I’ve heard them all speak. Intelligence isn’t their superpower. And, if Donald was such a brilliant businessman, why did he spend a lifetime losing money - until now? Ditto for his kids. They are counting on the rest of us to be as intellectually vapid as they are. Count me out.
I can still hear the constant screams from the Right about Hunter Biden, Hunter Biden's laptop, Hunter Biden and on and on. Where are the screams now?? Maybe because the corruption is so out in the open they think it isn't really that bad. Oh, it's bad, really bad.
and Hunter himself is trolling them about it, which adds a bit of spice to the discussion. But there is just no serious parallel to what he did (got a lucrative foreign board appointment because of his name, sold some extra paintings) and what the Trump family is doing.

Reading it makes me wonder though why the framers of the Constitution, no doubt being aware of the past and present massive corruption in the British government of their time did not put in constraints against such corruption that did not depend on the willingness of the government of the day to impose them. This of course is why Trump has been so unabashedly and massively corrupt because he can be because the party controlling all three branches of government are unwilling to move against him. But it is Trump's very brazenness that will make him the most target-rich environment for impeachment and removal in US history, so we will see or at least hear and read in the fall that as November approaches the arrogance of Trump and his white-collar crime family will gradually give way to panic.

No more domestic emoluments. No more foreign emoluments worth over $100. Foreign emoluments will continue to need the permission of members of Congress before they may be taken. Gifts from non-family members have to be under $100. They may receive military pensions and state government pensions. Pensions from companies should be held in trust until after leave office.
This is why we need a rewrite of the first 3 Articles of the Constitution. We have to make the president subject to prosecution and automatic removal for felonies. We need to revamp Congress and SCOTUS as well.
Now, if only we could get the people who need to see it, REALLY see it. Even more important, to actually see how far down in the quicksand they've gone and then, summon the strength to help save our Country in our lifetime. You have courage and intelligence that shine through everything you write. One sad thing I'm sure of, the fact that he's in the dumpster popularity-wise, will mean very little in the fall election. Even with all the loss, trouble, death, hardship, etc., his followers are experiencing, they are just not going to change opinions because they utterly believe Donald loves them. Somehow I ended up watching (ok, and dozing a little) to the “shadow hearing”, I’d never heard of one. Even if only performative, to see that many Congressional lapel pins all commenting on how to deal with the eradication and cleanup of the regime, in great detail. Maybe hollow at this point, where the fuck were they 18 months ago? But even at that, it was the first time I was able to see my fondest wishes acted out, almost like the real thing. We can hope.
The first sentence that Mary wrote says it all: an investment opportunity. Right on. Her unc doesn't give a twit about learning how to be a statesman, learning more about foreign affairs, developing positive relationships with allies, caring about common Americans, figuring out how to make citizens of immigrants who have been honest and working their butts off in this country for 3 decades real citizens. He certainly doesn't give a massive twit about checks and balances, the opinions of judges if they rule against him, due process, or any part of the Constitution, unless it allows him to make loads of cash. He couldn't run his own business without it tanking 6 times, couldn't even keep a friggin' casino going in the heart of casino village, his TV show was a total scam, so guess what? He turns to the greatest show on earth: politics, develops a character that he can sell, of course, then grooms his idiot sons as well as Musk, et al to redirect all monies to his off-shore accounts, as well as other illegal endeavors. He's a snake oil salesman, a man who talks in tongues, a carnival barker, a BS artist, all rolled into one. What he is NOT is a president of a world democracy. Politics as an investment opportunity, all done by the biggest opportunist the world has ever seen? You bet, and thousands upon thousands bought it hook, line and sinker.
