The Governor of Virginia asked the corrupt US Supreme Court to intervene on behalf of the voters who backed a Democratic gerrymander. They won't. Gerrymanders are only for Republicans. What she should have done in conjunction with the legislature is said to the VA court, thank you for your input, fuck off, and implemented the new maps. Republicans would have done it, in fact they already have in Ohio and Florida.
Gov Spanberger put your big girl pants on and ignore the supreme court’s disgusting decision towards your voters. Don’t be a centrist who plays nice. Times are no longer nice. 🥊@governorabigailspanberger
Texas did it first, in August 2025, creating five additional Republican seats. But we common folk weren't allowed to vote on it because that's how it's done in Texas.
It invites rampant corruption and gives Texans very little say in the governing process of their state. Citizens are not allowed to put an initiative on the ballot.
Yet we just let it be.
And state leaders also pressure local governments to do as they say. The City of Denton passed a marijuana referendum with 70 percent of the vote in 2022, yet AG Ken Paxton pressured the city to overturn the will of the voters with a lawsuit. I think he also did this to two other cities.
Good job calling Hakeem Jeffries out, Mary❤️. The Republican party has become a cancer, and the Democrats who acquiesce are helping it spread. Donald is the central mass, and the window to stop the metastasis is closing fast.
Americans might be surprised to know that gerrymandering is legal nowhere else in the developed world, if not the world as a whole. In fact, the last time there was another country that had it was the Republic of Ireland in the early 1980s, where its proportional representation electoral districts do not exceed five members. What the Democrats have had to do is regrettable, in response to actions by the Republicans that are, typically, reprehensible, but it is clear that politics in the US now more than ever match Clausewitz's definition, war without bloodshed. So far.
An additional thought, Mary has given yet more evidence why Hakeem Jeffries, AIPAC Shakur as he has been aptly nicknamed, should be overthrown as Democrat minority leader in the House. While Chuck Schumer was not involved in THIS display of fecklessness, the Senator from Wall Street should meet with a similar fate. It's pretty clear by now that centrists are not the ones to take on neo-fascists.
Thank you for the article, Mary. It seems the President is bored with everything. Gerrymandering should be declared unconstitutional. If you like Independent Media. Please consider supporting @Mary Trump Media.
So enraging--all the Republicans do is TALK, TALK, TALK about democracy when all they really want is POWER and the right to block any push back from Independents and Democrats who want to level the playing field and correct the inconsistencies between actual census counts and voter records. This "redistricting" BS every 5 minutes when the Republicans are desperately trying to gain more seats is not done in the letter or the spirit of the law. Republicans are a bunch of poor losers and snowflakes--I so want the mid-terms to be a BLOW-OUT for Independents and Democrats to fight back against Punkin' head bastard and his cronies. God bless our poor, messed up America!
What these spineless Dems (I'm looking at you, Jeffries and Spanberger) need to do is to get their f-ing heads out of the f-ing sand. I don't know what stones they were going to leave unturned but this is a clear example of all talk and no action at a time when swift, strong and decisive action is the order of the day.
At this alarming time in our history, we don't need mealymouthed responses to the atrocities being committed by the MAGAt monsters . We need leaders with fire in their bellies who will not roll over and play dead but who will speak out and act with a no-holds-barred, take no prisoners approach. Alas, this job description does not comport with the actions of Jeffries and Spanberger. Thanks for nothing, you two.

Gov. Spanberger, why do you think you were elected? or, more directly, what did you think you wer elected to DO?

We need to start fighting, folks.

Yes! Guts and Courage.
“You’ve got to fight the fight you’ve got,” (heard on Morning Joe.)

Sic semper tyrannis. Unfortunately that phrase has a very distinct and destructive echo in American history.
"Unless you can get your head around what is really at stake in this country right now, get out of our way."
Pwr 2 the VOTING peons!
GUILLOTINE REPUBLICAN GERRYMANDERING!
