24 hours later and I'm still on a high after watching it happen online.
It's all been so very, crushingly dark for you all, but now there's a glow in the sky, and it seems dawn is finally on the way. You deserve the best of days to come.
Thank you, Mike. As Mary said, I feel different today, as if I have been released from a jail cell in which I was held prisoner. I know there is a lot of work ahead, but as Kamala said, it is good work. We have the opportunity to secure our Democracy, once and for all. We must not ever again allow our moral code to blind us to the dangers that are inherent in our belief that people are basically decent. Not all are. Stephen Miller, Russ Vought, Putin, Netanyahu, Elon Musk and of course child rapist trump are all evil, through and through.
Thanks again Mike… You really do understand & care… Thanx for sharing our joy & relief - visit us when things calm down & feel the love that is the true America… pj
I am 96 years old, born during the Hoover administration, grew up as a Roosevelt New Deal Democrat. For 10 years I despaired that my bookend would be Donald Trump and the collapse of our democracy. Last night it was as though a vast field of flowers suddenly burst into bloom and revealed a glorious panoply of vibrant colors of every hue. My bookend now is a wonderful new New Deal with endless possibilities. My country went through a terrible trial, but, having been tested, came bursting out hopefully better than ever. Trump tried to frighten everyone into hating "the other". Instead, we have "the first..." in every hue and color. We don't care what you look like, only who you are as a human being. Now we have to live up to this moment. We did it before 90 years ago. I hope we can do it again.
“NOW DOES HIS TITLE HANG LOOSE ABOUT HIM LIKE A GIANT’S ROBE UPON A DWARFISH THIEF” (Macbeth) Trump implored the electorate to vote as if his name was on their ballots. They did.
Thank you Mary for all the time and effort spent over the past decade to educate the world about Donald. That could not have been easy for you. May you finally get some peace knowing you made a difference! 💙🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸💙❤️
I was thinking that a fog has been lifted. More women. Women can handle problem solving and cooperation better that men IMO. Younger people in those positions. People who know what a threat theĺ data centers and unregulated AI can be. Diversity won. DEI ran on the ballot and won.
People are talking a lot about a fulcrum shift from an extraction approach and change to a cooperative community model. I hope so.
Our gratitude for all your hard work from Australia. You kept us in the loop and we are beyond happy with the result. For once the better side of the family won.
Your title envelops this day perfectly. The surprising thing, after being with the polls last night til about midnight, I was limp and on the couch for the entire day. Why so long, I wondered? I can figure only that it was an ongoing low grade stress I've carried for ages. Mary, you have worked so hard each day. Your huge effort and those of so many in our country are the folks I feel so much love and gratitude for. This nightmare awakened me to how much I love my country, more than I ever dreamed. Thank you! (Heart)

Precisely. I agree completely with you and, indeed, I also stayed riveted until about 1 a. I agree that: "This election was not about policy. This election was not about politics. This election was not about Democrats versus Republicans. This was about the American people finally saying enough and no more." So now our democratic principles are safe and we have our country back. I've been giddy since the results started showing the trend. Elated. Proud for the first time in two years to be an American. Ding dong the witch is dead.
Beautifully written – and yes, what a wonderful day to feel different and lighter and hopeful again.

(((Mary H))) So very well said, thank you for sharing your history & your heart..! It’s a great day to meet you, fellow American ..! ❤️🇺🇸

Indeed L. D. Michaels . This orange man has been added to the witches cauldron. 👍
Thank you American democracy!

I felt lighter today!
It's the same feeling I get when I attended the 👑NO KINGS Rallies 👑!
Thank you for all you said and have done

Yup, but for us outside of the USA nothing changes. Trump still has the powers of veto, executive powers and nothing can stop him geopolitically.
Thank you Mary . Still a lot of work to be done to fix the damage done by this hateful administration . We can do it .
👍
