Over the years l became embittered and angry. More recently I suffered difficulty breathing and weightloss. My husband could care less. He claimed to be the victim of my anger.
After 50+ years, l collapsed and was finally diagnosed and treated with medication. I spent 4 months in a local nursing facility in treatment and regaining weightloss.
I seldom had time to get sick because of all my responsibilities.
It’s taken some getting used to but my children have been loving and supportive. And l have an aide (an African princess), at home in Queens who is lovely.
Fortunately l found an alternative solution 32 years ago and left my teaching job (he controlled my paycheck) and started my own business with my own bank account.
Success is the best revenge. Too many years with marriage counseling, but l do have my independence. And four grown children, two of whom live abroad!
