Democratic Congress other than the impeachment of Trump and other members of his kakistocracy including on the Supreme Court should be the repealing of the 1996 Telecommunications Act given to us by the first neoliberal/neoconservative Democratic US president, Bill Clinton. We are living in what has been called the second or New Gilded Age. It follows then that as the first Gilded Age ended with the break up of the trusts, the giant corporations that dominated the US in the late 1890s-early 1900s, Americans who want a democratic US should demand as citizens and as legislators and administrators enact trust-busting that will make the break up of ATT in the early 1980s look like a minor reorganizing of assets. Let it start with media, 90% of which has been said to be owned by six companies, though before long that number may drop down to five.
Your American election system is built to prevent that. Your 2 party system feeds a contineous civil war. Shift to proportional representation with a coalition government. Then the parties work to come together to an agreement.
If platforms can remove voices without accountability, trust erodes faster than any algorithm can fix.

And where are the unredacted EPSTEIN FILES, the missing files along with the unreleased Epstein files?
What's happening with the war in Ukraine especially with the lifting of Russian sanctions?
The high priced help in Washington needs to walk and chew gum; multitask and make the connections… ad so do the JOURNALISTS.
ohhhh. I wonder if our senators know all of this?
Oh they know, they just don’t care. That’s the point!!!!
I’m inclined to agree. Take the cheques. And the network owners structure news channels as entertainment loop to rebroadcast around the clock, changing the ads more often than the so called stories.

Yes
That must feel so targeted. Being deprived of a voice in the USA for speaking the truth. Inconvenient to those in power. Very worrying.
I rather like the idea that “they, the OTHERS” feel their tenuous grip on power so THREATENED that they are THAT worried about what everybody’s sayin’ about them. That’s what I call encouraging. :)

Please sue them. I couldn't afford to or I would ,for the same reasons.
Class action.
Massive!

don't worry. Most of us know it & we're crying not laughing...
Well, one does have to do what works in their own realm. When in the Netherlands, we shall have coffee. In the meantime, go ahead and laugh at us.

They can’t handle the truth.
It's getting increasingly fascistic out there and we must all fight back with everything we've got.
Keep on fighting with every opportunity that presents itself as we watch fascism spread its ugly wings across the land of the free and home of the brave. Keeping the faith that karma will strike in the very near future.

Being banned from TikTok is a badge of honor.

Please add Heather Cox Richardson to your list. You can find her on Substack also.
Dr. Mary Trump should reach out to the BBC and the CBC.
Yes this would be a reliable channel
You’re right
Thank you, John Broker.
You are always welcome
The guardian is an excellent source of information.

BBC is not what it used to be. You need idealistic providers that create alternative access online.
trump is mentioned more that epstein. Including links, etc. So he is guilty. That’s it.
These monopolies or duopolies need to be broken up with lightening speed
Really

You’re very correct
I never twittered, I never tic tacked, and I never x-ed, never wanted them, never needed them.
Twitter was a useful place once upon a time. I found it very useful during the pandemic because trustworthy scientists passed on important information, including links to peer reviewed papers. Twitter was where I discovered, for instance, that the variant of covid I succumbed to didn’t show up as positive until day 5.
It turned into a cesspit after Musk bought it.

We need to elect people who will (1) do what you suggest, and (2) get them to pay the tax they should be paying.
Especially since the US government just came out the country is insolvent because of the debts to assets ratio. What that means for us, I don't know.
Your American election system is built to prevent that. Your 2 party system feeds a contineous civil war. Shift to proportional representation with a coalition government. Then the parties work to come together to an agreement.
Meidas Touch is getting heat because Oracle has supported them. Ellison = Oracle.
